Fantastic Private Tour of Guatapé & El Peñol with Nelson!
We had an absolutely wonderful day exploring El Peñol and Guatapé! From the beginning, the company communicated with us ahead of time, which made everything very easy and stress-free.
Our guide, Nelson, picked us up from our hotel right on time, and we immediately felt comfortable with him. He was incredibly nice, friendly, and easy to talk to. The drive to El Peñol and Guatapé was enjoyable, and we made a stop along the way for breakfast, which was very good.
At El Peñol, Nelson gave us about 80 minutes to purchase our tickets, climb to the top, enjoy the incredible views, take plenty of pictures, and come back down. It was the perfect amount of time, and we never felt rushed.
After the climb, we had something to drink and continued to Guatapé Pueblo, which was absolutely beautiful! We had some time to explore on our own, and then met up with Nelson again. He gave us even more information about the town, showed us beautiful spots and some of the cutest, colorful zócalos, and even took pictures of us. He was so patient and made sure we had plenty of time to enjoy everything. We never felt rushed at any point during the tour.
Later, we had a late lunch, which was really good, and then enjoyed a fun and very informative boat ride. It was a great way to see more of the area and learn about its history.
The drive back to Medellín was smooth, and we arrived back without any problems after a fantastic day.
We highly recommend this private tour, and especially Nelson! He was knowledgeable, personable, patient, and genuinely made the experience special. Having a private tour allowed us to enjoy the day at our own pace, and Nelson did an excellent job of making sure we got the most out of our visit.
If you're planning a trip to Guatapé and El Peñol, we definitely recommend booking this tour and asking for Nelson. You won't be disappointed!

Beautiful Waterfalls and an Adventurous Hike!
This was such a fun and memorable hiking experience! We were picked up in a comfortable van, and our guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly had everyone’s safety in mind throughout the entire tour.
As we started hiking through the park, he shared the history of the area along with some really interesting information about the local plants. He pointed out plants to be careful around, including ones with spikes, and even told us about the fascinating “roofie plant” and some of the local stories and social warnings surrounding it. I really enjoyed how much we learned along the way—it made the hike about more than just reaching the waterfalls.
One thing I would mention for future travelers is that I personally would not consider this a beginner hike. I saw other reviews describing it as moderate, but I think you should have at least some hiking experience and be comfortable with climbing. There is one section where you actually have to climb across and up a rock using metal footholds/handholds to help pull yourself up. It’s not an extremely high-intensity hike, but it does require some strength, balance, and confidence, so I would definitely keep that in mind before booking.
The waterfalls themselves were absolutely beautiful! The water was incredibly cold, but jumping in was so refreshing and completely worth it. My friend and I had such a great time enjoying the scenery and the whole experience.
I would absolutely recommend this tour, especially on a warm, sunny day. If you enjoy hiking, adventure, beautiful scenery, and don’t mind getting into some very cold water, this is a fantastic way to experience a different side of Medellín!

It was such an amazing...
It was such an amazing experience! Oscar is so knowledgeable and an amazing guide! The tour was well organized and there was some room to do so some shopping for souvenirs. The coffee farm was an amazing experience and the coffee farm we went to was so much fun! Oscar was also a great driver and allowed us to stop for breakfast and lunch during the tour!

A great day
The tour guide was great and very friendly. Breakfast in the morning was good and so was lunch in the afternoon. The drive was comfortable. I did go to the top at el peñol but honestly the view from halfway was pretty decent so I don’t think I would do that again. I would probably just hang out and take some pictures and grab a snack instead. Overall everything was great but be prepared to walk a lot!!
