Itinerary

After pickup from your Rio hotel in the morning, board your vehicle for the panoramic sightseeing tour of the city. Start with visits to the Metropolitan Cathedral, well-known for its unlikely pyramid shape, and the famous Sambodromo, which hosts the festivities for the yearly Carnaval and is the major exhibition hall for Rio's samba schools.

Then drive through downtown Rio and stop at the Metropolitan Cathedral. Then travel through Urca, the neighborhood where Sugar Loaf Mountain resides. Board the cable car up the mountain, making a stop for a scenic photo-op and views over Corcovado Mountain, the Rio-Niteroi Bridge and Guanabara Bay on the way. At the top of Sugar Loaf Mountain, pause to admire the expansive scenery, including the beaches of Niteroi, the Fortaleza Santa Cruz, and the famous Copacabana.

Enjoy the included lunch at a local restaurant before continuing on your marathon tour in the afternoon.

After lunch, you can either head for the Cosme de Velho station, where you'll hop on the cog train and ride through the Tijuca Rainforest to the top of Corcovado Mountain. Spend about 45 minutes at the top of the mountain, marveling at the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue and enjoying views out over Rio and its surroundings.

At the end of your comprehensive sightseeing tour in Rio, enjoy drop-off at your hotel.

Bad weather, no train and still worth the time and money

This was a quirky day for people to compare. First of all, it rained buckets. It was so cloudy that there were only occasional sightings of Christo in the clouds -- even on the platform. Second, we were looking forward to the train but for some reason it wasn't running. Now this MIGHT be a deal killer especially with the bad weather also. We had a small group with a comfortable van and a knowledgeable tour guide who was so very personable. He was very clear about identifying the neighborhoods we entered and points of interest. We made some additional stops not mentioned in the description. I don't know if we would have seen them if the train was running. It included the beautifully tiled Escalera and gift shops. We didn't take the lunch and the guide dropped us right at our hotel so we didn't need to find other transportation. This wasn't the tour we signed up for but it was absolutely worth it.

Good Experience except for the Elevator to Christ The Redeemer

Our guide, Luis was a very nice person, spoke English very well. The pick-up was right on time. The lunch was an amazing one but for some reason, no drinks are included, not even water. The only downside was that the trip says its a train ride to the Christ The Redeemer but we were taken by an elevator probably because the queue for the train was a long one. But, I believe the Tour Organizers should anticipate this and promise only what they can deliver. Apart from this bummer, the tour went very well. They give you enough time to click pictures. :)

We decided for the best so you and rest of the group wouldnt loose time in queque lines. Ths day, Corcovado was very crowed and passengers were taking more than 2 hours to go up. Semi-private tour with very friendly guide and driver and one other couple - much easier than with a large van. Plenty of time at Sugar Loaf and Cristina Redentor. Did not see stadium (closed) but visited Selaron staircase.

Full day sugar loaf and Christ redeemer

We had bad weather all day. Our tour guide for sugar loaf was nice and gave a lot of free time to enjoy the view. Our afternoon tour guide die the Chris redeemer was a little strange. He doesn’t interact with us. We can’t really understand him well.

This was a great experience! Guides were on time and travelling was very comfortable. Able to see lots of beautiful sites in Rio. Also amazing views of the city of Rio from both Sugar loaf and Corcovado for comparison. One Tip: Bring appropriate warm clothes...its cold up at Corcovado!. Food was really good. Only draw back is the wireless headsets that we were given for the information about the sites which at times had static or just no sound at all.

It was ok only. It took hours to wait for the bus and we took round for 3 times i think. I was expecting that escardia selaron, santa teresa will be included. And the due to long hours in Ipanema after lunch, we had a few hours only in christ the redeemer which i expect that we will spend 45-1 hour there.

A must do in Rio. Easy pick up from your hotel. Plenty of time to take in the views and take photographs. Tour guide changed over at lunchtime and both were excellent. Would recommend including lunch option as that in itself was a great experience. Stop at the market place was a bit edgy and I feel it would be good if, at the start of the tour there was a short talk on safety. We opted for a train tour to Corcovado and thought it was excellent.

This tour was great and long we chose the full day option. Sugar Loaf Mountain was fantastic and that first sight of Christ the Redeemer is breathtaking. There are two things I would change: the pick up was late. We were told we would be picked up at 8am, but it was after 9am. Second, included in this tour is an unnecessary 10 minute stop at the St Sebastian cathedral. It doesnt really fit in with the theme of the rest of the tour and was rushed. Otherwise, great tour and the lunch in Ipanema was fantastic!

I give two stars because the tour guides were great and spoke fantastic Spanish and English, in addition to Portuguese. I encountered two problems on this tour: 1 The tour did not pick me up on the day that I signed up for it. I spoke via phone with someone and coordinated a pick-up in front of a hotel. I arrived 15 minutes before pick-up time and waited for an hour. I saw one Gray Line bus go by in the far lane that clearly had no intention of stopping it may have been for a different tour?. When I called Gray Line, they said they had stopped by and I wasn't there. They requested that I take a taxi to downtown to meet them, which I was told by a driver would be R 70. I asked them if I could do the tour the following day instead, and they agreed. We coordinated for them to pick me up in that same pick-up spot the next day, and it worked out fine that time. 2 The 10-hour tour included lunch in Ipanema. I was told by the guides that Viator had not given them the money for my lunch, so I could not eat at the restaurant with the group. My ticket which I had with me clearly said that it included lunch, but the tour guides spoke with their managers at Gray Line and insisted that Viator had not given them money for my lunch. The tour had 20-30 people who all at together, and this only impacted me ?. I walked to another restaurant to eat and then read a book outside the restaurant where the tour group eating was for about an hour. It was awkward for me and awkward for the tour guides, as they were following the instructions from their supervisors.

The tour was OK. We probably used more time than what was necessary. We had lunch in a brazilian steakhouse. The food and the service were good and the restrooms were clean. The main atractions were OK. The weather was not the best, so we didn't have the oportunity to fully enjoy the view from the Corcovado and Christ Redeemer. Overall it was a nice day in Rio.
