We chose this sailing trip because it also included a sail on the ocean before and after entering the river.
The river was beautiful but the ocean sail allowed us to see the coast from a different view. We say some cool beaches which we later explored.

Very disappointed the sails never went up. Wind was a bit strong but with only 1 crew and 5 passengers it wouldn't have been the wise to try and sail. The skipper was about as nice as could be. A young man with a goal of sailing for his country in the Olympics. Nice to be around a young person reaching for a dream. The boat was in good shape and did have choices for beverages. I would have rather had the trip cancelled and taken one of the many river boats that were right on the river. Sailing is always subject to weather and I would have preferred this was cancelled as I wanted to be under sail.

Thanks for your review. That feedback will help us to improve our experience to our guests.
As you said: Sailing is always subject to weather. So, when we know in advance that there are no conditions to sail, we always try to reschedule the experience. However, sometimes just when we are at the marina, at the starting time, we really understand how it is the weather. If it is too strong, for safety reasons we cancel the experience.
However, if it is too soft, some windy or wavy, we adjust the experience to the group. In the experience you mention the skipper decided that would be more comfortable for everybody not to open the sails. When this happens we should ask the guests if they want to proceed without sailing or to cancel with total refund.
Did Henrique, the skipper, mention that possibility or not? If not, please, tell me and I will ask the refund toTrip Advisor.
Anyway, it will be a pleasure to have you and a friend again at our sailing boat Diva for a free sailing experience, now with good weather conditions.

We booked this tour after being told by multiple people to book Douro river tour cruise and were not disappointed. We boarded the sail boat with 2 other couples and were off sailing to the douro. It was relaxing and very informative. The skipper was very knowledgeable, personable, and genuinely enjoys sailing. See the city from the river, you will not be disappointed.

Very foggy when we left and returned to slip but river was fog free and nice. Although our young captain was very experienced, being a boater, I would have expected him to go over safety measures before we left. If you go on a foggy day, reconsider. Going through the channel and up the coast in the ocean in very dense fog is not for inexperienced boaters.

This was a great experience, nice boat trip along the coast and up the Douro river to the city centre. Very pleasant captain who was clearly a truly expert sailor.

Henrique, le skipper qui a remplacé Paulo pour cette journée, a été un excellent compagnon de voyage, très agréable et professionnel. Il a su faire confiance à mon mari pour la navigation, a répondu à notre soif d'informations sur son pays et sa passion, et s'est mis en retrait pour que nous profitions de ce moment magique en amoureux.
Un grand merci pour cette escapade qui m'a fait découvrir Porto sous un autre angle et a ravi mon mari qui a repris la barre à cette occasion !
