Worth it!
Fabulous. Tour guide, Elliott, was amazing, personable and very knowledgeable. Highly recommend. The Chaccohben site was worth the trip. The special treat was making tortillas and having lunch with the REAL women of Chacchoben in the small town nearby. My 87 yr old mother went and this was the highlight of the cruise for her.

Its not 5 star just because beach ... The beach was not good, sea was unclean and boats passed all the time with smell of diesel. Mayan ruins were fanrastic

Traveling with family
I was anxious about finding the tour operator and not knowing where to go. But after asking 5 different people we managed to find the guide. I wish they advised that you have to leave the main port area and find the local guides behind the gate.. would have been helpful to know. The vehicle was clean and the water a welcome refreshment. The guide was good, but I expected a bit more history and context. Overall an enjoyable experience

Just book it
Absolutely wonderful from start to finish! Great pre-cruise communication, clean air-conditioned transportation with snacks and drinks, and a wonderful tour guide “1 (Juan) Corona”. He is Incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. Couldn’t have asked for better. Money and vacation day well spent!

We had a great tour of the Chacchoben ruins with Juan Carlos! He was a great guide, and gave us lots of interesting information about the Mayans and the ruins on the drive there. The time in the van didn't seem long at all because of that. Instructions for getting to the location to take the tour were easy to follow and everyone we interacted with was helpful and friendly. We would highly recommend taking a tour with Tucan Tours!

Private tour to the ruins
We had a wonderful time on this excursion. We had Julio as our driver and Leo as our guide. They were both great, very fun to talk to, and had alot of great information about the area. They answered all our questions and joke around with us. If you get a chance asked for them as your guides!!!

Nothing short of awesome!
We arrived early and they accommodated by sending us early intead of waiting an hour for the next group. It was amazing and very courteous! Juan, our tour guide, was very awesome and knowledgeable of the surrounding areas. I'd completely recommend them to anyone.

Chacchoben Tour
Really interesting tour around the three temples once you get there, however, bear in mind that the temples have been rebuilt so may not be the ruins that are expected. Our tour took about 4 hours of which 2 and a half hours was travel time. The tour around the temples is quite pacey and I was hoping for a bit more time for a gentle meander and photo opportunities.
Our guide, Ismael, was very knowledgeable and helpful.

Go Hungry
The guides are very knowledgeable and proud of their heritage. The Mayan ruins are impressive and the cuisine was delicious. Highly recommend this tour for any family that wants, history, good food and something other than another beach.

When to visit

Since the ruins are mostly unexcavated, visitors should wear sneakers or hiking boots, not flip-flops.
Mosquitos may be abundant, especially during rainy season, so remember to bring insect repellent.
Keep your eyes open for deer, peccaries (piglike animals), armadillos, gray foxes, and spider and howler monkeys, which inhabit the surrounding jungle.
