Forget our tour guide name, but he was very informative, engaging, energetic, and even helped book a dinner reservation while we waited in line. Not sure there’s a time benefit to booking a tour versus just purchasing tickets and waiting in line. But we did enjoy the extra commentary.

Unfortunately we are extremely let down with this experience. Our "meeting point" for the guided group Eiffel Tower experience on our voucher was at the "Carousel" that no longer exists next to the Eiffel tower. Nobody contacted us, emailed, or sent an updated voucher with new instructions of where to meet our guide. After going through a long security line to get into the Eiffel Tower area, Info desk told us the carousel no longer existed so I called the phone number on our voucher. No answer. I called back again and finally talked to someone who was really nice and told me "there's a new meeting place". She told me where to go but after fighting the crowd and the long lines, we were to exit back out and cross the highway back to the river stairs area. Unfortunately this was just not in our cards after the time spent dealing with everything. This was a $650 loss for us by choice in the end.

Hello Jessica, we are very sorry to read your comments. I do remember very well our conversations during your tour and I'm sorry that what you have written here is not exactly what happened. I hope I can clear things up here.
The carousel has indeed been taken down very recently due to the Olympics but the meeting point is in exactly the same place. The instructions on how to get there are the same, the horse statue is still there, we don't have a new meeing point. We updated all the information on our tours and even created a point on Google maps so it can be easily found by our guests.
There is a note on the voucher specifically alerting all guests to please do not go under the tower. It's too crowded and impossible for us to find you there, this is why I asked you to please go to the meeting point and gave you detailed instructions as to how to get there. I told you that if you were not there in 5 minutes I would call you back to help you. It's just across the road from the tower on the bridge.
I did call you back 9 times and left at least 2 messages, you should see all the missed calls on your phone! I knew you were nearby and wanted to help you arrive at the meeting point. The guide was there waiting, with the orange cap and badge as indicated. Each time the call went to voicemail, I can only assume that your phone was off. I stayed in contact with him and kept trying your phone in the hope I could reach you and you could catch him, even after the tour left.
You did eventually leave us a voicemail, we have a service that records and transcribes them. Here is what we received:
Hello, this is Jessica Txxxx, and I just wanted to let you know we won't be finding the guy to do the tour. It's my daughter's birthday, and we changed our mind, but thank you for providing me the information and I hope you have a wonderful day, bye-bye.
We were sorry that you decided not to follow the tour, but of course respect your choice so I did not call you again after that.
Please rest assured that the meeting point is the same as it always was, the carrousel is gone but everything else remains the same. Our guides are always there and we are are always here on the phones to help.
We hope that you had a great stay in Paris nonetheless and that your daughter had a wonderful birthday here.

Great guide although the meeting place instructions were not up-to-date which made for confusion. Customer service also was not aware that the meeting place landmark had been removed.

I don’t remember the guides name but I think it was Renea, anyway we met up across the street and proceeded to the tower with a small group, the guide was very good at explaining about the history behind the tower and answered all of our questions, the ride to the summit was breathtaking.

Due to ongoing protest in Paris, my tour got cancelled at the last minute. I have following issues with Viator regarding this-
[1]The instructions from Viator are not very clear. They simple provide address to meet the guide. That is not good enough. Unless a person knows French, it is very hard to get any help from the public. Tips like meet near a particular shop, sign the guide will carry, or the photo of meeting location etc., can make a big difference.
[2] The guide did not have any courtesy to meet me in person. She simply called me to inform that tour has been cancelled and amount is going to be refunded. But I spent money on Uber cab service to come early, had lunch nearby though it was not my choice, all this to meet guide 15-30 minutes before.
[3] When guide did not show up, thinking that may be, I am at wrong location, I asked others and ran back and forth between attraction entrance vs Viator GPS location but guide never showed up. Since I don't know French, it was hard to communicate and getting help was not at all easy.
Refund is not everything. Customer service and courtesy goes a long way which I didn't get.

We are very sorry that we had to cancel our tour due to the strikes. I'd like to address your concerns here and hope this information is a help:
1. We do our best to provide clear instructions for all our meeting points. There is a map, an address in case you come by taxi and detailed instructions how to get there and what to look for. The voucher states that our guide will be wearing an orange badge on an orange lanyard, and details where they will be waiting. We do call all guests who do not arrive on time to see if they need help.
2. The strikes often happen with no warning. We were told by the staff at the tower about 1 hour before the tour start time that the tower would be closed and our tour could not go ahead. We called you immediately, and did the same with our other guests, making sure everyone was informed. I think it would be very discourteous of us us to ask the guide to cross the city for a tour that is cancelled, when we have spoken to all the guests and we know that nobody will be there. It's very nice that you decided to have lunch nearby, but this was your choice (and a great choice!). Guests don't need to come that early and have lunch by the tower in order to be on time for their tour. There are metro and train stations nearby that run every few minutes, taxi services can drop you right at the meeting point.
We are sorry we could not call you earlier, but we called as soon as we were informed. These strikes are very disruptive and inconvenient for everyone and we are doing our very best to mitigate that.
3. The guide was not there as we had informed all guests that the tour was cancelled. We processed a full refund for everyone immediately. Again we are very sorry that your tour was cancelled, and we realise that a refund only goes some way towards compensating for the disappointment, but we do all we can to inform our guests as fast as possible and minimise any inconvenience to you. The guide would not have been able to do anything more, the tower was closed.
We hope that this explains the situation a little better. Once again we are sorry that you were impacted by the strikes. We hope that nevertheless you had a great stay in Paris.
