Fernando was an excellent guide! He explained the dishes we ate, local history, and the intersection of both while navigating busting markets, all with humor and charm. We tasted many local specialties including sopa de lima, salbutes, panuchos, tortas, tacos cochinita, and tacos al pastor. We even sampled some chapulines from a street vendor! Laura was a wonderful guide and a wealth of information with our great group of 7 from the US and Canada. The food was fantastic and the juice and popsicle at the end were genius to end the tour. Loved it!

Great introduction to the Merida local marketplace, where food (and everything else you could imagine) is sold for a fraction of the cost you would pay in a restaurant. The food we tried in the market (cochinita pibil, carne asada, rellenos negros, , agua fresca, fruit popsicles, and many others I can’t remember the names of) was all delicious and inexpensive. Own our own, we would’ve stuck to restaurants and never experienced any of this, so many thanks to Laura!

Marco was very entertaining, a real pleasure and a terrific guide, with lots of knowledge about the area, the people and the food. Come hungry! The food we tasted was distinctive to this area and delicious. Everything was sanitized and there were no health concerns.

I’ve been on lots of food tours and this may be the best one. There were only 2 of us today so we were able to complete the tour faster than usual but without rushing. We were over stuffed about half way through the tour. Our guide kept reminding us that we didn’t have to eat/drink all of anything offered. We appreciated that but wasting food should be a sin so we shared a few dishes. Everything is so tasty at the marketplace. The fruits and veggies are bigger and fresher than any from the best USA markets, IMO Our guide offered to take up the extra time by showing is some craftwork but we declined. We were 2 happy foodies glad to be done before it got any hotter. We highly recommend this tour.

Marcus was a wonderful guide! He was friendly, knowledgeable, kind, and respectful to his tour group as well as to others he interacted with in the course of our tour. Marcus patiently answered all our questions and introduced us to Yucatan cooking methods, food favorites, and traditions that originated in Mayan culture. Warning: DO NOT eat before this tour, because each person will be eating and drinking enough food/drink to satisfy a hungry family of four!! And, it’s all delicious!!

This was our second time on the tour with Annette. The first time was in March 2025. This time we brought our daughters to Merida and the tour. Annette is awesome. Very knowledgeable, fun personable and always thinking of the tour participants. I highly recommend the tour and to request Annette.

Our guide, Annette, was so fun and bubbly. She was very knowledgeable and was able to answer all of our questions (even if they weren’t about food). She gave us great recommendations for our trip and the aguas frescas were so good we went back on our own to try more. Highly recommend if you want to get a local feel of Merida and try traditional dishes that taste way better than what you get at the restaurants nearby. Thank you Annette!

Great Intro to Yucatecan Cuisine

This was an excellent tour, given by a Mérida local. The pace was good, and the variety of food was representative of Yucatecan cuisine. We concluded our tour at an ice cream shop, which was refreshing in June. There were only two of us on this tour, and our guide was so attentive, making sure that we were comfortable and engaged. I've since traveled back to Mérida and tried some of the same cuisine, so this is a great foundational food tour for Mérida.

I was excited for the experience given the excellent reviews but ended up being a little disappointed. While the food was good, I just felt that I could’ve had the same experience if I explored myself and was pretty expensive for what it was (almost $70 USD). Many of the dishes we ate were under 50 pesos. However I understand not everyone is comfortable going into local markets/restaurants and ordering, so it might be more worth it for you in that case. I thought our tour guide was just okay. She was nice to talk to when I asked questions but I felt like she didnt add that much value and wasn’t that engaging. The best part of the tour was meeting other travelers which made it a fun experience. Personally, I’d recommend just doing online research and trying local food yourself for much cheaper.
