We booked this experience as the two of us wanted to experience some wines and meats here in Brazil. It was just the two of us and Roberto as our guide and we had a great evening. Roberto was very friendly, explained all of the meats that were coming out and how the restaurant worked. It was great hearing about his past and sharing stories. We left the restaurant having had some great food, very full and happy!

More Red Wine Please

The food was excellent and our host was a great guy. We did enjoy it. The wines were good. Only recommendation is: Host should ask if anyone would like a white wine. None of us really did. Then we never got the red wine until we were almost finished with our meal. The red wine MUST be served when we are starting to eat the wonderful red meats. Offer 2 different red wines instead of the white.

High Energy Churrascaria Experience

This was a great example of a meal at a Churrascaria complete with informative background from Roberto - our host. He walked us through the extensive salad bar and then explained the multitude of grilled meats coming from the kitchen. The 3 wines (a bubbly, a white, and a red) were nice but there wasn’t much discussion of pairings. All in all, it was a great experience and no one left hungry.

Overpriced and disappointing

This experience was a total waste of money. We booked this dinner anticipating a more upscale and personalized churrascaria experience considering the price tag (USD$89 per person). We aren't new to Brazilian churrascarias. Before going to this particular dinner, we went to a couple of different churrascarias while visiting Rio, which were higher in quality and significantly cheaper. The steak offerings at this churrascaria were overly salty and simply mediocre. Our host Roberto was very friendly and we loved his energy initially. However, he spoke way too much about his background rather than steak cuts and preparations. Though we enjoyed him initially, we started to get a bit overwhelmed by his energy. At one point he spat on my face and my plate while speaking, although I am sure that was unintentional, nevertheless, I was grossed out for the rest of my dinner. After the dinner, we were very disappointed and felt this experience was a complete tourist trap. We also realized that we pay less money for a dinner at Fogo de Chao in the USA.

As for the quality of the churrascaria steakhouse we work with: we have two options, the first option (and the one you chose) is that traditional Brazilian churrascaria, that focuses on red meats, as per tradition. The other pricier option is at Churrascaria Palace, that has amazonian fish, various seafood options as well as the traditional cuts of red meat. This pricier your option might have been what you were looking for. As for your evening with our guide Roberto, it seemed, from his recollection, now you guys were having a lot of fun, at a cultural and social level. It's very hard for me to comment on how detailed he should be about answering questions about personal life... you asked he answered. We hope to see you again in one of our other food tours around Rio.

Roberto was the best host for this dinner. Although I was a solo, there was another gentleman who had booked the same dinner that evening as well. Roberto has lived in multiple countries and his respect and understanding of other cultures is truly admirable. I definitely had more than usual share of dinner trying out the various meat options. Roberto gave nice information about Rio de Janeiro as well. Young or old alike, he is well at ease and will make it a memorable evening for anyone. Highly recommended activity if you are in Rio even for a day!

Don't skip this! Probably the best meal I've had in Brazil, not just for the food but for the explanations as to what I tasted. Our dinner guide was very funny and smart and knowledgeable of Brazilian culture. The best bang for buck in Rio!

This was by far the most fun evening in Rio! Incredible food, drinks and conversation. Our dinner guide Nyala has an incredible cultural baggage, not just Brazilian but International so it was fun and interesting from beginning to end. I wish other destinations had such a type of guided dinner. Highest recommendation!

It is incredible how all these exotic and Incredibly flavorful fruits never made it outside Brazil! Our guide was very helpful and we got to try tons of fruits! Some I'm bringing back as jam and liqueur. Highly recommended to all hard-core foodies.

È stata di gran lunga la conversazione più interessante che ho avuto con un brasiliano durante il mio viaggio a Rio, in quanto abbiamo parlato di cultura brasiliana, consigli di viaggio a Rio e dintorni e, naturalmente, di cibo brasiliano. Il cibo è abbondante e sorprendente ed è fantastico che la nostra guida Nyala sia stata attenta a indicare ciò che valeva la pena di assaggiare, in modo da non riempirci rapidamente, come è successo prima e in altre esperienze di churascaira. Questa esperienza è il miglior rapporto qualita- prezzo quando si tratta di andare a mangiare in una bisteccheria brasiliana, dato che, secondo i miei calcoli, abbiamo speso probabilmente lo stesso che avremmo speso se fossimo andati da soli, e saremmo stati sprovvisti di informazioni su ogni boccone e decontestualizzati. Lo consiglio vivamente a tutti coloro che visitano Rio.
