Itinerary
Meet your guide and group in Paris’ Marais neighborhood, and head to the train station to travel to Versailles.
Here, you’ll take to two wheels for a tour of the Versailles Gardens—aka the grounds of the Palace of Versailles. With a mix of walking and cycling, the tour takes in highlights such as Marie Antionette’s Hamlet and the Trianons, while giving you the background color on the castle and its past occupants.
Stop for lunch by the Grand Canal, eating the picnic that you bought at the market before having entered Versailles. Afterwards, your time is your own to visit the Palace of Versailles at your leisure. Your guide will pass you your entrance ticket and train ticket, and give you the information you need for an afternoon of easy sightseeing. You’ll return to Paris independently, when you want.

Our group of 12 had a really great time with guide Marlie. She was a delight and made our trip such fun despite the bit of drizzle. We learned so much from her relatable stories and were happy to get some book recommendations as well. We highly enjoyed this day trip.

We could not have had a better time and the tour was beyond anything we imagined. Marley provided all the history while making the experience enjoyable for all. This will be an experience we will always remember.

The tour was well organized from beginning (meeting point) to end. Our guide, Marley, was personable, fun and knowledgeable. She ensured participants were safe and had a good time. The sites were spectacular. We very much enjoyed our visit to the town of Versailles.

Not exactly a bike tour.
It was more a walking tour with a minor biking portion. Ended up walking over 10km with biking an additional 5km. By the time we walked through the train and metro stations to get the train, then walk to the bike storage in Versailles , we were staring to get tired. We had understood the visit through the gardens was on bike but it wasn't. It was a walking tour of the gardens. All that to say by the time we returned to Chateau Versailles at 3:30, We were too tired to walk through the chateau. Guide Jude was great though.

This is good for kids if they are comfortable on a bike. A great way to see the city and Versailles. Bring water! Jude was an excellent guide.

We had a great time on the bike tour. Marley was fun and helped us really connect with the history, even the 18 yrs olds. Loved biking around the gardens and picnic lunch was fantastic. Touring through palace was done on your own at the end.

This was a great tour! I am so glad we chose to do a bike tour. There is really no other way to explore the grounds as extensively since Versailles is huge. Our guide, Marley, was fun but also extremely knowledgeable and we walked away with a new understanding of French history that we were not expecting. It is a long day and pretty tiring (and even though we were on bikes, it does involve a lot of walking) but 100% worth it. Do it!

It's a bike tour that also has a lot of walking. Pedometer registered 8.9 miles at the end. Bike ride was about 10 miles. Market we stopped doesn't take credit cards so bring cash. Advertised as 8.5 hours. Started at 8:15. At 4 we were just going into the Palace. Unfortunately for us we had to be back for a dinner and still had to spend an hour get back to the starting point. So we had to skip the main event. Plan on longer. Tour guide was excellent. We would have liked less walking more biking and time to see the palace. Should advertise it as 8.5 hours ends in Versailles not at the starting point. Scenery was beautiful. Skip the long walking farm part and head to the Palace. Book an e bike tour if you tire easily.

Bonjour Diane, thank you for your thoughts on the bike tour in Versailles. I’m thrilled you enjoyed our guides as they really make the day fun and informative. In terms of biking, we make it a point to see the town, food market and all the grounds of the royal park. We do indeed need to walk into Marie Antoinette’s village to explore, as well as in the fountain area of the royal gardens. This is our 15th year leading tours in Versailles and we really do our best to make the day fun, easy and enjoyable. Merci!

It was a fun way to visit Versailles. Our tour guide, Jude was very knowledgeable and made it a fun experience. My kids really enjoyed it and the bike riding made it more fun.

Cedric was the best! His knowledge of French history made our trip so enjoyable. During our walk to the train we also got a nice historical walking tour through that part of Paris. The bike tour through Versailles was awesome. Loved the opportunity to see so much and again Cedric’s commentary made the trip perfect. We had a leisurely lunch in the shade by the Grand Canal before we rode to explore more of the gardens and pirate buildings. I had been to Versailles before and took the train through the gardens, but missed so much of what we experienced on this tour. I would give it a 10 of that was on the scale!

We enjoyed this tour very much and our guide Allan was friendly and informative. The only issue we had was my wife’s bicycle chain kept falling off during the tour. Other than that we enjoyed the tour very much.

Marley was a fantastic guide knowledgeable and do fun. Made history so interesting. She even made a celebration for my birthday. Could not have been a better day to turn 70.

Every minute of this tour was fantastic. From the meeting point to the end, our Guide David was exceptional. It was a nice size group of 3 couples and we all got along great. Loved all the biking. Plenty of time for shopping and great suggestions for lunch. Stopping at Versailles for a picnic was so fun. We were able to chat and learn about each other as well as a lot of great history about Versailles. David our guide was amazing. Best guide we’ve had in Paris.

David was a wonderful and thoughtful who made the experience fun and informative with interesting stories about the grounds, the buildings and their famous occupants.

Great experience! There is a little bit bumper that our train station was closed. But our guide managed to catch everything up. We experienced sun, cloud, rain. So much fun biking in the huge garden.
sylwesley, Oct 2024
We are now just starting to appreciate Marley's excellent royal-history-in-a-capsule
This provided excellent context to "the remnants of royal existence"
(Carnavalet Museum may be a good follow-up to the royal soap opera)

David was an excellent tour guide. He was professional and also very friendly, which made the tour very enjoyable. He conveyed the historical facts about Versailles and the people who lived there in a clear and interesting way. It rained during the tour and David remained upbeat and also provided much appreciated ponchos. Despite rain it was a fun day. I would recommend the tour to friends.

We had a wonderful time twitch Jude, he was very knowledgeable and showed us so much before we parted ways to explore on our own. The bike ride was wonderful and not difficult at all.
Highly recommend this tour

Even though it rained still had a great time
I had been to palace before but this provided things I have not seen, what a nice day trip

We all agree that Ryan made this tour absolutely perfect. His theatrical experience brought this tour to life. His knowledge of the history of France/ Versailles was impressive and he relayed it to our diverse group very well. The whole group was laughing and having an amazing time. Market experience was great and Ryan gave great pointers on food to buy. Riding the bikes around the grounds of Versailles and the picnic by the Grand Canal was so picturesque. There’s no better way to do this experience! It is worth the day trip away from Paris :)!!
Ann_R, Aug 2024
This was a great way to see Versailles and get to enjoy more of the gardens including Marie Antoinette’s house and where the mistress lived. The palace was beautiful. We saw and enjoyed so much more than we would have without this tour. David was a wonderful guide.
Joshua_B, Aug 2024
David is an amazing guide! Great way to see the expanse of Versailles. We went on Tuesday, market day, so it was perfect.
Karyn_E, Jul 2024
Amazing experience! Marley was the best. Fun energy for kids! She was so lovely very knowledgeable on the history and made it fun for the kids.
Elizabeth_B, Jul 2024
Our guide, David was fantastic! The bike tour of Versailles was by far our family’s favorite activity of our trip to Paris!
Matt_B, Jul 2024
The tour was ok, the guide was good. There were 21 people in our tour which was beyond excessive. That many people can’t bike together down busy city streets. The amount of time consumed waiting for that many people to cross roads, get bikes locked up at every stop etc made this tour one I would NOT recommend. If I was to do it again I’d go to the palace and walk around you could do the same activities in a fraction of the time for a fraction of the price.
Response from Host, Jul 2024
Hi Matt, thank you for your review. I’m glad you enjoyed your guide during your Versailles bike tour. Unfortunately we did have a sick guide last minute on the day of your tour, so the group was indeed larger than we would typically take. However we did have a second staff member there riding at the back of the group to help things move along safely. I still hope you enjoyed exploring the town, local food market, royal gardens, French picnic,Marie Antoinette’s village & of course the famous palace.
Joey_B, Jul 2024
A perfect day! Marley our tour guide was fun and knowledgeable and made this day even better. From the market visit to the garden tours and bike riding, this was a special day. I can’t imagine trying to see Versailles on your own…or without a bicycle to cover the vast grounds. Excellent communication before, during and after this tour. You don’t need to be competing in the Tour de France to participate but you do need to be able to handle a leisurely day of bike riding. Highly recommend.
Thank you Marley!!
Julie_W, Jul 2024
Our tour guide, Marley, was very energetic, fun and gave us a great tour full of history and many fun facts. She made Versailles so real for us. We saw so much more than if we had just gone on a day trip by ourselves. I highly recommend this tour if you want a memorable trip. Good family fun!!!
Julie_D, Jun 2024
We really enjoyed the trip overall. Ryan was very friendly, fun and knowledgeable. We enjoyed wandering around the markets & loved the biking. But, we felt like the tour was way too long and could’ve been cut down to a few hours. We wish there was more biking and less stopping.
Michelle_T, Jun 2024
Marley was such an amazing tour guide! We had so much fun biking in and around Versailles and having lunch with our delicious items from the farmers market. It is a day we will always remember! Thank you so much 😍

Our guide Jude was an excellent guide, he made the trip fun and informative. He answered all our questions and provided so much information. It was a cold and rainy morning but I would do it all again.. Thank you Jude for an awesome experience
