My husband and I are both Puerto Rican and he never experienced El Yunque. We travel to the island often and decided on this excursion as something different to do. Pick up was super easy. Our guide Angel was amazing. Attentive, knowledgeable and great personality. The rain forest was beautiful and it was RAINING. Husband was a little fussy about that but decided to embrace the experience and it was all good. We then went to Luquillo Beach and enjoyed the food from the various kiosks there, picked up some empanadas for dinner. The beach itself was OK. Liked how calm the water was but the cost of loungers and umbrella was very pricey compared to other beaches. Given we were only there for 2 hours its not worth it. The surrounding area was a bit littered and bathrooms were scarce and an adventure itself. Drop off was also seamless. Overall a good experience.

Ride to the forest was very comfortable. Air conditioning was a plus. Angel our driver and guide was friendly and gave us interesting facts about PR The forest was amazing so nice to have a guide to lead the way and point out cool things. Waterfall was spectacular. Beach was nice and the food kiosks were yummy. It was great to go on this tour instead of renting a car and trying to figure out where to go.

Probably the best activity on this whole itinerary was the drop off at Luquillo beach. I had booked this because the description and listing of activities sounded fun and interactive but our short walk through the forest was literally that, short. We didn’t get to see El Puente Roto, our tour guide was funny but even when he was asked about the activities listed he said that all the activities listed were not really activities we were gonna get to do. Was it worth my $80, no.

El Yunque is a must see tour!

Misleading description of your.

Marianne_S, Mar 2026
Nice tour of the forest. Easy pace for those not looking for a strenuous activity. Guide was knowledgeable and personable. However, misleading description: information said maximum 13 people. There were 23 people in a packed van. Both English and Spanish speaking so guide had to switch back and forth with the languages. I was very disappointed about this aspect of the trip.

Enjoyable day and so glad we weren't the ones driving up the narrow, windy roads. Would have liked more time walking through the rain forest (and fewer nature lessons) but got a taste of it. Maybe less time at the beach afterwards

The team is great.... the tour peron was super nice just the experience of the tour was not the great is... not worth it... we just walked 10 minutes and then jump back on the bus and all the explanation was on top of the bus....... we did not get in the river... we stopped at the castle for 10 minutes and back on the bus. The water fall is not what it looks like in the picture .. super disappointed I've been to the forest three times and the last two were really good a lot of info we were able to get into the water and visit a cave again the tour guy was excellent just the fact of the tour the places it's horrible not worth the money we paid.

Response from Host, Feb 2026

Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us. I appreciate you taking the time to leave a detailed review. I’d like to add some important context regarding the day of your visit. On that particular day, weather conditions included rain and fast-moving river flow. Under those circumstances, and in line with National Forest safety protocols, entering rivers is not permitted due to the very real risk of flash flooding. In those situations, safety must take precedence over any planned water activity, without exception. Our team adjusted the experience accordingly, focusing on safe access points, scenic stops, and guided interpretation. El Yunque is a natural environment, and conditions—including waterfalls and river levels—can change significantly from day to day and may not always resemble photos taken under ideal conditions. We truly appreciate your kind comments about our staff and guide, and we regret that the tour itself did not meet your expectations. Your feedback is taken seriously and helps us continue refining how we communicate what to expect, especially when weather conditions require adjustments on the day of the tour. Thank you again for visiting with us and for sharing your perspective.

Rafael was a great tour guide and SO well educated on general information about PR and the rain forest itself. Despite the rain he made sure we saw the sights and had a good time. Would definitely recommend to ensure getting to appropriate sights in the rain forest and just enjoy your day learning about the islands.

Gorgeous rainforest but bummed at the beach

Kirsten_S, Jan 2026
The rainforest can be rainy! It is beautiful. The guide made our driving time and stops interesting. The river is a pleasant stop. Beach time was too long, a crowded loud place and dirty. Not at all what I envisioned.

Excellent excursion and very glad that we got to go with our guides Joshua and driver Rafael. We did expect a longer hike than just the 15 minutes, but given that there were some older folks in our group, it was a good accommodation for everyone.

Pickup was prompt with comfortable, air-conditioned transportation. Rain cut short the swimming stop in El Yunque, but the rainforest lookout offered beautiful views, and we even spotted a waterfall from the drive. Luquillo Beach was disappointing due to rain, and the market-style food area felt run-down and underwhelming. It does offer a couple of full service restaurants. Overall, a decent but unremarkable trip.

Great time in Puerto rico

Juan_G, Dec 2025
Great hosts and guides (Joshua and Rafael) -They really made this tour enjoyable as they were telling a lot of history around puerto rico and the places visited. The trail of the Yunque was nice and not overwhelming, however overall we spent too much time on the bus.

Exploring the Rain Forest

Day of beauty and a couple of short easy hikes into the forest to waterfalls and nice swim area. Very peaceful. Angel was a great guide and provided lots of information during our ride to El Yunque and along the hikes. He made it a fun day for all of us. We were lucky to have a beautiful sunny day and no rain for our hike.

Great tour through the rainforest. Guides were informative. I need a cane to walk and they took very good care of me on the short hikes that we took. Swimming in the River was amazing, and the water was refreshing. There were plenty of food/shopping options at the beach. We enjoyed some local food and a cocktail. Overall a very good tour.

Great day! Short hike in El Yunque, visit to the lookout tower, and a stop at the river. All before visiting Playa Luquillo and the kiosks. Rafael, our tour guide, was so friendly and knowledgeable. Would definitely book again!

Our tour guide Rafael was very knowledgeable and made the tour enjoyable for me and my family. As for the hike, don't expect anything moderate , max 10-15min easy hike. I wasn't impressed with Luquillo Beach , it was dirty and the jet skies were super close to the swimming area, but we made it enjoyable.

Great day trip to rainforest and beach

Melanie_W, Apr 2025
Our tour guide, Angel, was communicative prior to the tour pick up at our hotel in their small bus. Angel was friendly and we felt safe while he drove us to El Yunque and Luquillo. We enjoyed the time he gave us to walk around the tower and to enjoy the swimming spot in the river. We did not want to do cliff jumping and rock slides, so this was perfect for us! I only wish we had an extra hour in Luquillo to enjoy some more beach time after getting something to eat. We didn’t realize when Angel was leaving us at Luquillo that another employee would be driving us back to San Juan, so we were a bit confused when finding the bus again. We were also sorry to have missed the opportunity to tip Angel.

Nice day trip!

Jacquelin_M, Apr 2025
Really enjoyed this day trip to the rain forest and beach/shopping/restaurants. Narration by our guide, Angel, was excellent. We specifically chose this tour because it advertised as less rigorous than other day trips, however, I would note that the rain forest hike (supposedly "easy" path) is still a bit arduous. The walking path has uneven surfaces, areas of descent/ascent, rocks, exposed tree roots, mud and standing water. It took us about 20 minutes each way to walk the route at a slow pace. Once you are at the river/stream, it is not easy to enter the water; the shore is very rocky. Make sure to bring water socks, hiking shoes, beach towel, water bottle, hat and sunscreen.

Great experience!

Amanda_C, Mar 2025
This tour was great! Not too much hiking to the river where you can swim. The hardest part of the hiking was going back up. Then to the beach after where you can grab lunch and relax until you are picked up at 3p. Perfect little day learning about and exploring part of the rainforest. I would recommend! If you really enjoy hiking I would choose the longer trail.

Unprofessional, Rude, Dismissive.

Jeetindra_B, Mar 2025
I booked a tour with the understanding that there would be a pickup in San Juan and free cancellation up to 24 hours before the tour. Despite multiple attempts to confirm the pickup time by calling and messaging through the Viator app, I received no response. I eventually reached out to Viator support, who assured me they would contact the tour operator on my behalf. However, at around 8 PM the night before the tour, the operator finally called to inform me that they were unable to provide the promised pickup and that I would need to take an Uber to a different location. The operator was unprofessional, rude, and dismissive. Given that this was after the 24-hour cancellation window, I no longer felt comfortable proceeding with the tour, and yet I am being told that I cannot receive a refund. This situation is completely unacceptable, and I am extremely dissatisfied with both the operator's lack of communication and poor customer service.
