Stories of the sometimes the gross and gory of the past of Southwark. Instead of hearing about stories of the upper classes, we heard stories about the poor peasants
As a history buff I thoroughly enjoyed this walking tour. Learned a few things on the way. A perfect combo of history and comedic jokes.
Maggie, our tour guide was brilliant, her passion of telling the stories really brought them to life. You can tell she really knows the stories, and cared about them, instead of just telling them.
We shared a few laughs, a few gross facts and a few surprises on the way.

This tour was FANTASTIC! The history is perfectly dark, and a great way to discover a different side of the city. We highly recommend this one. It will leave you talking about the tales well beyond your trip. Not for littles. Adults only. Easy walking for most people.

I’m not sure what I was expecting, but it was great! A good opportunity to learn about the darker side of London’s history in a creative way. The knowledge acquired is different from your average “tour guide” education. Great acting by the tour guides as well. I ended up being the only person, and was glad they didn’t cancel on me.

I really enjoyed this tour, I love knowing how things work and that’s what this tour does. I was worried it was scary but it’s not at all. Although, I will warn it has nothing to do with Jack the Ripper but rather the terrible times that people back in the day went through in London! After this I will never look at London ever the same again!

Our guide Mary gave us the scoop on the seamier side of London, in Southwark, with plenty of cultural and historical information that you probably will never hear on any other tour. There didn't seem to be any question that she couldn't answer, and she kept us entertained and informed the entire time. Special shout-out to Clement, Mark, and oh dear, I forgot the other name!

We arrived just before the schuled time, only to find tour had already started, if we had arrived exactly at the scheduled time the tour would have already moved on.
But apart from that, the tour was brilliant. Our guide Mary B was easy to hear, engaging, informative and fun. Would do this tour again.

My teenage nephew and I were on a sightseeing trip to London and needed something interesting to do on the evening. There were a whole host of options available, but we landed on this - and we were so glad that we did.
The team running the event struck that perfect balance of being fun, knowledgeable and engaging. There was a great narrative throughout the evening, with each stop adding more colour to the story as things got progressively more bleak for the people of South London at the time. A real revelation of several hundred years of history told in gruesome detail!
For those wondering, there wasn't too much walking from stop to stop, but each location was different and you got to see plenty of historic sites and how they have changed into the modern era.

Mary was enthusiastic and knowledgeable and put her heart and sole into the evening, she was a wonderful story teller adding fun (and traumatic) facts. She was also very knowledgeable and could answer any questions we asked. Her surf added extra fun to the tour 😂😂. Good value for money.

We loved the performance of our tour guide and her aid throughout the walk. Both were wonderfully entertaining and informative. My only critique would be that the overview of the programme mentioned a real murder story would be presented at the end in the George Inn, but this did not happen.

This walking tour was so fun. The host and his sidekick were highly entertaining. Great storytelling and incredibly knowledgeable. Learned a great deal more than we expected. The topic is a little “spicy” for small kids but my teen had a fantastic time.
