We had a great time discovering Porto on our segways with our guide, Diogo, who showed us all aspects from the touristy areas to where the real Portuguese live and work. He was very informative and took all our needs into account. Having a coffee break with pastel de nata included half way through was very welcome and a nice treat.

Itinerary

After you meet your guide in central Porto, listen to safety and operational briefing about your easy-to-operate, self-balancing electric Segway. Then strap on a helmet and begin your Porto Segway tour.

As you glide through Porto to the downtown district of Ribeira, a UNESCO-listed historic center, cruise by baroque churches and Moorish tiled buildings. Stop at the stunning 12th century Porto Cathedral. Admire this architectural champion of Romanesque design and learn how Porto experienced a surge of growth during its construction.

Next, take a break at the double-decker iron bridge Ponte de Dom Luis I which spans the Douro River. Snag some great photos and hear how this bridge was engineered by Gustav Eiffel’s apprentice. Nearby in Liberdade Square, observe the monument to King Peter IV, a monarch closely cherished in Porto. Then, continue to one of the globe’s most impressive train stations São Bento Station and marvel at its elegant design.

From here, soar by the majestic Clérigos Tower as you wind into the picturesque district of Miragaia. Snap your final Segway selfies and coast back to the center of Porto to say farewell to your guide.

Porto on a Segway is the Best Way

Segways not Charged, no compensation

We carefully booked months in advance, double checked in person the day before, and arrived 15 mins early as specified in our booking instructions. Despite all this, after waiting 35/40 mins, we were informed the segways had not been charged and we could either do a walking tour or come back in 5/6 hours or get a refund. We watched 3 other customers who had arrived later than us go off on their tour as they spoke French and so did their guide ‍️. To be fair, I don’t think they knew at this point that the other segways were uncharged . We were gutted and it spoilt our day. No compensation of any kind was offered. We wandered about for the next 5 hours seeing a lot of the things that we then saw when we finally did the Segway tour. When we finally did the tour in the afternoon, the guide ( Vinnie) was lovely and very helpful and friendly and we enjoyed the 3 hour ride. The bad experience in the morning was terrible customer service that no attempt was made to rectify.

Great tour. Safety issues

The tour was great, the guide very knowledgeable. My concern is safety- you go though the busy roads with cars passing by. The instructions on how to use the Segway should be improved - I fell in front on the street and the car almost ran me over.

This was an exceptional experience that could not have been any better. I highly recommend. Our guide Roy was great and knows the city well. The Segways are very easy to ride. With 45 seconds of instruction, you will feel confident on them. This is by far the best way to see the highlights of a city, and it’s just plain fun.

Igor was the best! This was a great tour. We were lucky as it was pouring rain as we were approaching the shop, which stopped for the duration of the entire tour, and started again as the tour ended. Igor was knowledgeable of the city and the interaction with him was great. This ended up being a private tour, so we had a great time zooming around just the 3 of us. We saw a lot of great sights and learned some history. Very fun time! Ask for Igor if you're going to take this!

Our tour guide, Miguel, was extremely knowledgeable about the history of Porto and also had a great sense of humor and personality. The Segways themselves are amazingly fun and do a great job of going up and down the steep hills of Porto.

Segways are the best way to experience a lot of the city in a smallish group. There are too many bike tour members and it’s harder to collect and hear your guide on a bike when compared to a Segway. We enjoyed our Porto Segway tour with Xavier.

Sophia our guide was a wealth of knowledge on the area. She made getting around the city a breeze showing all the need to know places. It was great for first timers to get a quick glimpse of the city without having to navigate all the hills on foot.

Our guide Miguel was fantastic. He was humorous, friendly, handled our traffic-anxiety with ease. We felt very comfortable with the segways after only 15 minutes of practice/training. Miguel led us around the city explaining history we could not have found in books. We discussed the culture of the citizens and the building of the country. But the best part...segways were an "absolute blast" according to our two birthday twins!

My sons and I took the Segway tour of Porto and our tour guide was Fabio S. We had a wonderful time seeing many of the historic and cultural sites of this amazing city and Fabio was a very friendly and knowledgeable host. He made sure we were comfortable on the Segways the entire time and was quick to answer every question we had. In addition, he generously shared stories about his life in Porto, which we appreciated and found interesting. Overall, we had a great time and would recommend this tour and Fabio. He really cared about giving us a great experience, and he succeeded!
