The best genealogy tour ever!

June 19th Termini Imerese Giovanni Cianciolo takes time to research your family and tailor your tour. Giovanni found out that our family came from fishermen so our tour was tailored towards the present and past fishermen. I appreciate this special touch. We started the tour in the upper part of the town. We visited the town hall were the town history was recorded in fresco. We visited the main church next door, where one of the three Immaculate Mary statues are displayed. He described how the three Marys are paraded around town on Dec 8th, starting with the fishermen's Mary at 3 am. Go fishermen!!! Wake up the town on this special day. After a quick stop for a refreshment, we started down hill to the fishermen section of town. We took the parade route. Giovanni showed us an old picture taken of all people participating in the parade. As far as the genealogy, Giovanni corrected several errors in my family tree and provided explanation on why our family surname changed. I found out that my great great grandmother was actually 3 years older than we thought. He was able to discover 2 homes were 2 of my relatives were born. Our tour include visiting those locations. Finally, we were able to visit the local church that my relatives may have been parishioners. Giovanni Cianciolo had very little time (< 2 days) to prepare for the tour. I can't not thank Giovanni enough for a memorable visit.

Giovanni gives an amazing tour. He is very passionate about his city and birthplace. He was extremely helpful in finding the birth certificates for my grandparents who were also born in Termini. He has continued to send me photos and other information about the city related to my ancestors. Giovanni picked us up at the train station and took us back there when we were finished as well as treated us to a local treat called a talalle. I highly recommend this tour.
