Great evening out! Our guide showed us an array of animals including: a scorpion, tarantula, sloth, 5 toucans, insects, baby humming birds and more! We also got a great view of the stars even though it was cloudy. The guides are all so enthusiastic and they want you to have the best experience. I'd definitely recommend this for an evening in Costa Rica.

Guide was friendly, initially we wanted to move to the day after because of the rain and he accommodated us. However, rain stopped and we went with the tour. Our family of 5 was able to get private tour. Not able to see many but got some birds, insects and frogs. Good experience.

Animal viewing was amazing! Would recommend this tour just from that standpoint. However there were two ways to do the path. One that was along and creek and then back the same way. And the second was up a very steep path just to see a second tarantula and then down an uneven rocky road that vehicles use. Our tour guide Himer didn’t bother asking us our preference or even if we had any physical limitations. He just headed right up the path. All four of us look pretty fit and healthy so I’m sure he just assumed it was fine. But it is 100% unprofessional to not at least ask the group if everyone is ok with that level of exertion and stress on the joints. So if you do have physical limitations make sure you let your guide know up front that you want to stay on the lower more level path.

Our guide, Daniel, shared his knowledge generously and really tried hard to find as much wildlife as possible for us.

Saw a bunch of cool animals, got amazing pictures, guide was very funny, Daniel. Fun for family, kids too.

Good tour but highly depends on the night and your luck for how many creatures you will be able to see. Our Guide was amazing

Amazing evening experience! We saw so many unique animals. The guides were great at working together to point things out! Guide allowed us to take pictures through the telescope to capture incredible images of the animals. Easy walking trail.

Manuel tried to speak English but was difficult to understand. He spoke quickly, softly and often faced away from the group (talking while walking) making hearing even more difficult.. I asked him on multiple occasions to repeat what he said but I grew tired of asking and he seemed frustrated.
There’s no doubt he enjoys nature. He showed us beautiful photos and videos that he took on his phone and he knew where to find a variety of animals on our hike.
Manuel kindly took photos with my phone using his telescope. I just wish I could understand what he was saying about them.

Hello! Thank you so much for your feedback. Your comments, both positive and negative, are very important to our project and help us continue to grow. We're very sorry that you didn't understand the information provided by the guide this time. We do our best to speak in your language to offer you a better experience.
We're so glad to hear that you had the opportunity to see a wide variety of animals, as you mentioned. Have a great day and pura vida! 👋

Very Knowledgeable tour guide, fun experience, exciting adventure, learning is in the menu, a must to do!

We saw a sleeping brightly coloured Toucan, Also female tarantulas in holes, a camouflaged mossy insect. A great experience.

This night tour was our favorite part of our trip to Costa Rica. We had an excellent, funny, patient, and knowledgeable tour guide Dani. He took us through the reserve at night and could spot incredible animals with ease. It was even more fun because we were all involved "hunting" for the animals at night with our flashlights (which he provided). We saw everything I could have hoped for and it was an absolute blast. I could not recommend this more.

Loved this! Monteverde is such a great town and this excursion was close by at a finca. The tour was two hours and my family loved it. We saw very interesting bugs like leaf bugs, walking stick, tarantulas, scorpions and also bigger animals like toucans and sloths! Thank you to Michael for a great time.

A wonderful experience. Our guide Kevin was knowledgeable, passionate, and considerate. He did a great job finding a wide variety of creatures both expected and unexpected while making sure everyone in the group got a chance to see everything and was having a good time.

We really enjoyed it. Our guide was super excited to find animals for us which we appreciated so much!! We saw spiders, small frog (how he found I have no idea!), various toucan, scorpion with babies on its back, “Martha” the tarantula, monkey, an animal similar to an opossum, two types of birds and near the end we quickly saw an Amarillo. Great tour- very fun to be in the forest at night! Great tour!

This was our second night tour (we did our first in La Fortuna), and this one absolutely took the cake. The wildlife sightings were incredible—we saw a sloth, howler monkey, snake, scorpion, glass frog, several other frogs, and even toucans.
The hike itself was enjoyable and well-paced, and the price was very reasonable for everything we experienced. Our guide, Kevin, was fantastic—knowledgeable, engaging, and clearly passionate about what he does, which made the whole experience even better.
If you’re considering a night tour, definitely go with this one. Highly recommend!

Dani was an amazing guide! We were in a small group of 6 people (compared to some other groups that were 10 or so) which made for a more special experience. We found lots of wildlife including a scorpion, tarantula, stick bugs, sleeping toucans, and even a porcupine! We had so much fun on this tour, highly recommend!

Dani was an incredible guide. He brought such great energy and expertise, and helped us spot an agoutis, a pit viper, a tarantula, a half-dozen toucans, and more!

I was initially skeptical in booking a night walk however this was truly an amazing experience in Monteverde. Our guide Daniel was incredibly knowledgeable and spotted several animals himself. He came prepared with flashlights and a high tech scope. We were able to spot sloths, monkeys, a viper, hummingbirds, toucans, a tarantula, and several insects. I highly recommend booking this experience in Monteverde and I would also recommend Daniel as a tour guide. What a truly wonderful experience! Thank you Daniel.

It was such a fun experience to see the wildlife of Monteverde at night. During our tour, we saw sleeping toucans, lizards, frogs, nesting hummingbirds, scorpions, tarantulas, leaf bugs, stick bugs, and a pit viper. Our guide was knowledgeable and fun. We would recommend this tour to others!
Ben_S, Feb 2026
I really enjoyed this night tour. There was only three in our group, so that made it better.
Danny was very enthusiastic, especially when we saw the family of wild pigs.

Great experience. Saw lots of wildlife (armadillo, toucans, tarantulas, glass frogs, stick bugs among many other insects). Marco was an excellent, fun, knowledgeable guide.

The tour itself was well organised, and Dani our guide, was excellent, friendly, knowledgeable, and generous with insights about the forest and its inhabitants. Most impressive was his sharp eye, we saw a toucan, butterflies, bats, frogs, tarantulas and more was spotted that we would never have found on our own.
Unfortunately, the experience was somewhat dampened by being grouped with a particularly disruptive parent and child. The child repeatedly jumped at the monocular (requiring constant readjustment and spooking wildlife for others), shone a torch in people’s faces, and generally disrupted the group, while the parent made little effort to intervene. Credit to Dani, whose patience and professionalism were seriously tested throughout.
It’s a shame, as we fully appreciate that not all children behave this way or are allowed to. For future visitors, it might be worth the operator considering grouping families together, or at least offering adult-only groups the option to opt out of mixed tours. After all, everyone is there hoping for the same thing, a calm, memorable wildlife experience.

Our guide, Dani, was very enthusiastic and informative. He was able to teach us quite a bit about the location while also pointing out many animals along the path. The trail we took was easy to navigate and not taxing, especially with several stops to view animals. Since we were in a small group, the guide was able to let us watch certain animals as long as we wanted without rushing us to the end of the hike.

We had a fantastic time with Dani. He was engaging, funny, enthusiastic and knowledgeable. We saw so many amazing creatures, but of course this varies from night to night.
Great night tour and definitely highly recommended.

Dani did a great job picking us and dropping us off at our hotel for the tour. The guide, Stephen, did a great job pointing out the wildlife. Saw a bat eating a fig, an armadillo, toucan, hummingbird, and a tarantula!

Daniel was awesome we needed transportation he himself came and picked us at the hotel and dropped off . Tour was amazing
Shaley_V, Nov 2025
Dani was exceptional as a guide. We saw so many animals, he took care to get to know us and our interests in what we wanted to see, took pictures, ensured we had good views in the spotting scope, and even offered to pick us up and drop us off from our lodging. Went above and beyond to make the tour great. On top of that, the night was beautiful and the animals were quite active, so we got to see a lot of different things.

Thanks very much for visit us!! Pura vida! Great people.

Marco met us and prepped us for the evening. He provided flashlights and tips for seeing receiving the most out of the eventing. Using his high powered scope, he helped us see toucans in the trees, tiny frogs across the stream, etc. Marco was patient and worked with us to obtain the best photos, even getting close to a huge spider to take the picture for us. Excellent guide.

Possibly the highlight of our Costa Rica experience so far. Marco's knowledge of and enthusiasm for the nightlife of the jungle was unbounded. We saw mother and baby sloth, sleeping toucans (both Monteverde varieties and a baby), spiders large and small, stick insects, a tarantula, a glass frogs and countless other creatures. Even the creepy crawlie-phobic amongst us loved it. Can't thank Marco and the rest of the team enough and can't recommend this highly enough.
One word of warning - our viator booking hadn't come through to the team. They were charming and sorted it, but if booking on this platform you might be best advised to call Finca Lantana to confirm they have the booking.
