This worked out great for us. They picked us up at the cruise ship port (where we were) and dropped us at the gate area of Pompeii. We had plenty of time for our guided tour and lunch after, and were delivered back to the cruise ship port. Very nice transportation.

What To Expect

Go to the designated meeting spot in Naples and hop on the coach. Settle in for the easy 40-minute ride to the archeological site of Pompeii and enjoy the views out your window.

After arriving in Pompeii, learn where the return meeting point is for later that day and then get ready to explore this UNESCO-listed site, one of the best preserved sites from Ancient Rome.

Depending on you interests and desires, take up to seven hours to traverse the archeological areas, enjoying the old theaters and houses, observing the preserved murals on the walls and even seeing an ancient brothel. And then about 15 minutes before the appointed time, wait at the prearranged meeting point for the shuttle. On board the coach again, relax after having just taken in an incredible historical site.

Best way to get to Pompeii from Naples! Our van driver to Pompeii was soooo nice! My daughter started getting nauseated, and he stopped the van & almost carried her across the street to a restroom. He was a very large man & my daughter is a very small woman, so she felt very well taken care of, especially crossing busy streets in Naples! We were in a larger vehicle going back. We got a little turned around, and we weren't in the right pickup spot, but the driver & hostess were able to find us bc the 1st driver had taken our pictures, and they communicated with me via text. Only slight negative was that I wish there had been a closer pickup point from our apartment. All in all, it was a very economical & efficient way to navigate the trip!

Comfortable and cost effective transportation

The shared shuttle was the perfect way to get to Pompeii from our ship. We were met at the terminal by a very nice gentleman and shared the van with another couple. One note, don't rely on Google Maps to know where you are! We were very confused by the directions that wanted us to leave the port, but saw our names so we got where we needed to be. Return pick-up right on time, however we didn't go directly back to port. We had a larger bus that stopped at hotels on way back. Note, go to the bathroom before leaving the archeological site and returning. It was a longer ride back, but very comfortable.

You will get to/from Pompei way ahead on time since the drivers on both start and end if the trip drove so fast! I looked at the odometer and saw 145 miles/hour…that’s 90 miles an hour! Whew! Otherwise, reliable and economical!

This was just a pickup and drop from Naples to Pompeii. We were contacted over WhatsApp and reconfirmed the time and place of pickup. The driver dropped us at the Pompeii gates, giving us clear instructions on how to get in. He was back right on time for the return. We were supposed to be dropped back at the hotel where we started. But we had told him to drop us somewhere near the Museum. He took the trouble of taking us to the Museum since he didn’t want us to walk in the rain. Excellent service well above expectations

We booked a driver to take the stress off the commute to Pompeii where we were meeting our tour guide. They gave several options for pick up. The description appeared that there our multiple return times, but that was not true. We landed up messaging the company that we were going to take the train back. Driver was safe and got us there way earlier than we thought we'd be which is a bonus. Only thing was that another group didn't show up so we had to wait longer than the pick up time before we could leave. Not really their fault.

Lovely driver to Pompeii! Was a little confusing , the shuttle bus ride back, as a different driver and stuff, however great value for money . And we were out of city centre near Airport, and really appreciated the pickup and drop off, to our Airbnb. Over all would definitely recommend this service!!!

We got picked and dropped off without difficulty. The driver said to meet at a certain spot at a specific time but may be a different driver. Went to the spot and the driver was there but then told not the driver as he was going to a different spot. We were then led to a spot with lots of people and told to wait for our names to be called. Wasn’t a terribly long wait but somewhat confusing.

All Is Well That Ends Well

This service did deliver the expected transportation from our cruise ship to the Pompeii exploration site for a reasonable price. Communication was quite frustrating in the days leading to the service as on the service day. The Viator site listed a pickup at the cruise port at 8 AM. We reached out to confirm this time, noting to the operator that our ship was not scheduled for guest arrival until that time and we would need time for guest to be allowed by authorities to leave the ship and time for us to make our way off the ship, through the cruise port and out of the port's security gate. The provider responded within one day, stating they showed the ship's arrival to be 6 AM. We responded promptly with two sets of documentation from the cruise line showing the 8AM arrival and asking for the provider to review and confirm their information. That email never received a reply from the provider, just like the subsequent ones sent daily for the next 4 days. On the service date, as WE expected, passengers were not cleared by authorities to disembark until 8:10 AM. Both ourselves and another couple also on the same package were amongst the first 12 guests off... making our way to the gate in about 5 minutes. The driver was exactly where we were told to find him, with signage to make identification easy, and transportation from the ship to Pompaii in a Mercedes van was uneventful. Unknown at the time to us, the operator sent a message to us at 8:06 stating the driver is "calling for your name" and asking we "Please try to reach him ASAP" as well as a pair of messages at 8:18 of "Where are you?" and that "It's getting late". Reading and responding to our MULTIPLE emails over a several day period of time regarding their expected pickup time of us and the ship's scheduled arrival time could have save both of us from unnecessary anxiety. The return trip from Pompaii to the cruise port was well organized with a representative verifying the full busload of returning passengers (most headed to hotels and the rest of us returning to the port) were present. The listing indicates "Pickup and drop-off from your chosen departure point" and "This activity ends back at the meeting point" however we were dropped off on the opposite side of a busy roadway (multiple lanes of traffic) from the cruise port rather than the pick-up's location right outside the gate. Better communication from the provider and a bit of clarification in the listing (if this is how all return trips end) would greatly improve THIS customer's satisfaction. As noted in the description... "All is well that ends well".

We were anxious because we had to look and look for your van and driver and then had to wait for other late passengers. It would be so much better if you told us a particular landmark where the driver would be. Our driver was great even though it was difficult to communicate with him. Loved that he was on time!!!

We booked transportation from the Naples Port for 8AM to Pompeii ruins. Picked us up fine. However, on our return pickup time, as in our booking, for 1:15PM, they didn't pickup until 1:50PM.

WOW. We were so impressed with this transportation service! Drivers were courteous and on time, drove skillfully and safely, and provided excellent communication. Our ride to Pompeii from Naples was just my friend and I and the driver in a Mercedes sedan. Our ride back to Naples was a small shuttle bus that held ten other passengers and us, had comfortable seating and excellent a/c. Highly recommend!

The Viator drivers are in desperate need of a clock

The Viator drivers were late picking us up at the ship and were 35(!) minutes late picking us up at Pompeii to return us to the ship. My wife and I wasted a good 45 minutes of our expensive vacation waiting for their drivers. To Viator: Please let me know your plan to compensate us for the time you stole from our vacation.

They were prompt to pick us up but kept us waiting 1.15 mins to take us back . We tried to contact them for an earlier pick up and tried to tell us that we were booked later and it was our fault . I had a paper copy of the booking so that stopped them for blaming us but no apology.

The shuttle was listed as leaving the port at 8:00 and returning at 1:15. We were told to meet the driver at 7:50, but we then waited for one small group until 8:15. When we arrived at Pompeii, the driver said the time to meet at the van to return was 1:50, which would have arrived at the port over an hour after the listed time. We were on a tight schedule and this delay was unacceptable, so we were forced to find alternate transport at a cost of 200€. We requested a partial refund since what was promised for the return was not delivered, but the company refused. We are most unhappy.
