Itinerary
Start your private tour with pickup from your Mumbai hotel, or alternatively, from the cruise port or railway station.
Delve into the streets in a private, air-conditioned car with your guide, and hear about Mumbai’s history, including its time under British rule from the 18th to the 20th century, and how it is India’s second largest city, with a population of about 18.4 million.
Stop first at the vast Dharavi Slum, Asia’s biggest, and home to nearly a million people. Take a walk through this town-within-a-town, crammed with thousands of makeshift huts. Learn about daily life here, and pass tiny bread and sweet shops, interspersed with dimly-lit manufacturing units hosting small-scale clothes-, pottery-, and soap-making businesses.
Absorb the strong sense of community, and visit the plastic and metal recycling yard, where workers sort materials for re-use, before delving into Kumbharwada, the community of clay potters dubbed the ‘city of lamps.’ Explore the lanes here, weaving through thousands of hand-made, kiln-fired pots being crafted as oil lamps for festivals.
Having explored Dharavi, take a tour of the colonial and modern faces of Mumbai. Admire the Gateway of India, built to commemorate a 1911 visit by King George V, and see the imposing Taj Mahal Palace hotel, opened in 1903.
Hear historical tales and anecdotes en route, and stop at landmarks including the UNESCO-listed Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus train station, Mumbai University with its Big Ben-style Rajabai Clock Tower, and the Oval Cricket Ground and Bombay High Court.
See Mumbai’s dhobi ghat — Asia’s biggest open-air laundry — together with Mahatma Gandhi's former residence, and the Hanging Gardens on top of water tanks. Plus, drive past the colonial buildings on Marine Drive, seeing the Prince of Wales Museum, Flora Fountain, the Telegraph Office, and more.
Your tour then ends back at the departure point.

Thank you so much for your wonderful feedback! We’re thrilled to hear you had such a fantastic day with Muckesh. He truly has a gift for sharing knowledge in a clear and engaging way, so it’s great to know his storytelling and pace made the experience both informative and comfortable.
We’re especially happy that your visit felt welcoming and personal. Meeting local families and seeing daily life alongside the commercial industries is such an important part of understanding the community beyond common perceptions. It means a lot that you found it eye-opening and positive.
Your kind words and recommendation really encourage our whole team. We’ll be sure to pass your appreciation on to Mukesh — he’ll be delighted!
Thank you again for choosing to explore with us, and we hope to see you back in Mumbai someday.

It shows all the main attractions of Mumbai . Aarti was a great guide and we had an excellant driver for the streets of Mumbai! Due to a nearby fire and fire engines - it was busy!! Walking tour of dvari slum showed us how so much is manufactured there

Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re delighted that you enjoyed seeing all the main attractions of Mumbai. Aarti was thrilled to guide you, and we’re glad our driver helped you navigate the busy streets!
We’re also happy to hear that the Dharavi walking tour gave you insight into the incredible amount of craftsmanship and manufacturing that happens there.
Thank you again for taking the time to share your experience!

This was an eye opener of a tour. The Dharavi slums might not sound an exciting destination, but just to see the industrious nature of the whole area where they work and live in close quarters and are entirely self sufficient is amazing. We spent a few hours walking up and down the lanes in the industrial section, in and out of tiny dark lanes in the residential section and not once were we hassled by beggars, such is the vibe in these slums.
Our guide Dev could not possibly have been any more knowledgeable about the area and his passion for the people and the way they live shone thru.
All the other major 'tourist' places were visited and I recommend doing the private tour just as a couple or single family, giving you more freedom on what to see and how long to stay at a particular place, a luxury you cannot afford to have if travelling with others in your group.
5* plus !!

From the beginning the tour was excellent. Jaya is a friendly, warm host that made sure to point out any point of interest in Mumbai. She took me through several great places including the Gateway and the Gandhi museum as well as an up close look up the slums. I even got an amazing view of the train station at night since she saved that for last. Definitely highly recommend. P.S. I got to pet several dogs since the dogs love her!

Our guide, Raj and chauffeur, Manoj were perfectly on time (early actually!) and were both extremely informative, knowledgeable, funny and adaptable as we went “off script” a bit as we had visited a few of the listed locations the day before! We asked for additional time at the Ghandi museum and that was perfectly fine with them. I will never forget the slums, laundry and Taj hotel either! What a great time was had! We would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who really wants an insightful and fun time in Mumbai! Rod & Colleen Dyke (Seattle, Washington USA)

The tour service was great. The driver in a private car picked me up at the hotel. The guide should have been there too, but because of heavy rains we had to pick him up elsewhere. Once we picked him up, the tour commenced and even though it was understandably a later start the team made sure they covered all points of interest , including the Slum part of the tour. We covered the modern Mumbai and then sent to Slum. Despite the heavy rains, the team made me fill comfortable with big umbrellas ready.
The slum part of the tour was a real eye-opener. Anthony took me into various parts of the slum and explained what’s going on over there.
All in all, great experience and the team made the best of it, given the weather.

This tour was excellent. We first walked around the slum part of Mumbai for over 2 hours. Very eye opening. We then did a full city tour. Our guide was excellent, spoke perfect English and despite bad traffic conditions managed to get us to all the highlights!!!
