Great Female Guide

Sonal_P, Apr 2026
Sneha our guide was very knowledgeable and provided us with a great in sight on our tour. We really enjoyed the tour and would recommend Sneha to anyone .

Eye opening.

Jerilynn_D, Mar 2026
Very eye opening experience. We were there in early March and it was extremely hot (37C). Be prepared for the heat and the smells. So interesting to see this community in action.

Tour with Varsha

Haobo_H, Mar 2026
Varsha gave us an excellent tour today. We explored the industrial, commercial, and residential districts, gaining a comprehensive perspective of the city. She is a true professional, highly recommended.

Varsha showes you her world

Merel_T, Feb 2026
Varsha was a great guide who lives in the Area Everyone knew her and she knew an answer to all my -probably stupid- questions. Dharavi really made an impression I will not forget. Go with Varsha!

No show guide

Diana_S, Feb 2026
Our guide never showed up. There was no communication from the guide, and we never did the tour. We expected better service. We left chat messages with Viator customer service, no response.

A great tour worth visiting

Parisha_M, Feb 2026
The tour guide was very good and explained things well. It opened my eyes to what the slum was all about.

Friendly and informative

sylvia_w, Nov 2025
Extremely informative, though with possibly too much detail, as it was delivered so fast; at that speed, it's very hard to absorb it all. There's a cultural difference there: Indians speak very fast, with few pauses. Very different to most native English speakers, and l imagine it would be hard for foreigners who don't have a great grasp of English.

If you only do one tour in India do this

sue_p, Nov 2025
A meaningful insight into the real world of so many people in India. Hard work and determination to live with dignity. Pooja was a fantastic guide and very helpful sorting a taxi and practical advice

great down-to-earth tour without over-dramatization

Shalini_D, Nov 2025
Tour guide varsha was friendly and informative. I was dreading that it would end up being an over-dramatised, cliched tour or that it would be too voyeuristic. But it was great. A calm and interesting tour into the slums. I was surprised by the number and variety of small industries being run there and also impressed by the neatness and livability of the small homes and the calm friendliness of the people there. The alley ways were complicated and every inch was used. I loved it.

Slum tour with Sneha, a must do!

Donna_W, Oct 2025

Anu was an excellent guide - very informative - great experience with her. She answered all of the questions of our group of two and the other three members of our group

Interesting Sub-Culture

David_W, Sep 2025
About two hours to see several thriving businesses in the slum. It is hard to hear sometimes due to the noise from the factories.

We enjoyed the tour

Dharavi Slum Tour

We had the best experience and this will become a core memory forever. Puja, our guide was incredible , smart and extremely kind. She showed everything. The kids all knew her. She also helped us handout 250 books to the kids throughout the slum. This was a highlight !

Response from Host, Jun 2025

Thank you so much for your heartfelt review! We're thrilled to hear that your experience was so memorable and meaningful. Puja truly is an incredible guide, and we're glad her warmth and connection with the community made such an impact. Distributing 250 books with your help was a beautiful moment—we’re so grateful you could be a part of it. This kind of interaction makes the tour even more special. Thank you for being part of something so positive!

Eye Opening Experience

Blanche_F, Mar 2025
Our guide, Ms. Pooja, was delightful. As a lifelong resident of Dharavi, she was well versed in the community and its life and provided valuable context and insight throughout the two hour tour. We were glad that hotel pick up/return was available, but be advised it takes about one hour each way due to traffic to reach Dharavi from South Mumbai.

Ripoff by Viator on Tour with a No-show guide

John_W, Mar 2025
Tour guide was a no-show despite having a "confirmation" and bar code ticket issued by Viator. While Viator readily issued refund for tour, I spent almost as much money as well as 1.5 hours taking Uber transport to a tour that did not exist on that day. Viator points to their terms of use saying that they are not responsible as all they do is supply a platform - however they were the ones who collected money from me and fraudulently sold me a service that did not exist. Hiding behind their terms.

Dhravi tour

My favourite tour of Mumbai, so eye opening to see the hustle and bustle of life in the slum. An experience you wouldn’t be able to do on your own and our guide Sneha gave an incredible insight into everything we saw

Best and very knowledgeable tour guide Anushka

May_B, Jan 2025
Our tour guide Anushka was amazing. She even provided me a cover dress during the tour. She is lovely.

Pooja was amazing and it’s a mental paradigm shift

Irina_C, Jan 2025
STRONG RECOMMEND. It is AMAZING. I come from a developed nation so it was shocking in a way I don’t think I fully processed yet. The abject poverty was visible and yet invisible, a calm and content acceptance instead of a defeat. Our tour guide, Pooja was really enlightening. She explained lots of facts regarding the slum, but more importantly about the mindset. Sure, it’s wild to see the business areas and what they do, the lack of proper working conditions and how much they work (they even pay a monthly fee to be given meals 3 times a day because they work so much). Sure, the lightless narrow passages in midday sun are jarring both for their claustrophobic nature and the feeling of being trapped in life if one lived in the slum. But the most enlightening information how she challenged us to rethink what a slum is. People living there see themselves as happy. They have what they need, and are satisfied. The community is very close and their needs are provided for through the work they do and the help of their neighbors. They may not have savings, or many savings, but they have electricity, they have 3 hours of water, they have food and shelter. They have schools in the slum, hospitals, shops, a whole life there. They even have streets running through it so it’s not one monolith. It’s what they know, and what they’re comfortable with. It really challenges the capitalistic idea of more more more, because when is it enough and when are you content? Anyway, Pooja was amazing, the tour was very visual and informative, and I would strongly recommend it. 20% of the price goes towards the slum as well, providing free homes for orphans and other necessities, besides the fact that you support women by booking this tour instead of other slum tours.

Knowledge guide

Jyoti, Dec 2024
Aryan is an excellent guide. I really tested his knowledge by asking a lot of questions and he was able to answer all of them. I highly recommend.

Must do tour

Bhawani_S, Dec 2024
Varsha was a great guide on my first tour of Dharavi. Varsha knew the places and stories behind them. She kept the group together. Highly recommended.
