What are people saying about La Fortuna

I came for the chocolate. I stayed for everything else.
Honestly didn't know what to expect from a "chocolate tour" — figured it was just an excuse to eat samples and call it educational. I was not wrong, but I was also completely wrong, if that makes sense. The farm has been growing cacao criollo for nearly 100 years. Our guide walked us through the whole process; from cracking open cacao pods (which looks nothing like what you'd expect, by the way) to grinding, fermenting, and eventually tasting. At every single step there was something to try, which my group took very seriously. What really made this tour was the guide had a great sense of humor. He clearly loves what he does and has been doing it a long time. The knowledge runs deep, but he keeps it accessible and never makes you feel like you're sitting in a lecture. Beyond the chocolate, the farm itself is gorgeous. There are over 37 kinds of tropical fruit growing on the property and we got to try several of them, plus sugar cane, banana, mangoes, pineapples, rum — it kept going. If you're in the area, just go. It's two hours, it's delicious, and you'll leave knowing way more about where chocolate actually comes from than you ever expected to.

Magical creature discovering experience!
Our family of seven and one infant had a wonderful experience discovering all sorts of creatures. Every twenty feet something was found. And, the fresh home cooking to end the evening was excellent. Knowing beforehand about the 45 minute drive would have been a deal breaker, but the whole experience made the drive worth it. Thanks for the memories! The Duby family

We had an awesome time at...
We had an awesome time at the Mistico bridge tour. 100% recommend paying for a guide. We had a lovely woman named Gabby who seemed really passionate about the wildlife of Costa Rica and she helped us spot so much wildlife that we would NEVER have seen otherwise. We brought our almost 5-month-old in a carrier. The site does have strollers for rent but we were glad we opted for the carrier for some of the steeper spots. The tour lasted about 2.5 hours. We saw monkeys, a tarantula, snakes, wild boars, frogs and lots of birds. Highly recommend this activity!!

Must Try
An excellent tour experience overall. Ending the tour with Erick during the coffee, chocolate, and sugar cane demonstration was a highlight. He was engaging, knowledgeable, and made the experience very enjoyable. Ask for Erick The forest portion with Eli was also great and added to the adventure. Highly recommended.
