Choose between a morning or afternoon start time and then receive a pickup by private vehicle from your hotel in the El Poblado or Laureles area of Medellin.
Along with a guide ho specializes in cartel knowledge, visit key locations and monuments from Escobar's life, including a church used by Escobar and his men to obtain “blessings” for bullets they planned to use in hits and one of Escobar’s favorite eateries. You’ll also see the house where Escobar was finally murdered by the authorities and the cemetery on the outskirts of town that houses his remains.
Upgrade to visit 'La Catedral,' a hybrid “jail” and vacation complex where Escobar negotiated with the Colombian government to stay in order to avoid prison. Your driver takes you back to your Medellin hotel at the end of the tour.

It seems like you could just take a taxi to each of the locations on your own and save your money. Our guide talked A LOT (like nonstop) about not much. Not super informative.

First and foremost, we have thoroughly checked our booking system for the recent month of July, and we cannot find any reservation under your profile name and you didn't provide the guide name either. We would appreciate it if you could verify your booking details directly with us, as this helps ensure we are addressing a genuine customer experience. Most of our customers contact us directly if they need assistance.
Furthermore, a standard yellow taxi is not a legal or safe tourism vehicle in Colombia, nor does it possess the engine power or authorization required to safely navigate the steep, mountain roads leading to historical sites outside the city, such as La Catedral, neither they know our secluded sites. Relying on a regular taxi with spanish speaking driver for this specific itinerary is not only impractical but imposible and legally non-compliant and very unsafe for international travelers.
Regarding your comment about our "guide" talking "A LOT" We do a comprehensive historical tour, not a silent bus or taxi transport service. The complex history of Medellín cannot be explained in a brief, one minute script or just pointing at a site or worse reading a quick Wikipedia summary.

The communication was poor. Instead of being told, I had to call for details on the time we would get picked up. It was three of us for the tour and we were picked up by the driver in a midsize suv that we had to share with the guide. Three of us had to sit uncomfortably in the backseat. The tour itself was underwhelming…especially for the price of the tickets.

First, you mentioned poor communication. Our booking system automatically confirms your tour and provides our phone number and email. We also replied to your messages and even answered your calls on a Sunday, during a meeting with another client. It's difficult to see how that constitutes poor communication.
You also complained about the vehicle. The tour description specifies that three guests and a guide would be in a "midsize SUV." We provided a new, fully insured electric Kia SUV—a vehicle far more spacious and comfortable than the small sedans commonly used for tours in Colombia. We also find it interesting that you accepted the service, saw the vehicle, and had our contact information, yet you never mentioned any issue until after the tour.
Finally, you called the tour itself "underwhelming." Perhaps you were unaware that your tour included a visit to four different municipalities, including a drive to the secluded rural area of Envigado to see the Cathedral Jail, a significant site that many tours skip. We pride ourselves on offering a comprehensive experience. Our prices reflect this, as well as the high commissions, taxes, and contributions we make to local nonprofits to ensure we operate legally and sustainably. We also pay our drivers and guides well, as they are professionals providing a high level of service.

I appreciate you conveying to other travelers about the fluent English aspect. You mentioned that I was the only fluent English speaker that you encountered in Medellin and Bogota. This is a supremely important topic that is overlooked. Other companies advertise and charge tourists for "supposed fluent English", when in reality, they lack in fluidity, are difficult to discern and are less than stellar.
Also, I really felt enthralled when you said "Alex, what is the key to get a great guide like you when we travel around the world"?

They allowed me to book the tour the same day well after tour had started

To refresh your memory, you booked at 10am, the tour was at 1pm and Viator reimbursed you the same day according to them.
We have no control over Viator's fraud policies and reimbursements etc.
We have nothing to do with your issue. You were red flagged by Viator, therefore we could not do the tour.

Andres did an outstanding job describing the history behind the Medellín cartel in the 80s and 90s. It’s clear that he’s passionate about the subject and enjoys discussing it. He answered all of our questions and made us feel engaged.

4 adult males booked this tour and they show up in a 4 door small car. I request a larger vehicle and the company rudely responds. After one hour and $100 a van show up for us.
4 hour tour with approximately 3 hrs of car time driving from one end of town to the other.

I recently had the opportunity to take the Private Half-Day Pablo Escobar Godfather Tour in Medellin and it was truly an unforgettable experience. Our tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable about the life and legacy of Pablo Escobar and took us to all the key locations associated with the infamous drug lord. From visiting Escobar's former mansion, to seeing the site of his final shootout with authorities, our guide provided us with a wealth of information and insights that truly brought the history to life. Not only did we learn about Escobar's rise to power and eventual downfall, but our guide also shared personal anecdotes and stories that added a personal touch to the tour. The tour was well-organized and allowed us to see a different side of Medellin that is often overshadowed by Escobar's notoriety.
