We had a wonderful time on this two‑hour walking tour of Montmartre. Our guide was knowledgeable about the neighborhood’s rich artistic and cultural history, sharing stories of painters, poets, and the evolution of the area in a way that felt both engaging and effortless.
A delicious part of the tour was his thoughtful selection of chocolates along the way. The variety was especially impressive — diverse in flavor and absolutely delicious.
One of the most memorable moments was our visit to The Lemon Story, a charming shop that added a bright, unexpected twist to the culinary portion of the tour. It fit perfectly into the rhythm of the walk and gave us a refreshing taste of something unique to the area.
Overall, this tour blended history, flavor, and local charm beautifully. If you want to explore Montmartre with someone who knows its past — and its pastries — inside and out, this is an excellent choice.

Loik was awesome. Fun stories, great experience, and wonderful treats. Highly recommend! Walked through the streets of Montmartre, experience local flavor and sites, and tasty pastries, marmalade, and chocolates.
Just keep in mind it is a walking, tour up and down the hill of Montmartre. Loik set an easy pace, but just be aware.

Thank you very much for the kind review ! I’m delighted that you enjoyed the stories, the tastings, and discovering Montmartre’s streets and flavors. It was a pleasure having you on the tour.

It was a rainy and cold day when we did the tour; however, Lancelot was an amazing guide and truly made the most of it. His energy and knowledge completely elevated the experience.
We sampled four incredible pastries — from delicate petit meringue cakes to a traditional French cake — along with a classic French hot chocolate. Everything was absolutely delicious.
In addition to the food, we learned so much about the Montmartre area and the many famous residents who once lived there. The history and stories added so much depth to the experience.
One important note: be prepared for a lot of walking. There are plenty of hills, stairs, and both ascending and descending steps. By the end, you will definitely have earned a beverage (and maybe a few extra pastries!).
Would we do the tour again? Yes — absolutely. However, we would be mindful of who we bring along, simply because of the amount of walking and stairs involved.

Fascinating tour about the history of Paris, the Montmarte area and the artists who spent their time there.
On top of that visited some yummy pastry shops / artisan producers who all had a very interesting story.
Loik my guide is an excellent story teller.
I have visited Montmartre many times but for the first time, I really felt connected to it.

Great experience and many tragic stories to enjoy. Fascinating and would recommend this tour for anyone with a love of pastry and sweets.

Luik had great stories and everything we sampled was delish!! Be ready to slowly walk the hill to the top.

Great, friendly & insightful tour with super friendly guide. Loïc shared interesting stories and made us discover lovely local pastry shops. We had a wonderful afternoon and we highly recommend this great Paris tour of Montmartre!

Book this experience! If you’re curious about Montmartre (and you should be, it’s a completely unique neighborhood in Paris full of history, art, and the joyous living of Parisian life, not to mention phenomenal food, shopping and views), you cannot find a better tour guide than Loki. He knows so much about the area, is friendly and funny, and has EXCELLENT taste in pastries and chocolate. Incorporating both history and sweets is a great way to please everyone. My 17 year old daughter and I were his only clients on a rainy Tuesday and so our group tour turned into a private one. I can’t say enough good things about our experience. If we had more time (and energy!) we’d have booked more of his tours, no question. If you’re looking at this tour, or any time with Loki, I promise you’ll be thrilled.

Thank you so much for this incredible review Rebecca, reading it genuinely made my day !
It was a pleasure showing you both around Montmartre, and I’m glad the rain turned our tour into something even more personal and memorable. I love sharing the stories of the neighborhood (and the pastries that come with them !), so hearing that you enjoyed both the history and the sweets means a lot to me.
Thank you again for taking the time to write such kind words. It truly means the world.
Safe travels,
Loïk

Hi Sharon & Eddie,
Thank you so much for your lovely words ! I’m really happy to hear you enjoyed the stories and the tastings, those pastries and chocolates are definitely unforgettable 😊
It was a pleasure guiding you through Montmartre.
Safe travels back to the UK and I hope to see you again in Paris !

This was a super well balanced tour! Just enough information not to be overwhelmed, and you can always ask and discuss any additional facts and questions, but the desserts along the way are phenomenal too - Loïk has brilliant taste! If you're looking for some fun chill activity while in Paris - book this tour. You'll hear interesting stories not only about Montmartre but Paris in general, and you'll also meet some of the people behind the delicious sweets.
If you're going on the tour during lower temperatures of the year, I recommend grabbing a cup of your favorite warm beverage to not only keep away the cold for at least a little while but to also balance out the sweetness of the desserts.
Response from Host, Nov 2025
Thank you so much for this wonderful review ! I’m really glad you enjoyed both the stories and the desserts, striking that balance is exactly what I aim for
It was a pleasure sharing Montmartre (and its pastry secrets !) with you, and I love your tip about bringing a warm drink in colder months, so true !
Thanks again for joining, and hope to welcome you back in Paris soon

Loik was a great tour guide He made the tour so interesting and fun. The weather was chilly but we kept walking and were able
To go inside for warmth.
The pastries were delicious and everyone was very friendly. Loik was very knowledgeable in the history of the Montmartre artists area also. Had a great time.
Response from Host, Nov 2025
Thank you so much for your kind words ! I’m really glad you enjoyed the tour despite the chilly weather, thankfully Montmartre has a few cozy corners to warm up in
It was a pleasure sharing the stories, the artists, and of course the pastries with you all.
Very happy to hear you had a great time, and hope to see you again in Paris !

First, I would give Loik and his tour TEN stars if I could. My husband wanted a food tour, but I don't appreciate French cuisine enough to make a tour like that worth it; however, we both love sweet treats AND I can't get enough of the history of Paris and France. This was the perfect blend of sweet treats and historical information that was easy to digest. Second, the best part is you walk around the adorable neighborhood of Montmartre, which at one point was home to many of the greats including Monet, Renoir, Degas, Picasso and Van Gogh. Yes, there are souvenir shops along some of the streets but that's no different from places like Times Square in NYC. What was so great about this tour is Loik walks you along the cobblestone streets as he explains some of the history of Paris, gives you interesting pieces information like why Aux Merveilleux has a gorgeous chandelier hanging from the ceiling, and how the monarchy and Napoleon and the artists helped develop the area, Paris, and France. After he explains a certain historical event and/or figure, he takes you to a local shop for a sweet treat. Among the stops was a chocolatier that was founded in 1760, which is older than America. The walking tour lasts about two hours (perfect amount of time and it flies by because it's so fun). It ends at the basilica (go inside, it's free and beautiful) that gives great views of Paris. Loik is very charismatic, extremely knowledgable, and clearly loves Paris and French history. Take this tour - you will NOT be disappointed. Also, we loved that the day we decided to go explore Montmartre, it was close to lunch time so we missed the earlier tour times. We were able to book this tour for the afternoon (3:00 PM). Lastly, Loik gave us a recommendation for dinner because my husband wanted to eat at a French restaurant that was not touristy, but more of the place that locals would dine at in Montmartre. My husband said it was the best meal he had eaten during our entire trip through Europe. Book this tour. It will be a highlight of your time in Paris.

Wow, thank you so much Allyson for this incredible review ! I’m truly touched by your words. I’m very happy to hear the tour struck the perfect balance between sweet treats and Parisian history for both of you, that blend is exactly what I love sharing in Montmartre.
It was a real pleasure walking those historic streets together and exploring the stories behind the artists, the monuments, and the pastries. I’m especially glad you enjoyed the shops and the dinner recommendation afterwards, that means a lot !
Thank you again for choosing this experience and for taking the time to write such a thoughtful review.
I hope Paris will welcome you back very soon !

Great tour, tried delicious pastries and learned a lot of interesting stories from French history. Time wiell spent.
WendyJoy_S, Oct 2025
This was an engaging and super informative tour! My friend & I loved the guide, Loik. He had so many interesting stories about French history and many of the artists who lived in the area. We enjoyed all of the treats as well. I highly recommend this very original tour!
JR_M, Oct 2025
My family were the only ones on this tour for that day. Felt like a private 1 on 1 tour of Montmartre. I could listen to our guide Loik talk about Paris all day long. He is knowledgeable, engaging, and passionate about Montmartre, art, and history. I would suggest before going on this tour to go to the Musée d’Orsay because it really ties together with what Loik goes over and talks about. Felt like that was a wonder 1-2 combo that made our experience that more enriching. The places we ate along the way were some of the best chocolate and macarons in all of Paris. This tour is a must for art/hisotry/sweets and treats lovers.

We had an unforgettable experience on the Pastries and Tragedies tour in Montmartre! As a family of three, we lucked out with a private tour—just us and the guide, who also happens to be the business owner. His deep knowledge of the area and captivating storytelling made every stop memorable.
We indulged in an incredible array of treats: rich chocolates, delicate pastries, standout macarons (honestly better than many we tried elsewhere in Paris), merveilleux, éclairs, jams, jellies, and cookies. Every bite was delicious, and yes—we brought some goodies home!
The walking route was well-paced but covered a good stretch of Montmartre, so comfortable shoes are a must. Ending at the iconic Sacré-Cœur was a perfect finale. We even managed a quick visit inside thanks to a short online booking.
The guide also shared excellent lunch and dinner recommendations, and we enjoyed a fantastic meal at Maime Colette based on his tip. This tour was a highlight of our trip—educational, delicious, and full of hidden gems we wouldn’t have discovered on our own. Highly recommended!

A wonderful walk through a new area of Paris for me. Very informative and wonderfully delicious! Loik is the perfect person to learn anything about Paris from. Generations of born and raised in Paris shows easily through his passion and knowledge of Paris ❤️
Mary_G, Oct 2025
Our guide, Loik, was a true Parisian. He was born in Paris - as were his parents and grandparents. He was extremely knowledgeable of French history and presented it by telling intriguing stories. He also has a passion for and knowledge of wine! The pastries and chocolates on the tour were delicious! The tour was the perfect way to experience Montmartre - even if you have been here before.
Mary_M, Oct 2025
Montmartre is charming and steeped with history of artists. Loik Hommit made our day, with his vast knowledge of the history of Montmartre, Paris and all the artists that lived and worked there. We enjoyed famous patisseries, chocolate shops and the cobbled stone streets. The vibe is artistic, cozy, and Loik was full of Parisian charm. Definitely worth a tour while you're in the city!
Ken_M, Oct 2025
This walking tour is excellent if you want to learn about Montmartre and if you like chocolate and pastries!
Our tour guide: Loik knows where to take you, what history to tell you and amazes you with some of the hidden places there that tourists would never find!
Do not miss this tour!

Highly recommend this walking tour of Montmartre— Loïc made history come alive through fascinating storytelling and sweets. Loïc engaged with our ten year old historian through endless questions and gave a perspective on the history of Paris in a way you just can’t get from books. He also showcased the best chocolate we have ever had along with the kids favorite sweets from the trip.
From our 8 year old: “All of the stories were really interesting and everything was really fun. All of the pastries and sweets were amazing.”
Catherine_D, Sep 2025
A lovely experience eating very yummy food whilst learning all about Montmartre and the history of this wonderful city. Loik was kind and had a wealth of knowledge.
Denyse_L, Jul 2025
We are in our 80s. This was a strenuous steep uphill walk over cobblestones. Guide was very knowledgeable, but this walk was not appropriate for us and our level of activity. I regret we did not see more detail about the type of walk before we booked the tour.
Beth_J, Jul 2025
This is the best thing we did on our trip to Paris. Delicious treats and stories and a great guide in an absolutely beautiful part of the city. Highly recommend!
Paul_S, Jul 2025
Fantastic food tour. Emy was a great guide. Enjoyed cheese tasting, charcuterie tasting, beef beougenon, crepes, and creme puffs.
Judith_L, Jun 2025
This tour provides EXCELLENT information and history of tragedies of Montmarte! Our very knowledgeable and engaging guide, Loik, walked us through areas of Montmarte giving historical accounts of the many artists and royalty that resided and made the arrondisement what it is today.
HIGHLY recommend this tour to all who are interested in learning about the neighborhood and enjoying fantastic chocolates and pastries!
Becky_D, Jun 2025
Loïk is a gem. His tour of Montmarte was one of my favorite things in Paris. Even the 10 year old in our group enjoyed it. Excellent stories and delivery. Gorgeous pastries (with alternatives for those with nut allergies). Mindful pace for walking up hill. Easy and knowledgeable conversationalist. Loved it all.
BRUCE_T, May 2025
Wow, what a great experience! The depth of knowledge of France’s history was very impressive! Relating these stories with pastries on an uphill venture added a unique flair! My wife and I were engulfed with genuine caring interest in our presenter’s interest in France’s history! Thank you!
Brian_P, May 2025
Great mix of history and amazing sweets! Guide was easy to understand in English, and the tour was at a leisurely pace, which was great since it is very hilly. Very knowledgeable.
