I now have much more of an understanding and heart for Palermo. This tour was very interesting and moved along well. The complementary freshly made cannolis near the end was special treat! We came from the port and were taken advantage of by the “taxi”. Be careful!

Great Tour To Start Our Palermo Visit

KAAN_C, Feb 2026
Great tour to learn about the history, architecture, food scenes and life in Palermo. It was a rainy and cold day but we enjoyed a lot. Our guide Valeria was fantastic. We would recommend this tour as a "starter" of a Palermo visit...

Highly recommend this walking tour!

LouiseHoward, Feb 2026
A great tour with the local guide Valeria. We had a group of 9 and it was a deep historical perspective of how Palermo came to be today. Valeria spoke brilliant English and was helpful and attentive throughout the tour. There was a coffee stop and a lovely treat at the end. This made the following 4 days in Palermo really lovely as we knew the city and great places to eat. Highly recommend this tour when visiting Palermo.

A Sicilian walking adventure!

Monica_H, Jan 2026
Peter was our tour guide, and he really knew the city. It was a 3-hour adventure. Peter explained that there was very little government support for the southern part of Italy. People had to pay to go to school, and there was not much of a police presence, so crime rates were high. The mafia bought all of the politicians, and there was much corruption in government. As we walked through the narrow streets, cars and motorcycles would drive through the crowds, even though they were supposed to be pedestrian areas. The temperature climbed as we made our way through the busy streets. The markets were so interesting with every type of street food you could imagine. Prices were very cheap. We wished that we could spend some time shopping, but our guide kept everyone moving. This would be a good tour to orient yourself to the city, and I wish we could have spent some time shopping. However, by the end of the tour, we were too exhausted to even consider it. Our city tour continued with a visit to Quattro Canti (Four Corners) with its beautiful baroque artwork. It is the center of the city. We then went to the Palermo Cathedral and had cannolis with our group. The cathedral was stunning inside and out, and Peter explained the significant areas. It makes such a difference when you have a guide. We ended at the palace, and I found us a taxi back to the ship (just as Peter was explaining how bad the taxis and public transportation is in Sicily).

Very good tour

The guide, Roberta I believe was her name, was very informative and covered important sites of Palermo.

The Sicilian Story

Albert_G, Dec 2025
Great stories about Sicily, the neighborhoods, its history a true melting pot of various cultures. The mafia stories were intesting

A fantastic introduction to Palermo

Amanda_W, Nov 2025
On my first day in this beautiful city, I had the privilege of being the only person on the tour and my time with Laura was fabulous! She knows everything about this city and is incredibly kind and fun. I'd recommend this experience to anyone who wants an overview of the history and beauty of Palermo.

UNESCO walking tour Palermo

Leslie_B, Oct 2025
Great overview of historic portions of Palermo. Was disappointed that we were not able to go into more of the structures specifically the Palatine chapel to see the mosaics. Renate was an excellent tour guide and was able to answer all our questions.

Not good

Andrea_K, Oct 2025
I had such high expectations, but it wasn’t a good tour. The guide wasn’t really into it, made some weird jokes, didn’t follow the actual historical timeline but jumped from past to present to past. Talked in circles and repeated the same information multiple times. We finished earlier, which is crazy - in such monumental, significant and complex city as Palermo, she couldn’t find material to fill 3 full hours. It was just all over the place. The worst walking tour I have ever done.

Response from Host, Nov 2025

Dear Andrea, The guide on the October 24 tour has always been highly professional and has received excellent reviews. It’s possible the guest had particularly high expectations. Due to a last-minute change in the final admission time at the Royal Palace—communicated the night before while the guide was on a combo tour—the tour had to end about ten minutes early. The group was informed of this exceptional situation. Kind regards, Towns of Italy Customer Care

This was an excellent introduction to Palermo. The architecture and the history lessons were appreciated. The walk was a quick pace, and that is important for slow walkers. But there were many rest stops. The group size was optimal.

Amazing tour! We leaned so much the second day after we arrived in Palermo which also helped us explore the city based on our guide’s recommendations. She was extremely knowledgeable and her stories and descriptions made our learning fun and informative!

Definitely worth the time and money!

Sandra_E, Oct 2025
This was the best walking tour I’ve ever taken. First of all the amplification system meant you heard every word. Fabio was a terrific guide, very knowledgeable about Palermo and the city’s history and able to communicate that information in a clear, informal and entertaining way. We took the tour on our first morning in the city and it helped us get oriented and gave us ideas of where to go/eat and what to do. Highly recommended!

Great Tour

Susan_H, Sep 2025
Palermo is a busy place. Restrooms are difficult to find. Diversity of the city was a surprise to us.

A Vibrant Introduction to the Charm of Palermo

Marija_S, Sep 2025
Simone was an amazing guide who really brought Palermo to life! He has a vibrant way of sharing the city’s spirit, history, and culture, and he also gave us fantastic tips on where to try traditional food. Everything I tasted was delicious. I enjoyed the tour so much that I went back to some of the places on my own to explore them further. Highly recommended!

Cover a lot of territory without taking the whole day!

Giada (Jade) was a knowledgeable, friendly guide and she was patient with all of our questions. It was a very warm in Palermo on the day of our excursion but she was very careful to keep us in the shade whenever possible. She gave great recommendations for restaurants and pastries as well! (Be sure to enjoy a cannolo or a lemon granita in the courtyard at La Dolceria di Santa Caterina!)

Covers main sites in the historic centre. Lovely canoli and alternative of a granite. Friendly guide. Good to have headsets. On occasion too much information to absorb, but interesting nevertheless

Great introduction and great guide - Fabio

Barbara_H, Aug 2025
I had just arrived in Palermo and I wanted to get an initial overall look at the city right away so I picked this tour ... it was amazing and Fabio is brilliant. Informative, great with English and most importantly we had actual conversations about life and history here in Palermo ( not just your average here's this and here's that !)
