Annette and Jose were amazing hosts - we prepared and ate a lovely meal at their house from start to finish. They opened up their home to us. We were first greeted by their two cats who were lovely (but they can be put away if you have allergies).
The meal started with wine, some appetizers like cheese, olives, and bread, and then a gazpacho-like soup (but even better!). The olives and the herbs were from their garden, so everything was very fresh.
We chose fish, so we had fish and potatoes and onions with a delicious herb sauce. Then we made and had a cinnamon sweet dessert! We spent about 4 hours or more, and it went by so quick we were having lots of fun and chatting. Highly recommend!! Thank you!
What a wonderful host! We thoroughly enjoyed our time! It was lots of fun cooking the food and chatting with our host!!
Annette is a native Canadian and multilingual. Annette very much into flamenco and moved to Seville permanently. She lives with her boyfriend Jose who is from Soria, The 3 of us had so much fun, and learned a million things about cooking Spanish food. From the fact that they use very few spices to why gazpacho like soups are so popular in Spain (it’s hot during the summer months and they are very refreshing).
To say this was a typical cooking class would be very misleading. Anette and Jose are wonderful hosts who truly encourage hands on cooking while they instruct (Annett speaks and Jose – not understanding or speaking English, points and gestures). They are both very easy to be around and want you to feel comfortable in their kitchen. Afterwards, we all enjoyed the meal we cooked with Anette and Jose, what could be better? We took away very good experiences and memories, plus now that we are home, we have cooked everything we learned from them in our own kitchen. This was an experience we will always remember
What a wonderful way to spend our first evening in Seville! Annette and Jose were gracious hosts and opened up their home to us and help us learn to cook a scrumptious traditional Spanish meal. The lamb was some of the best we ever had! Highly recommend if you want to be treated like friends and not tourists!
We had a lovely time with Annette and Jose who welcomed us into their home. We prepared a 3 course meal (catered to our dietary requirements) and received tips and advice on cooking techniques, while enjoying a glass of wine and delicious olives. We ate our meal in their beautiful outdoor dining area and had great conversations about food and Spanish life and culture. We would highly recommend this experience.
