I had a fantastic time on this tour. Everything ran smoothly. Celeste, our tour guide was great, and the day felt well put together without being rushed. Piedra del Peñol was nice and combined with the tour to the town of Guatape completed the experience. The boat ride, lunch and the visit to the Farm were the perfect additions. I left very happy with the experience. Highly recommend 🙂

A well organised day trip and an easy way to visit Guatapé and El Peñón from Medellín. The views from the top of the rock are spectacular and the town itself is colourful and interesting to walk around. The guide and transport were smooth and everything ran as expected. A good option if you want to see the area without planning it yourself.

Itinerary

You’ll meet your guide at the Medellin meeting point and board the vehicle destined for the colorful town of Guatapé. Along the way, you’ll stop off for a traditional Colombian breakfast.

On arrival, you’ll admire the La Fenix de America monument before ascending the almost 750 steps to the top of Peñol Rock (La Piedra del Peñol), from which you’ll soak up stunning views of Lake Guatapé.

Then, you’ll rest your legs and enjoy a well-deserved lunch before exploring the quaint town of Guatapé and taking a boat ride on the Peñol Guatapé Dam.

Finally, you’ll return to the bus and relax during the 2-hour journey back to the original meeting point in Medellin.

The tour itself is a must. The service made it even better! It rained in and off during the day, but Marlon must have spoke to the rain Gods because during the times we needed it to stop it did. Great tour, highly recommend. P.S the stairs can be intimidating, but you got it.

Great option for an extra day in Medellin

My friend and I were on the tail-end of a weeklong Colombia trip and wanted something to do locally in or around Medellin the day before our flight home - I ended up finding this tour and was glad I did! For the price it's an amazing value with breakfast and lunch included. Our guide Marlon was excellent, very attentive and engaging. I'm still not a huge fan of group tours because of the unavoidable "tourist vibes" you get from them, and if I had it to do over again I probably would have paid extra for the private experience, but that price is just unbeatable and the whole thing was organized so well.

Awesome day trip to lush countryside outside of Medellin. El Penol was a challenge but the views from the top, wow! Guatape was a colorful delight with plenty of time to savour a Colombian coffee or two. Marlon was a fab guide.
