Danny was a wonderful tour guide. We are a family of four and we all loved spending the day with him. His English is amazing and he beautifully explained medellin’s complicated history. He emailed immediately upon making the reservation and promptly picked us up at 9am. He shared his own experiences from his childhood as well as the current situation in Medellín. It was fun exploring Comuna 13, the graffiti, dancing and music was exciting. Danny also helped us make tickets for the Independente Futbol game which was so helpful.

Danny was generous with his time. He was very engaging and his English is excellent. Danny did not share history with depth. Very disappointed with the lack of detail. Wanted to sit, have coffee, but we left with little knowledge and understanding of this rich history.

Hello Mrs. Jill, thanks for your message, we are sorry the tour didn't meet your expectations. You state that we lacked some detail and history, let us say that we covered the history from the very beginning: the settlement process, the civil conflict of the guerrillas and paramilitaries, the process by which the neighborhood changed urban and socially, from the military takeovers to the arrival of public policies, transportation system and the graffiti as a means of expression, what exactly did we miss?, this is a tour stipulated for 3.5 to 4 hours, we took over 5 hours with you, you should have booked a full-day tour then.
Let’s recap:
1. You showed up 20 minutes late because you were changing clothes, it is fine, we have been late too.
2. We sat down by the football field to give you an introduction and after 10 minutes, you said you didn't feel comfortable there (because of the people and dogs around), but this is a neighborhood, we cannot tell the residents to leave. We picked the least frequented spot there, anyways the guide cooperated and kept going, and every time the guide asked if you had any questions, not only did you not say anything but you told your husband to "let the guide do his job" when he asked a question (the guide was talking by the first mural, remember?), the tour turned hostile. Things happen, we understand...
3. You constantly argued with your husband along the way, the guide remained respectful, patient, and doing his job (while you were not listening)
4. We walked you to a local marketplace (not included in the tour) because the neighborhood was busier than usual (due to the city festival and high season) after refusing to take a break/sit at the café because the place was noisy, which is true, but it was YOUR choice, not his. You stating the opposite is ill-intentioned and inaccurate.
5. When we were finishing the tour and sharing with you some details, you interrupted the guide, once again, requesting to buy a hat ASAP. That took at least 20 minutes.
Bottom-line: we respect your point of view, but we believe you are the one who didn't allow the guide to share his knowledge, he conveyed his information even when you were cutting off and prompting him to leave, you even wrote that the guide was generous with his time (the tour took over 5 hours!) and also that you left without sitting nor drinking café? that is not consistent, and you can read the rest of the reviews, everybody highlights how we take it easy with the times, never rushing up people. You are the one who is not up to viator and our standards, the least we expect from a visitor is to listen, be willing to learn, and be respectful, we were within our right to cancel the tour for not letting us do the tour as we had planned, however, we were considerate, patient and adapted to you. Every time your husband tried to ask something, you cut him off too. We all have bad days at work, and this was definitely not one of those, we have been doing these tour for 7 years, the guide is a professional tour guide and even your partner congratulated and tipped him, not to mention he invited him to have lunch too... thanks for your feedback, we'll work on finding a quieter place in the neighborhood during peak season.

Juan was an excellent tour guide - very knowledgeable, patient, and attentive to anything we needed. He took us to all the major sites, was able to answer our many questions, and followed our lead in what we wanted to see and do. Very good and customizable tour with Daniel our local guide. Our guide did a great job explaining the area, helping explain the backstory and history (particularly to be 11 year old) and showing us a lot of commonly seen and unseen parts of Community 13.

My friends and I had a wonderful time being guided on a tour of Comuna 13 with Daniel. From the moment we were picked up and throughout the experience Daniel was concerned, attentive, and accommodating to our group and everyone else he encountered along the way. Daniel’s storytelling was captivating. He shared from a sincere place the story of Columbia and the resilience of the people who settled into that particular community. He spoke with pride of the hard work that was required to reestablish their lives there, and the street art that remains a reminder of the “Revolution of Love” they continue to pursue. We took a beautiful cable car ride through Medellín and we’re provided with snacks and water.
We would recommend that anyone who takes the tour bring along Colombian pesos to buy and support the beautiful products, souvenirs, and street food provided by local vendors.

A friend and I went on this trip with our guide, Daniel. This is a must-do tour for anyone interested in the history of Colombia and Medellin. Such a complicated history which really shows the resiliance and strength of the Colombian people.
Daniel was a superb guide, and told us all about the history of Medellin and Comuna 13. I know we bombarded him with questions and he answered them all thoroughly with patience and enthusiasm! He showed us the many murals throughout Comuna 13, which were spectacular and full of symbolism, and was just fascinating (that was my favorite part). We also took the escalators which helped transport the locals throughout the community.
After Comuna 13, we went to ride the cable car which is primarily a mode of transportation for the locals, but it also gives tourists another good view of the neighborhood.
We are so glad we took this tour and highly recommend taking the time to see Comuna 13. We would also highly recommend requesting Daniel. He was so interesting to talk to and gave us great insight into the Colombian culture. We also talked about a variety of philosophical topics and we could have chatted all day! Also it was very apparent how much he was respected in Comuna 13 as many of the residents greeted him around every corner. Thanks for everything, Daniel!

We were fortunate to spend the afternoon with Daniel as our tour guide. Through his knowledge and connections within the community, we were able to learn so much about the people, the history and especially the art. He took his time to answer our many questions and highlight the positives about the area and people. I highly recommend spending the extra money for the private tour as we saw others on groups and felt we were getting much more out of it. But either way Comuna 13 should not be missed if you are visiting Medellin. It was a highlight of our 11 day travels through Colombia.

Our guide Cesar expertly led us through the colorful maze of Comuna 13. We saw vibrant street art, galleries, and a local bar 😁.
We also learned about how the community project was successfuly implemented.
The cable car ride was the perfect end to our day. I highly recommend this experience!

Mateo was very good and knowledgeable of the history. The cable cars were closed the day we did tour for maintenance. However, Mateo made up for it by taking us downtown to makeup for that part of the tour. What I loved most was that tour was private and personal. Definitely recommend.

This tour was memorable! Our guide, Daniel, was incredible, so informative and helpful but also very nice and funny. We loved to get to know the history of the Comuna, how it developed to what it is now. All the stories Daniel told us were amazing, the life of the Comuna was exciting. Finally, the cable car trip was the perfect ending in order to see the full extension of the Comuna and the surrounding comunas! We definitely recommend this tour if you come to Medellin!

Kevin was the absolute best. He had a thorough knowledge of Comuna 13. it was great to learn the history and see the absolutely beautiful graffiti and artwork. It was a gorgeous day and he was more than happy to take photos of me as I was traveling solo. There are many Comuna 13 tours, but this one was exceptional.

I would highly recommend this tour and request Daniel as the tour guide. He is very fluent in Spanish AND English. He is very knowledgeable about Colombia's history in terms of politics, economic social classes, current events affecting the community, and Comuna 13 (actually knows the people and the neighborhoods) and the meanings of the Murals.
