The trail is pretty steep. Wear good shoes and be hydrated. Could be quite slippery if wet. The whole excursion is quite nice however.

Hilarious guide - Eli. Honestly the best I ever had. He could rock it at Comedy Cellar.
One suggestion (for the itinerary): Drop visitors off on the road that cuts the trail to Mt. Britton. So they only need to climb up the second half and can go up the tower. While they’re doing that, drive down to the car park at the bottom of the trail and meet them down there. So they can walk down (rather than up) that path. Because no one on my tour made it to the top. I was the farthest ahead but I stopped at the road that cut the trail, not realizing that there was a second half until I looked at the map afterwards. Everyone else was huffing and puffing - so save them the effort by dropping them off at that mid-section.

Had a fantastic small group tour with Eli - he was engaging, hilarious, and provided a ton of fascinating information about Puerto Rico and his upbringing here

Nice tour with beautiful views and a hike in rainforest! Likely to get rained on. Very kind and knowledgeable guide Eli, had a great time!

Eli was an amazing tour guide who is very passionate about connecting with people and sharing all the wonderful details about El Yunque. He made sure to check in with everyone many times about the activities we were doing. I loved all of the Puerto Rican history talks given during the car rides.

Friendly and knowledgeable tour guide. Great way to see some highlights of the rainforest and make some friends in the process. Our guide kept things moving without making us feel rushed.

The experience description was misleading as an athletic person when it was rated "moderate" for the hike. Overall the best part was the guide. He made the experience worth it despite the disappointment as we were expecting more hiking. Unsure if this was due to a closed trail as there was unexpected trail maintenance. The guide Eli was 10/10 and I learned an amazing amount about the region. I would recommend anyone who is interested in the history attend a tour with Eli.

Overall, I thought the tour was good. Wish there was more emphasis on the hiking portion (especially since the tour is advertised as such) but still thought the itinerary was good. 1 hr hike to a tower with some stunning views, and then driving to another tower for more photo ops, followed by some time in the river.
However my main feedback is around the execution of the tour. We got to the hiking stop and were told to be back in 1 hour. Some of the people on the tour expressed concern that it wasn’t enough time but Eli our guide said that it would take 45 mins round trip to the viewpoint without photo stops. For some reason, Eli didn’t come with us on the hike (not sure why there wasn’t a guide for the hike but felt like there was a risk of people getting lost or injured). I made it back down almost on the dot at the 1 hour mark (I consider myself fitter than average), but this was without any breaks except at the top and I felt like I had to rush taking my pictures instead of being able to enjoy the views. I was by far the first one down and had to wait maybe 15 mins or so for the others. Two of the other people ended up getting lost and came down an alternate trail but they found the van.
The second stop was another tower without a hike. Our guide didn’t give us a designated meeting time or point. Went up and down roughly at the same time as the others in the group. When I saw two of them wander off after getting back down I did the same thinking we had more time, only to see the whole group a few minutes later walking towards the van with the guide. Rushed back to the van accordingly. Also, while Eli pointed out that there were restrooms at this stop I feel like we didn’t have ample time to use them, nor did he warn us that this was the only proper bathroom the whole tour.
Last stop was the river. Was hard to enjoy given that it was rocky and the current was strong where we were. We were led to a part of the riverbed that was slippery, buggy, and had a lot of brush. Wish we were led slightly further up where conditions were a bit better. Only had 20-25 mins in the river so I just dipped my legs instead of actually getting in the water. Had to hike down 2 minutes from the road and it was rocky - honestly dangerous to do this in sandals and we weren’t given a heads up.
Overall I thought the tour was good but there should’ve been more time allocated for the hike and it should’ve been better organized. Eli was very friendly and informative as a guide but feel like his execution could’ve been better

Hi Branden, thanks for being with us in El Yunque and see you enjoyed El Yunque.
As the description says this is a half day tour and for that reason the hike is an intermediate trail for 45 mnts to an hour maximum. Also when the book is book you receive confirmation with details about recommendations on what to wear and about the stops.

Don’t miss this tour. And if Eli is your guide it’s guaranteed to be awesome! He is loaded with information and made the adventure fun and safe.
Peggy_M, Mar 2025
Eli, our tour guide, made this excursion memorable! He began our trip to the rainforest by sharing his knowledge of PR’s history, culture and people. His knowledge of the area was amazing! My family spoke about this trip as one the highlights of our visit to Puerto Rico.
Dayna_G, Mar 2025
We stopped at the most beautiful sights. Our guide made us feel safe and made sure to educate us along the way.
Jonathan_F, Mar 2025
The tour guide was great and everything was on schedule. The hike inside the rainforest was beautiful.
Rio_M, Mar 2025
The forest was absolutely beautiful! I will definitely be back. The trail we went up was a little strenuous and I suggest your best non slip shoes. Eli our guide was knowledgeable and so funny. He was warm and welcoming and made the trip up a blast! He was accommodating and helped us pick the best spot for my best friend to get proposed to. Thank you Eli!!

Good trek with the right temperature. The stop at the river bed was refreshing. Wish there were more details shared about the flora & fauna. There was no separate guide. Driver shared limited details of the place.

The tour guide was so nice! It was lovely to get away from San Juan for a day without having a car or needing any hiking gear. We were able to easily fit it in, along with a dinner, all before our 9pm flight back.

A good overview of El Yunque … visit to the observation deck, waterfall, a good step hike… and then flowing water
alex_f, Jun 2024
We had a great time on this tour overall the only thing I’d say is I was expecting more of a hike . The hike was 20 minutes to a river where we can swim and 20 minutes back . We went a few places to see a water fall and a lookout tower but it was closed so we missed going inside . I think this is a great tour for family’s as the hiking isn’t much and about half of the time was spent driving to and from the rainforest and around to the waterfall .
Lynne_H, Apr 2024
El Yunque is beautiful. Loved seeing different areas of the forest and having the opportunity to go on a little hike. I had wished the tour guide had talked a bit more and the forest or Puerto Rico in general.
Dereck_G, Mar 2024
Tour was definitely not worth the money or the time the guide also lost his headset and had us go back to look for it then dropped people off at the airport and other locations which wasted a lot of my time I would go back but not on this tour
Response from Host, Mar 2024
The guide losing his headset is not something common to happen, the guide that day was David, will take matters personally to see what happen and is common to drop off people in some locations.
abbiekolarik, Feb 2024
I wasn’t sure if I could hike in the rainforest, the guide picked a challenging yet doable trail! It was amazing scenery, lush, peaceful, and green!
Tea_F, Feb 2024
It was a nice time! The tour guide was kind and knowledgeable. No swimming because the river is closed until June, but we saw a waterfall. I wish the hiking portion had been longer. One hour is not enough time to really see the forest! You only get to go a half hour and then turn around and see the same stuff again. My hike was just getting to the good part when I had to turn around!
Response from Host, Feb 2024
Thanks for the review, I see you had a nice time, this is a half a day tour and for that reason we don't do long hikes and also it has to be hike that is suitable for everyone.
