- The minimum age to drive an ATV is 14 years old. The minimum age for passengers is 5 years old, and they must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
- It is required to wear closed shoes for the activity and sunglasses are recommended.
- We recommend wearing comfortable clothing and bringing a change of clothes if needed.
- This is not a private activity; it is a group experience shared with other participants.
- Regular rain in La Fortuna is not a reason to cancel the tour, as it is part of the tropical rainforest experience.
- In case of thunderstorms, we will wait up to 30 minutes after the scheduled tour time, since they usually last between 15 and 30 minutes. If conditions do not improve after this period, the activity will be modified or canceled.
- We will send you a message with your pick-up location and time, which will depend on your hotel’s location. Please be ready at the scheduled pick-up time. We will wait a maximum of 5 minutes. If you are not present within this 5-minute period, the reservation will be marked as a no-show and the full amount will apply.
- For direct arrivals at the farm, the scheduled arrival time is 10 minutes before the tour start time: 7:50 AM for the 8:00 AM tour, 11:20 AM for the 11:30 AM tour, and 2:50 PM for the 3:00 PM tour. We will wait up to 5 minutes after the scheduled arrival time. After that, the reservation will be marked as a no-show.
- To ensure a safe and enjoyable experience, we include a short practice ride before the tour. If a participant is not able to drive safely, they can still enjoy the experience as a passenger within their group. Please note that the reservation secures the ATV space, so refunds do not apply if it is not used as a driver.
- Depending on the rain, crossing the Arenal River may not be possible. In such cases, we will not cross the river for safety reasons.
- This tour/activity will have a maximum of 10 travelers

If you're looking for adventure, stunning scenery, and a good dose of mud, this ATV tour is a must-do! We had an amazing time exploring both on and off farmland – zooming through trails, splashing through river crossings, and even stopping for a refreshing swim in the river. The route was perfect, mix of mud and fun. The best way to see Costa Rica.
Our guide Randal was fantastic. He was knowledgeable, super friendly, and made sure everyone felt safe and confident throughout the ride. He shared great insights about the land and local wildlife, adding a cultural touch to the adrenaline-filled experience.
Highly recommend this tour for anyone looking to get off the beaten path and see the real Costa Rica in a fun, adventurous way!

This was an incredibly fun adventure! Our guide was great and we were on 3 different terrains. One thing I would suggest is a bit more instructions on how you handle the ATV when you get to uneven areas. Using the brake at the wrong time, versus just letting up on the gas is an important detail. I did get banged once. But all was well. Would highly recommend this tour!
The experience is amazing; however, the smell of the safety helmets is quite unpleasant. It’s highly recommended.

300$ for 1.5 hours. Didn’t stop to see anything from the photos. Felt rushed. Wouldn’t recommend to anyone.

We’re sorry to hear you felt rushed and didn’t experience the tour as expected. Our rates range from $94.50 to $210 for 1–2 people, depending on the option booked. The route includes the volcano viewpoint when weather conditions allow, La Guaria village, river crossings when conditions are safe, the Arenal River, and the volcanic mud experience. These are part of the route, so we’re sorry you did not perceive or enjoy these attractions during your visit.
On rainy days, the volcano may not be visible due to natural conditions, but the ATV tour operates in both rain and sunshine. We appreciate your feedback and will review what happened with our team.
Tour guide was rude. Would be very obviously annoyed if someone got stuck, and would bluntly say get off when helping. Seemed like we were a burden for him and our tour was cut short. The whole experience was more stressful than anything worrying not to upset him. Overall very disappointing, didn’t even get to do the mud mask either.

I wouldn’t recommend this activity or tour operator. The staff were friendly and punctual, but overall the experience did not meet my expectations.
The safety instructions took about 20 minutes, which felt excessive for a two-hour tour. The route itself was fairly simple, and although the rain made it more challenging, we rode very slowly. Instead of sharing information about the area, rivers, or volcano, the guide spent much of the time talking about personal matters, which became repetitive.
Unfortunately, we couldn’t see the volcano due to the weather, which was understandable. However, halfway through the tour, we were told that the volcanic mud experience was unavailable because of recent landslides. We should have been informed of this before the tour started.
The ATVs were also not in the best condition, and the helmets were dirty, smelled damp, and did not seem properly sanitized.
The staff were very nice, but considering the overall experience, I would not recommend this tour.

This was great! After a short safety briefing and a practice trip around a short track, you head out following the guide for a 2 hour jaunt through the forest, going over some pretty rough and muddy terrain. The ATVs are easy to control and can get up to a decent speed, and as long as you're being reasonably responsible, are perfectly safe -- we didn't feel like we were ever in danger of losing control or flipping the vehicle.
There's a stop about halfway through at the river to stretch your legs, get wet if you want to, and have a quick snack, before you head back. There are some long stretches where you're driving on paved roads, which I found to be less fun than the muddy, rutted tracks in the forest, but overall this was a good time that I would do again.
Two things to note: the description says there's an optional volcanic mud mask at the river, but our guide never mentioned it (not that I would have done it; the mud is not particularly inviting). Also, they provide helmets, but the helmets get quite warm and sweaty, and as a result they smell pretty bad. You get used to it (my partner has a delicate sense of smell and was fine) but it is a bit unpleasant in the beginning.

We had a blast. We went through lots of mud with dips and turns. We crossed the river and spent time their exploring the area. Our tour guide, Andres was great.

Booked atvs and mud masks and the whole off roading experience your barely touching the throttle the only spot you can actually press it a bit is when you get on a small strip of road. I was at the back so I tried to hang a bit back and let everyone go threw the mud and I would go and hit it with a bit of speed because I paid for an atv off-roading tour and not only did I get reported by the guide in the back for (being to rough on the machine) we also never got the mud masks it was if you are an experienced driver do not book this tour !!

Our tours take place in a mountainous rainforest environment, so we have strict safety guidelines and our guides may ask guests to slow down if they feel someone is exceeding a safe speed.
The experience is designed as a family-friendly and cultural adventure, combining ATV riding with stops to enjoy nature, wildlife, scenic viewpoints, the Arenal River, volcanic mud, and other highlights along the route. We do not recommend this tour for guests looking for a high-speed or racing experience.

Great family outing! Staff were friendly, professional and knowledgeable loved trekking through the jungle. I misunderstood when ai booked and through the were going around the base of the volcano. Did not miss it in the end. Through the rain, jungles and river we had a blast. Would do it again.

It was overall a fun experience with some pretty views and of course a pineapple snack by the river. We did not get a “mud mask”- our operator said we were out of time. My only real complaint was that I do not believe they are sanitizing the helmets after each use. We put our helmets on and it had very obvious odor from previous wearers. Other than that, our guides were courteous and professional.

It was not very adventurous. It was fairly tame ride we never even went fast. Also we did not do the "mud bath" nor was it even mentioned. Did much more exciting ride in Jaco.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. Our tour is not a racing or rally-style experience. It takes place on a private farm with muddy trails, puddles, and mountainous terrain, with stops at a viewpoint on clear days, the Arenal River, and volcanic mud.
We don’t ride at high speeds because the terrain can become dangerous, especially on the muddy and mountainous sections. Our focus is on enjoying the trails, nature, and scenery safely. We appreciate your feedback and hope this helps clarify the type of experience we offer.
This was a very fun activity! The only downside was that we did not do the mud that was included with the activity.

Length of tour was shorter than advertised. Tour was advertised as about 3 hours. Our reservation was for 3pm and we finished the tour at 4:30pm.

Thank you for your feedback. As described on the activity profile, the tour is advertised as 3 hours, including transportation, as the booking platform requires us to configure the duration this way.
The transportation usually takes around 30 minutes for pick-up (depending on the location of the accommodation) and 30 minutes for drop-off. The ATV ride itself covers a 13.5 km route, including stops at the viewpoint (on clear days), the Arenal River, a fresh fruit break, and the volcanic mud area. The ATV portion of the experience lasts approximately 2 hours, for a total of 3 hours including transportation.
For guests who arrive directly at our property and do not require transportation, the experience on the farm remains approximately 2 hours.
According to our guide, the 3:00 p.m. tour on the day of your visit was completed as normal, and the expected tour time was fulfilled. We appreciate you taking the time to share your experience and hope this helps clarify the advertised duration.
Fantastic guide and experience. The whole group had fun. We are not the most adventurous people, but 16 year old and two adults were able drive atv in the rain while being safe!

The guides were great - very patient with all of us and especially helpful when I fell (twice! - both my fault) and needed to finish the ride on the back of our leader’s ATV. The tour was a lot of fun and a highlight of our trip to La Fortuna. Our guide was helpful and kind. Safety first. There had been a lot of rain so the tour had to be cut short due to the river not being passable due to the heavy rains. The only reason i gave 4 stars is because the helmets smelled really bad.

My family and I loved this tour. Using the ATVs was easy. Part of the train through the jungle was rugged which made for the perfect amount of adventure with a couple of stops along the way. I highly recommend it. The tour operatorss were friendly and helpful. It was first time experience for myself and my 13 yo son and we felt safe and had an amazing time.

This is was fun!! My favorite part was going to the stream and doing the natural volcanic clay mask. My husband loved the four wheelers. We had an amazing time overall. It was one of our favorite excursions in La Fortuna!

This was worth every penny. I traveled with teenagers and was looking for something to kickstart our vacation. This was definitely the best activity for that. We all had a lot of fun the guides were amazing and super knowledgeable and friendly. The sights were awesome totally suggest this if you have teens with you that are looking for something adventure!!!!
