Highly recommend! From pickup to drop off Juao was an exceptional guide. We really enjoyed the small group tour experience. It was an amazing day in the beautiful Duoro Valley!
Such a great day!! John was amazing, attentive and always fun!! The boat ride was relaxing and the crew was top notch, fun and informative. Views were spectacular!!! One of THE best day trips I’ve ever done, anywhere. Amazing scenery, phenomenal wines, unique family winery experiences, a beautiful river cruise, a delicious, chilled, theatrical lunch, and a truly brilliant guide in Juao. Dress comfortably as the weather varies and hotter in the valley. Bring water and small snack for drive up as it is 90 minutes.
great small group of no more than 8 people. filipe was a great driver/guide and able to break the ice easily for all to bond. beautiful views and great insight provided on where we were and process of port wine being made. food and wine provided were excellent despite the heat making being outside a bit unbearable. would recommend!
This is our first experience with any tour and Felipe and Viator knocked it out of the park. This was an all day Douro Valley tour from 8-5. Felipe was an amazing tour guide. The stop for lunch was absolutely delicious, river boat guide was great….everything was perfect. This was the best day of our vacation.

What an excellent day out! We covered a lot in a relatively short time but it never felt rushed. João was a great tour guide, very relaxed and friendly and with great knowledge to impart. The port tasting was great, the boat ride was fun and relaxing and the lunch was excellent with plenty of wine to try. I’m glad we booked a small group tour, it felt very personal. I can highly recommend.
It’s a small group so you get to know everyone. Hernan was an amazing host and driver and took us to the best small wineries. Food, wine and company were the best! Douro valley and the boat ride were spectacular! Highly recommend!
Our tour guide was great, and lunch was beautiful and delicious. The scenery throughout the Douro Valley is also obviously stunning. That said, there are a few things I wish we had known beforehand. You spend a significant portion of the day in the van—nearly 5 of the 8 hours—and the winding roads can be tough if you’re even remotely prone to carsickness. The route also involved some backtracking between stops, which made the driving feel longer than necessary.
The boat ride was quite short, and most of the wine tastings focused on port, so keep that in mind if you’re hoping to try a wider variety of Douro wines. Lunch also isn’t until around 1:30, so I’d recommend eating beforehand and bringing water, as none was provided in the van.
Overall, we enjoyed our guide, lunch, and the beautiful setting, but I think the itinerary could be more efficiently planned to reduce the amount of time spent in the car and make better use of the day. And I hope you like port wine.

This was an excellent and very informative say trip. The views on the ride were lovely throughout the day. Jean was a great guide with so much knowledge about wine The stops were also great with interesting local experts. To top it all off we had a delicious lunch and were offered as much as we would like. We would highly recommend Jean and this trip!
Joao was an excellent guide - he paid attention to every detail, was knowledgeable and passionate about both wine and Portugal. A very safe driver on the narrow country roads as well! The food, wine, and tour information was all wonderful. We also really enjoyed the gorgeous boat ride and tour with (a different) Joao!
We had a really perfect day. Our guide Jean was really friendly and had some great knowledge of the area and of wine. The locations - wineries and scenery were beautiful. Lunch was delicious and there was plenty of food and drink. Would highly recommend to anyone, we were really glad we chose to do a smaller group as it was more special and we had a private boat and table for the meal with our group who were all great.
It was a wonderful day in the Duoro Valley area. The port sampling, the lunch and the extensive information share by Tiago!! Tiago was our tour guide and was a wealth of information and expression. We are thankful to have home guide us throughout the day with his stories and knowledge. The boat ride was a visual experience and Hugo and the captain were delightful!! I had been in the fence about this tour due to the amount of time. Honestly one of the best experiences we had while Portugal. Beautiful drive through the Dourro Valley. Our guide was very knowledgeable about wine and the region. The van was comfortable. Eat a good breakfast — there were a lot wines to try. We had a little cruise up the river (just under an hour). Finally lunch — beautiful delicious meal (I thought we’d be eating g a sandwich on the boat). We tried many wines with lunch. It was one of our best meals in Portugal in beautiful outdoor setting. I
We had a wonderful day visiting the Douro Valley. Jean was a fantastic tour guide with tons of knowledge, super friendly and gave us many recommendations for places to eat in Porto. The port and wine tasting was informative as well as delicious as was the lunch. Stunning views and a very special setting for lunch made our day a memorable one. Definitely worth the money to be in a small group too - we met some really lovely people. Highly recommend this trip.
I did a lot of research into this as there are many options for various prices. Another one I was considering was around £80pp, this one is more, but I thought will I remember the extra cash for what sounds like a better experience. The reviews for this tour didn’t lie. Small group, excellent guides, safe driving, great food and wines I was very impressed. Glad I chose to spend the extra cash (and I love a bargain). Would do the same tour again.
