The quality of the headphone system was poor. This coupled with the speech patters of the tour guide made it very hard to understand the information being communicated. The walk to the top of the Duomo was hard but worth it. That was the best part of the tour. I learned little to nothing from our guide. I would look for a different company to do this tour.

Very personal. Your guide was extremely knowledgable. Was able to enter separately from other tours. Was able to climb both interior and exterior balconied

Pricey. Nice to skip-the-line. Too much background talk on topics not Duomo related. Guide had poor diction. ( we did tip, however).
Got stuck above church floor on hot catwalk for twenty minutes while group above waited to come down. Poor timing and/or coordination. The views from above were amazing. Church was great- but limited time within main floor.

Highly recommend the tour. And the majestic view in particular. We had an excellent guide. Very informative. The climb to the secret terrace was challenging but manageable. I was able to make it to the top of the duomo. The climb was steep. The view at the top and on the terrace overlooking the landscape of the city was all worth it. Magnificent view from the top if you are willing to climb the stairs.

Beautiful views. Strenuous walk up to the top but worth it!! Stunning view of Florence. Seeing the ceiling up close was interesting!!

Our guide Liza was wonderful, very informative, giving us facts and history of the Duomo, explaining its history to the present day.
We climbed!!!! >400 steps but seeing the levels of the dome and the city from the top was well worth it!!! Excellent tour.

We loved the experience of being high up in the dome, both inside and out. The climb is long and steep, so not for all. We stood up inside on the second stop of the climb for almost thirty minutes. I’m sure this was because it is a one way up and down and they have to allow for the people at the very top a way down, plus a limit on how many people can be up there at one time. It was a long time to stand so high up with not a lot of space and the guard wouldn’t allow us to talk to each other. Also, our tour guide talked for 10-15 minutes about the doors of the Baptistry but we didn’t get any information on the exterior of the duomo and what or who any of it was. We all agreed we would have liked a few minutes on that. With all that said, we all really enjoyed the tour and our guide.

An amazing view and a wonderful historic experience. I don't reccomend if you get easily claustrophobic but otherwise a must see! This was my second trip to Florence and I wish I had done this on my first.

The tour company provided clear and timely information prior to the tour. Our tour guide, Giacomo, was excellent - very informative and amusing. He really brought the subject to life. The climb to the terraces and top of the dome were well worth the effort.

Wonderful experience. Plenty of time and make sure to take pictures. The terraces are breathtaking..
Cheryl_V, Nov 2024
Our tour guide made what was already a gorgeous location into a phenomenal experience. And the TERRACES - the VIEW was just SO stunning!! Duomo is not to be missed.

A great guide can really make a beautiful place even better. The view from the terraces must have been stunning, and the Duomo is definitely a must-see!

A fabulous experience. It was the day of our 50th Wedding Anniversary and we decided to mark the occasion in style. My wife, who is nervous with heights was delighted to complete the whole tour right up to the top of the dome. We are both into our 70s and we’re able to complete the physical aspect of the tour, which we did at a nice steady pace. Our tour was in a pleasantly warm, late September afternoon but a typically hot summer’s day, with a lot more tourists would been a no go for us. Views from the hidden gallery and the top of the dome were unforgettable and the highlight of our holiday.

Not enough explanation of the Duoma inside. The information with regards to getting into the Crypt the next day was inaccurate (we were told you did not have to wait in line- you do) . There was not enough detail on the history of the Doumo.. The guide was difficult to understand, although she tried very hard.
Alexa_B, Sep 2024
This tour is great. The Duomo is stunning and the views from the terraces and roof top are amazing. If you are afraid of heights or cannot do a lot of stairs then you may not want to do this but otherwise would highly recommend.
Molly_S, Sep 2024
That climb!!! Tour guide was very informative, but preferred if he was able to stay for the entire time.
Jon_B, Sep 2024
Private VIP tour is the only way to have the full Duomo experience.
The tour and our guide were first class
Tiffany_H, Sep 2024
The terraces are impressive and it was interesting to have a different perspective of the Duomo and piazza. We stayed to climb to the top of the Duomo and that was a memorable experience. We loved seeing the incredible frescoes inside the dome so close- surprisingly arresting!
Our guide from Ciao Italia was very knowledgeable but she spoke very quickly and without much engagement, so we did not absorb much of her information. Later we learned that we could have seen these things and the crypt, as well as the cathedral interior, with the Brunelleschi Ticket, and I think we might have enjoyed exploring without the guide.
Edward_S, Jul 2024
Excellent guide! We very much enjoyed the tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable and gave a lot of great information in a very fun way.
Huey_N, Jul 2024
1- the meeting point was too confusing. It has 2 different addresses.
2- the tour was too simple and short of information. About 30 to 40 minutes with the tour guide and the rest are on your own climbing the roof top
“ not worth the money “
Response from Host, Jul 2024
Dear Huey,
We are sorry that you could not enjoy this wonderful experience. First, we would like to specify that the confusion about the address is not our fault, but it's the civic system in Florence and we cannot do anything about it. Anyway typing the address on Google Maps leads you at the correct meeting point. Secondly, our tour ALWAYS lasts 1 hour and a half, beginning from our office near the Duomo and ending on the top of the Terraces. We are sure about it and respectful of timings because the Cathedral is very strict with timing accesses. Anyway, we do apologize if you had this impression about the tour and if your experience was not worth the money. Best regards,

Our tour guide was great. Very spirited and seemingly knowledgeable. It’s always a toss up though with guides who are multilingual whether they can “capture the drama” of a 2nd language (English for us) or are still at the level where they are regularly employing unusual phrasing or words to satisfy the thought they are trying to convey and it ends up being such a word salad that it makes you zone out..
What I mean is that even though the information was interesting, the tour guide’s words were sometimes a smattering of translated info that, though the usage was technically acceptable , it was too easy to tune out.
After 3 out of our 4 tours so far being like this on this trip via Viator, I do wonder whether these companies would do better to hand their tour guides a script? I accept that my kids will be bored, but even my wife and I who love this stuff sort of drifted.
Other than that, the complex was amazing! Our guide did seem to dial in when it came to the paintings in the dome as this the whole family found easy to folllow and kind of cool.
As for the hidden terraces, we were puzzled about why this was advertised as we were shown no secret sections. There was one upper level room in which instead of looking through a gate we were allowed in to see 8 statues (the story being it was a mystery as to how they had been placed there and by whom. (But again, we may have missed part of that story as that nugget of info was the tail end of it.)
The tour ended before letting us up into the dome (this was to be continued on our own unescorted by any guide) but we were told we could get into the crypt on our own with the tickets. By the time we had gone up and down the three tiers of the dome (and waited on the stairways to clear so we could proceed 15 minutes later), we weren’t sure we were ready to search out the entrance to the crypt so we called it a day.
Bear in mind this is late June and it is rather hot and super crowded so this may have played a part in us not seeing these hidden rooms? But our guide was gone before we realized the tour was missing some elements.
Anyhow, we got in to see the complex quickly. The dome had some waits (1-way only stairs at certain points)..
But Skip the line tickets always seem worth it. Just wish there was a way to utilize otherwise intelligent and very well informed tour guides who aren’t yet “landing the point” of sentences due to their sometimes lesser experience with English.
Again, this was in super crowded June so it may be a better tour when our guide doesn’t have to battle with the competing masses of humanity all trying to get in.
Britta_C, Jun 2024
The climb into the dome and the cupola was hard but amazing. I was disappointed that the tour didn’t include the crypt but was a separate unguided trip.
Christina_F, Jun 2024
Great!! Optional to go up the stairs. Booked it last minute and had a great time! It’s guided up to the terrace (150 steps) then you are free from there. Tickets are good for 72 hours if you want to come back or go to crypt/museum.
Kathy_H, Jun 2024
Organized tour operator with a sweet and knowledgeable guide. Climbing the Duomo was so fun and the views were awesome. Getting a close up view of the paintings on the dome was incredible. Ticket also includes baptistry and bell tower if you want to climb more later!
Nancy_C, Jun 2024
Maria was wonderful giving us great background information and pictures of how things were. Thank you!
Cynthia_C, May 2024
Our guide was Giacomo and he was excellent! Very knowledgeable and a really good sense of humor while telling stories about the history of the complex and the personalities involved. He kept very good track of his group in crowded areas and made sure everyone was together before moving on to another location. The Duomo Complex was one site that my husband hadn't heard much about and wondered if it was worth yet another tour during our trip. I told him I had heard that it was pretty amazing and we should try it. I'm so glad we did - it's absolutely gorgeous everywhere you look and I would call it a "don't miss" site! Also, don't skip the adjacent Duomo museum - it's well worth a visit.
Jessica_Z, May 2024
Giacomo was a great tour guide! Engaging and knowledgable. Be prepared for lots of steps! We really enjoyed the whole experience
Danny_K, May 2024
The climb up to the top of the dome was breathtaking. We did it before 30 years ago and just as good this time. Well worth the effort to get up the 400 plus steps.
Kathleen_B, May 2024
Checkin guy in the office, rude as hell. Tour guide lady good, personable and friendly. View from terrace nice.
AnneMarie_M, May 2024
Our guide was awesome! Super helpful! I also didn’t realize the steps had many breaks and levels between, so it was actually a fairly easy hike
