I had such a great tour with Shirley and Mike - I learned so much about Merida and its deep history. They explained everything in great detail, especially from the perspective of the Mayans, away from the colonial lens. I greatly appreciate educating us visitors about the hardships Yucatecans went through in the past, especially as someone who is also affected by the long history of Spanish colonialism.
There are many tours to choose from but THIS is the one to book! You’ll even get notes so you can go back to all info from the tour. They are super thorough and will go the extra mile to make sure you’re comfortable and enjoy. You’re guaranteed to have a great and enriching time at Merida’s historic centre. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

What an AMAZING experience! Mike and Shirley were extremely knowledgeable of the history of Merida and the Yucatán peninsula, bringing the modern day tourist excursion to a whole new level of understanding and appreciation! They brought out the stories with humor and honesty, playing off each other and our questions. They are enjoyable, insightful, and their experience is full of fantastic surprises!

The city walk with Shirley was one of my favorite experiences in Merida. I am incredibly glad that I booked the tour at the start of my trip, as it ended up being a great introduction to the city, landmarks, and parks that I might not have discovered on my own. As a solo travel, I really value the knowledge that a local can provide to make the most use of my time. Shirley was incredibly kind, funny, and knowledgeable and made me feel very comfortable. It was the perfect balance of fun and learning. And, I got to meet Mike (of Mike & Duck) who was a great addition to the tour. It was fun learning about his Mayan heritage and his life growing up in Merida. Added bonus at the end of the tour was the bag of local candies (yum!) and the shared photos (shout out to Mike for his photography skills!).
This is the perfect way to kick off a visit to Merida.

My Guide Mike is fantastic.He met me early in the morning. We had a delicious healthy breakfast and did walking tour.
The tour was done extremely well with very interesting details, and with a profound knowledge of the area and the history. Our guide Eduardo was very knowledgeable about his city. He explained both the Mayan and Spanish history in a clear and easy to understand manner. He also spoke the Mayan language and could translate the many signs in Mayan. I really liked this tour of the city.

This is such a great tour! I didn’t have a lot of time, and so I wanted a quick introduction to the city, and this was just perfect! I was able to see a number of the highlights, our tour guides were absolutely charming and responsive to the needs of the group, and there were lots of little special surprises along the way!
I know there are a lot of competing tours, but honestly, I would highly recommend this one!

A very interesting walk focusing on well-chosen highlights of downtown Merida. Guides were a lovely couple and knowledgeable about what we saw, as well as being able to answer many other questions. I learned a lot and now appreciate Merida history/culture more.

Walking with Eduardo (Mike) and Shirley was an awesome way to get acquainted with Centro. They were both so friendly and helpful. Eduardo was very knowledgeable of the history of the area, its buildings and parks. He also had both knowledge and good stories about the Mayan culture. He was clearly passionate about his subject matter and very proud of his city and his Mayan heritage. We were so glad that we had chosen the Mike and Duck Walking Tour as our intro-"Duck"-tion to Merida!

Eduardo was a great guide, having just arrived a few hours before the tour we had no idea what Merida was about. Within the 2 hours that we spent with Eduardo he was able to paint a picture of Merida by sharing stories, and some history about el centro. He was able to share a lot for being limited on some attractions being closed due to covid and he gave us a lot of recommendations! Thank you again! We loved Merida!
