I booked this tour with my partner and we could not have had a better experience.
Our tour guide was Joshua and he was a 12/10 tour guide. He picked us up right at the hostel we were staying at - he was informative, professional and very easy-going. He was great with letting us go at our own pace and we spent much of our tour time exploring the “Comuna 13” and the Downtown area. We never made it to the cable cars which was our own decision because we wanted to spend more time at the first two destinations and Joshua was very accommodating.
“Comuna 13” was a bustling favela type neighborhood that had plenty of cool things to check out: Bars/Restaurants, Street Food, Street Graffiti, Soccer Field and Joshua gave some insight to the history of the neighborhood as it was “the most dangerous” neighborhood back in the ‘80’s.
From there we went to the downtown area where we walked around and Joshua explained some of the more prominent buildings in the downtown area and we did some shopping with the local vendors. He also took us to the “Nacional Palacio” which was their version of a mall but it was a beautiful building with an art museum on the rooftop floor which i would highly recommend checking out. Joshua was also EXTREMELY helpful with helping us haggle on prices in the downtown area as me and my partner were not the best at speaking Spanish.
All in all - we had a great time and cannot thank Joshua enough for a great day exploring the city of Medellín!

Carlos gave our group of 4 great private tour In Medellin. He was prompt and knowledgeable about the city and its history. We had only arrived that morning and we were pretty tired but he was as patient with us and very accommodating. We really enjoyed getting to know him and his own personal experiences. Near the end of this tour, our group (myself, my wife, and my wife’s sister) was taken into downtown Medellín. This area was a sharp contrast from previous stops and immediately felt unsafe. There was a large homeless population and many young males sitting throughout the area.
During this portion of the tour, at least a dozen individuals aggressively approached me asking for money. I repeatedly had to say “no.” At no point did our tour guide intervene or attempt to redirect us away from these encounters. We also walked past very large groups of homeless individuals, including one group of approximately 15–20 people gathered around a street drainage grate tearing through garbage bags. At that moment, I began questioning why we were being routed through this area at all.
We were dressed conservatively and intentionally tried not to draw attention to ourselves. We wore no visible jewelry, no necklaces, no bracelets, and no flashy watches. I was only wearing a basic black Casio watch. We had no backpacks. My wife carried a pouch, and my sister-in-law wore a small cross-body bag.
Before entering Parque de Bolívar (city park), the guide mentioned that a previous tourist he brought through this same park had been robbed when a group of males snatched the person’s necklace. Despite this warning, we were told not to worry and assured that we would be fine since we did not appear to have valuables.
As we walked through Parque de Bolívar, we noticed very few tourists. Most people in the park were younger males sitting around and watching us. My sister-in-law felt uncomfortable enough that she asked the guide if we could avoid walking back through the park after visiting the nearby cathedral. She later explained that the way the individuals in the park were watching us made her uneasy. The guide again assured us that we would be fine.
We continued to the end of the park and visited the Catedral Metropolitana de Medellín. I briefly took my phone out to take photos and then placed it back into my rear pocket. Afterward, the guide directed us to walk back through Parque de Bolívar.
Near the south end of the park, close to Carrera 49 and Calle 54, a group of people suddenly moved close to me. I did not realize what was happening at the time. Loud noises were made directly in front of me, and I felt a slight bump on my right side. I immediately jumped away, sensing something had just occurred. Approximately 10 seconds later, someone said, “They got your phone.” I checked my pocket and my phone was gone.
The individuals involved disappeared immediately. The guide attempted to locate anyone responsible but was unsuccessful. The guide then contacted police. Approximately 8–12 officers responded and escorted us to a nearby police substation located roughly 50 yards from where the incident occurred. The area had a mostly unobstructed view of the location, aside from some vegetation. Unfortunately, the perpetrators were not located, and video footage was not immediately available.
The incident occurred inside Parque de Bolívar at the south entrance/exit near Carrera 49 and Calle 54 on Saturday, December 27th, at approximately 5:00–5:30 PM.
I was not physically harmed. However, the phone theft was clearly organized and executed extremely quickly using a distraction tactic. I strongly advise future travelers to exercise extreme caution in this area and to seriously reconsider walking through Parque de Bolívar, even as part of a guided tour.
I relied on this tour’s high ratings, positive reviews, and the fact that it was offered through Viator, which gave me a false sense of security. My intent in writing this review is to provide awareness so other travelers can make informed decisions regarding their personal safety.

Camilo was an awesome guide on my solo trip through La Comuna 13 and downtown. Everyone knows him so be prepared to be treated like a local. Transportation was solid; he picked me up from my hotel right on time. His English is very strong and we were able to discuss everything from history to politics to art. I would highly recommend Camilo and would definitely call him my next time to La Ciudad de La Eterna Primavera.

I beg and WARN everyone who reads this. DO NOT BOOK this tour!!! My husband was robbed, mugged and physically jumped and harmed on this tour during our walk through downtown in the Botero park area near the Metropolitan Cathedral. This tour and tour guide put us in direct danger after confirming with ALL THE LOCALS…this is NOT A PLACE to go or walk through after dark!! We were picked up 3 hours later than 1pm tour time which led us into an evening later night tour..very very careless of the tour operator to take us into this area at @7pm. We are still traumatized and can not sleep reliving this HORRIBLE nightmare!!!!!!

1. Tour Start Time
The reservation was made at 1:00 p.m. and the client was informed that afternoon guides had already been assigned. As an alternative, we offered to begin at 2:00 p.m. with a morning guide after his prior tour and a short break. The client accepted, and later agreed with the guide to start at 2:30 p.m. All schedule adjustments were proposed, consulted, and accepted. Therefore, presenting this as company negligence does not reflect the facts.
2. Tour Development
The itinerary includes Comuna 13, Cable Car, Metro, Parque de las Luces, and Plaza Botero. The tour is designed to start at Comuna 13, the most attractive site, with a total duration of 4–5 hours. In this case, the clients chose to spend over 2 hours there, which is valid given the private nature of the service. When continuing later in the afternoon, they still decided to visit the remaining stops. To optimize time, the guide suggested going directly by vehicle instead of using the Metro, a decision they freely agreed to.
3. Incident
In over 8 years of operations, this is the first time an event of this kind has occurred. It was an unforeseen and unfortunate situation, entirely beyond the company’s control. Clients were advised to file a report at the nearby Metropolitan Police Station but declined. They were also reminded of their travel insurance coverage, including medical assistance, which they refused.

Joshua with Camantours was great guide that spoke good English. We thoroughly enjoyed the tour and he demostrated patience with us as one of my friends is not the fastest walker up the hills. Commune 13 was very nice and provided great views for pictures and the cable ride was nice. We took the metro into the center which was another great local experience. Overall great experience and accommodating as this tour was booked at the last minute but we encountered no issues

Camilo was a fantastic guide through Médellin. Most stops were unusually crowded due to the fútbol match later in the day. Nonetheless, Camilo expertly guided us through the sites ensuring we saw everything on our itinerary and even received a special sweet treat along the way. I really enjoyed this tour with Juan, as I had already seen some places included on the he was very accomodating and we were able to see different sites, we went through El Poblado and he recommended some places to visit, we went on the metro cable and downtown to plaza botero, el parque de las luces, parque bolivar and el palacio de los tenis stopped for something to eat arepa de huevo, jugo de mora which I had been on the look out for and I even managed to pick up some coloring books for my kids. Friendly guide, great company.

I was in Medellin for a retreat, but prior to the retreat I had a couple days to explore Medellin. I found the company, Camantours Medellin and saw they had some great options for a city tour and paragliding so I decided to give them a try. The experience exceeded all my expectations. I was connected on Whatsapp with Camilo who answers all my questions and got me connected with Joshua who was my private tour guide for the day. He took me up to the paragliding and then to the city tour right afterwards. The paragliding was simply amazing. I have previously been skydiving and ziplining, but I have to say this experience rivals those two other activities. Spending 20 or so minutes in the air to take in the views of Medellin is something I will never forget and I highly recommend every give it a try. My "pilot" was very professional and the Go-Pro pictures and videos were all included in the pricing. Great value overall. In terms of the city tour, Joshua was excellent. I was able to spend time at the key spots so it was a very effective use of time. The highlights he selected were perfect. The private tour is definitely the way to go in my mind. Keep up the great work Camilo and Joshua! I will recommend your company to my family and friends!
