I will meet you at the West Gate which is the main palace entrance. Once you have entered through Trophy Gate from the road A309, proceed up the driveway which is known as Trophy Drive, I shall wait near the moat just in front of the main entrance, West Gate.

Sarah Slater just delivered the most EXCEPTIONAL tour we ever could have imagined!!! We were blown away by her knowledge, expertise, and kindness to wait for us for this once in a lifetime experience even though we were delayed by train in our arrival. She took her time to dive deep through Tudor through Georgian history with us and was kind enough to take some wonderful pictures! We couldn’t recommend her enough, she truly made this an experience we will remember for a lifetime!!!

Sarah was an excellent tour guide for Hampton Court Palace. She ‘met me where I was’ in my knowledge of the palace and the history of the monarchy. She also spent time on the things I was interested in (the history, the architecture) and avoided the things I was less interested in (the art). She is very easygoing and accommodating. Would highly recommend Sarah for anyone wanting a more tailored visit.

Sarah is superb. Her depth of knowledge of English history is extraordinary (she should be a professor) and made our visit to Hampton Court the highlight of our trip. I’ve been fascinated by Henry VIII and his six wives since I was eight and I was so excited to see Hampton Court Palace in person. I wanted to do it right so I didn’t hesitate inviting a private tour half and I am so glad I did. Sarah was a FANTASTIC tour guide. She is incredibly knowledgeable and engaging. She also did a wonderful job of including our kids (ages 16, 13, and 11) and getting them interested in the hundreds of years of history. I do not think they would have enjoyed the trip to Hampton Court Palace if we had just walked the rooms and grounds reading signs. We are so happy we had Sarah to bring it all to life!! Sarah did a perfect job of taking us around in the two hours and then we spent another four hours at the palace. Highly recommended and cannot thank Sarah enough.

We enjoyed hearing about the origin of the Palace and Cardinal Wolseley’s role, as well as the lineage and succession of Henry VIII and his heirs. Sarah eloquently described the various architectural and decorative features of the Palace, past and present, down to interpreting the graffiti on the stonework. She also provided a lot of insight into how the Royal court operated, including the significance of the bedroom assignments. An outstanding experience!

Had a private tour with Sarah Slater. I was running late and she was looking for me and could not have been nicer about my delay. Her knowledge of Hampton Court, Palace and the kings and Queens and aristocrats who inhabited it was unbelievable. She also knew all about the art in the palace and the plantings in the gardens and had a wonderful and calm demeanor. She was one of the official Hampton court guides before Covid and now works independently, but she knows everyone in the palace and they all help each other out. It’s a wonderful collegial group. I could not have had a better experience.
