Operating Schedule: We start the pick-ups in downtown La Fortuna at 8:40 AM. In some locations, pick-ups may begin a few minutes earlier. After that, we will travel for approximately 30 minutes to Místico Park, where we will begin the first tour, which will last about 2.5 hours.

Our guide was able to spot a frog that was so small I couldn’t believe he saw that. He found a viper hanging inside a knot hole in a tree that was so hard to distinguish until he pointed it out. Our guide was patient and so knowledgeable! We appreciated his kindness with our older family members. His name was Miguel. Love those silly ants carrying those leaves all marching in a line. Great views and so much flora and fauna it’s amazing.

Josue was super friendly and taught us a lot about the area. Plus he pointed out baby humming birds in a nest and a bright red frog we totally would have missed without him
very fun and informative. A lot of walking but worth the views. The waterfall was amazing worth the steps!
We chose the Mistico-Waterfalls trip. Mistico is a gorgeous park with abundant wildlife. We've now had several guides, but our guide on this trip wasn't passionate about helping us see the wildlife or in telling us very much about it. He also kept a pace that made it hard to stop and observe. And when we did find something he didn't point it out and talk us through he aimed his telescope and took pictures through our phones, which was nice, but didn't help us see. And the Waterfalls, we really didn't need a guide for. It would be nice if you could pick your guide and read the reviews of them. Or express what you were hoping for. Perhaps some people want to go quick and to focus on the photographs and others want a guide with a passionate naturalist.
The bridges allow for beautiful views and ability to see the volcano along with frogs and snakes. We had a great guide who shared his knowledge as we hiked. My 3 year old enjoyed the bridges and the putting her feet in the waterfall waters . The lunch spot was delicious and very large portion!
The tour guide was great! Amazing at finding wildlife during the hanging bridge tour. The waterfall component was beautiful as was the swim below the falls (just be aware there are approx. 500 stairs down to the falls). The lunch in between was terrible. Food was dry/over cooked and generally bland. It included one glass of oce tea but had to pay for a refill.

My tour guide was incredibly friendly and knew so much about the animals. He took some amazing photos for me of all the wildlife. He was so knowledgeable and made the experience really awesome. The driver was also very kind. He charged my phone for me and held onto some souvenirs I bought while I finished my tour. So hospitable and kind. Thank you!

We had a memorable experience! It was equal parts challenging, educational & fun! Our guide made sure to keep my children safe which gave me such peace of mind. He also was a wealth of knowledge & made sure to point out many animals & creatures in the rainforest. We had the absolute best day & highly recommend this excursion!
The tour company, Arenal Jungle Tours, was not satisfactory. They were nearly an hour picking us up (with no replies to my WhatsApp messages), the group was far too large to allow the guide to be engaging and effective (we were bored), and the range of walking abilities was excessive (resulting in most people standing around far too long, and no time for the guide to do anything but walk). It boiled down to very expensive transportation, as virtually nothing else of value was provided…..except the lunch, which was good! I have expressed my concerns with the tour company management, but have received no reply…which is also disappointing!

Michael was such a great tour guide, and Melvin the driver was great as well, they went out of the way to ensure we were all enjoying and not rushing us at all, lots of walking and a lot of steps, it was 100% worth it
Fantastic tour! Sergio was so interactive and took time to make sure we saw everything! Sloths, birds, snakes. Lizards and an ant eater! Definitely worth it?
Viatar said it was a 3 hour day. It ended up a 6 hour day with stops not advertised. It was too long

Thank you for your feedback. I think that you didn´t read the whole description of the tour. 3 hours is just the first part of the tour that are the Hanging Bridges, then 1 hour for lunch and 2 hours for the Waterfall :)

This is a full day of adventure with awesome views from the hanging bridges and some relaxation at the waterfall. We even got to see sloths at the sloth park. There are lots of steps down and up for the waterfall so be prepared.
