Joao was an excellent guide - he paid attention to every detail, was knowledgeable and passionate about both wine and Portugal. A very safe driver on the narrow country roads as well! The food, wine, and tour information was all wonderful. We also really enjoyed the gorgeous boat ride and tour with (a different) Joao!

We had a really perfect day. Our guide Jean was really friendly and had some great knowledge of the area and of wine. The locations - wineries and scenery were beautiful. Lunch was delicious and there was plenty of food and drink. Would highly recommend to anyone, we were really glad we chose to do a smaller group as it was more special and we had a private boat and table for the meal with our group who were all great.

It was a wonderful day in the Duoro Valley area. The port sampling, the lunch and the extensive information share by Tiago!! Tiago was our tour guide and was a wealth of information and expression. We are thankful to have home guide us throughout the day with his stories and knowledge. The boat ride was a visual experience and Hugo and the captain were delightful!! Thank you to all for making it a wonderful day!!

I had been in the fence about this tour due to the amount of time. Honestly one of the best experiences we had while Portugal. Beautiful drive through the Dourro Valley. Our guide was very knowledgeable about wine and the region. The van was comfortable. Eat a good breakfast — there were a lot wines to try. We had a little cruise up the river (just under an hour). Finally lunch — beautiful delicious meal (I thought we’d be eating g a sandwich on the boat). We tried many wines with lunch. It was one of our best meals in Portugal in beautiful outdoor setting. I

We had a wonderful day visiting the Douro Valley. Jean was a fantastic tour guide with tons of knowledge, super friendly and gave us many recommendations for places to eat in Porto. The port and wine tasting was informative as well as delicious as was the lunch. Stunning views and a very special setting for lunch made our day a memorable one. Definitely worth the money to be in a small group too - we met some really lovely people. Highly recommend this trip.

I did a lot of research into this as there are many options for various prices. Another one I was considering was around £80pp, this one is more, but I thought will I remember the extra cash for what sounds like a better experience. The reviews for this tour didn’t lie. Small group, excellent guides, safe driving, great food and wines I was very impressed. Glad I chose to spend the extra cash (and I love a bargain). Would do the same tour again.

Hernan was a superfantastic guide. His expertise about wine and Portugal .He made this trip special. We learned so much about the history of Portugal and the other countries that linked to Portugal. He was fun and explained the wine making process in an easy way for us beginners. We loved this trip and made friends and memories for a lifetime.

Our guide Miguel was very knowledgeable & informative about entire Douro valley, knew all the picturesque spots & even took beautiful pictures for individual parties of the group. The river guide Pasquale was just as informative & very entertaining. And what a way to end the tour with Our last winery’s wine/port tastings & delicious lunch. We enjoyed this tour very much & would highly recommend it.

Loved our day, spent with our guide Tiago (and some wonderful folks also from N America). Tiago clearly has an extensive culinary background and was able to share his passions with us. He kept us on track, but didn’t miss a question, though he anticipated and answered most. The tour itself was constructed well, with various stops that were well-paced, without too much driving at any time. Both wineries were lovely and the last, which included lunch, was especially so. There were hints about surprises ahead, which were indeed surprises and very welcome. The lunch, which included generous offerings of appropriately paired wines, was delicious and the portions ample. Simply said, a great day overall, something we’d highly recommend if you wish to sample the best of the Douro Valley.

Amazing scenery, interesting info about winery in Portugal, friendly and well informed guide (Sergio). The Fonseca winery experience was good but it lacked some introduction from the wine makers and some treat. The boat ride was nothing special, but the feeling of being in a boat crossing the Douro felt charming. The guide was talking too much and we couldn’t relax and enjoy the ride. The last stop was at a great place with a great potential considering the traditional cooking on the fireplace but the quantity was poor and the wine they offered wasn’t just decent. We loved the final part of the visit with the glass cut ritual. All in all it was a nice experience but it lacked elements that would make it an unforgettable experience.

This was an excellent day trip. Cris was brilliant and had loads of relevant knowledge, the boat trip along the Douro was brilliant thanks to the crew that provided a fun history of the region whilst serving some great Port & Tonic!
Would highly recommend this trip and if you have the opportunity search Cris out for food walking tours also.

Wow, This tour was fantastic! Our guide, Miguel was very knowledgeable and engaging. The Douro Valley is a must see when in Lisbon or Porto. The wine tastings, river cruise and lunch were all amazing. We highly recommend this tour. Also, a big thanks to Miguel for volunteering to drop us at the train station at the end of the tour. Thanks to him we made the outgoing train back to Lisbon. We would have missed it otherwise and would have had to wait another hour. We are very appreciative.

This was an amazing journey - from the travel to the Douro valley, the boat ride with a white port spritzer (the boat guide and captain were charming and informative), the visit to Fonseca and an incredible lunch (they even had Antonio, the cat to greet us!) I strongly recommend this adventure, and Sergio was the best!

My boyfriend and I took this small‑group day trip to the Douro Valley from Porto, and it ended up being one of the absolute highlights of our entire Portugal trip, and the perfect way to celebrate my 30th birthday!
Our guide, Jean, truly made the day. His knowledge of the region, wine, history, and culture was incredible. He was friendly, funny, kind, and made us feel completely safe, comfortable and looked out for the entire time. His driving was excellent, and he clearly knew the area inside and out, which made the whole experience feel effortless and relaxed.
Lunch was delicious, and I really appreciated that they offered gluten‑free options without any issue. The wines were excellent, and every stop felt thoughtful and well‑chosen.
The boat ride was also wonderful, the skipper and guide were very knowledgeable and so friendly, and the scenery along the river was breathtaking.
One of the best parts was the small group size, which made the tour feel intimate and personalized, so much better than the large, crowded tours we saw around us. It felt like a curated experience rather than a generic excursion.
Everyone involved made my birthday feel incredibly special, and I couldn’t recommend this tour more highly. If you’re visiting Porto, this is an absolute must!!!

What a day! An absolute must for any port wine lover. Small group - just 6 of us - is the only way to go as our experience was personalized and we could go places big buses couldn’t . The stop at Fonsecas Quinto was breathtaking, our guide on the small riverboat was a delight and the lunch in “St Martin of the donkey”. Was absolutely delicious . Be sure to ask for Sarah as your guide - she was informative and flexible and speaks flawless English. This is a day we’re sure to remember n

We set out early for our trip to the Duoro Valley. Sergiu was there on time with his warm & welcoming smile. We felt very safe as he expertly navigated through narrow roads & winding pathways, regaling us with stories & history of places we were seeing. Our time on the river was delightful & the vineyard wines & lunch were generous & delicious. It was a great day out!

This trip was so fun and well worth the price! Our tour guide Hernan was very knowledgeable about the region and made our whole day enjoyable. The team who did the boat trip — our captain and co-captain were 10/10 and shared a ton of information about the valley's natural environment and the development of Port wine. It was a nice side trip (complete with a port & tonic) and then we were able to visit two wineries and have a multi-course lunch. Overall, I believe we all received about 6-7 glasses of port. The trip does take most of the day but again, very well worth it. Would recommend!

Our guide Jean was the best and made us feel like family. He was extremely kind, patient, and attentive. The lunch was spectacular would go back for this! The boat ride was so peaceful and quiet on a private boat. If you are considering you should definitely do this!!!

The tour was exactly as described-so much great I formation on the valley and his knowledge of the port wine process is great. We learned so much and had a great time, he was clear, easy to understand, and so very patient but kept us on schedule! He also had a great playlist!!

Started a little slow (boat tour not as long as expected, but absolutely beautiful) but the second winery and their food made the whole experience worth it. Best meal we’ve had in Portugal and gave us a perfect amount of wine. Absolutely beautiful views. Jean was a great driver and gave some good fun facts.

Everything we needed to know was communicated to us before our trip. We did check on our pick up point prior to the trip so that we knew where it was. Just go with the flow we had a blast & our guide Jean was the best.
