Meet your guide in central Florence, and hop aboard a minivan with your group that will transport you to the Tuscan hills. Once outside of the city, begin with a safety briefing and orientation to ensure that you feel comfortable riding before you hit the road. This small group tour is limited to 15 people to keep the experience as intimate as possible.
Then saddle up on your single- or double-seater Vespa and begin your ride along the scenic hillside, with stops for photo opportunities and the guided visit of two wineries. Your guide leads you to a castle for a relaxing lunch, including tastings of famous Chianti wines and fine olive oils, all locally produced.
After satisfying your taste buds, head back toward Florence, enjoying the fresh air and panoramic views before your Vespa tour concludes.

- If you want to book multiple vespas (each for sole use with just one rider), please put through single bookings
- A valid driving license is required (although you do not need a motorcycle license), make sure you have it with you on the tour, and you must be at least 18 years of age to drive, at least 13 years to be a passenger
- Previous experience is not required but advantageous and highly advised. The tour operator reserves the right of final judgement in client participation of actual scooter driving or in client being a passenger, or to discontinue scooter use at any point of the tour. Any participant unable to drive scooters safely may ride double with a partner, or on the guide’s scooter if available or continue the tour on board one of our support vehicles (the Tuscany Tuk Tuk or the minivan, depending which is available) if unable to be a safe passenger as well. No refund will be granted in this case. Our first and foremost concern is everyone's safety
- The Single Vespa and Double Vespa tour options entitle clients to ride the original Piaggio Vespas, but Piaggio Zip scooters (which are lighter and easier to ride) are also available (Smaller scooter option)
- A THIRD-PARTY insurance for CIVIL LIABILITY is INCLUDED in the price of the tour. As for any vehicle rental, please note that clients will be given two options to choose from, to cover vehicle damages (either one of these two IS MANDATORY in order to rent the Vespa): subscribe an additional insurance (€20,00 per vehicle, not refundable) or sign for a guarantee deposit of €500,00 on their credit card. NO CASH PAYMENT, ONLY CREDIT CARDS.
- Travelers are required to have a credit card.
- The maximum load the Vespa can tolerate is 170 kg / 374 lbs (whether one or two people, bags included). At check-in, Towns of Italy reserves the right to exclude participants from this tour if these requirements are not met. No refund will be due
- This tour option entitles client to ride the iconic original PIAGGIO VESPA or Electric VESPA, but PIAGGIO ZIP scooters (which are smaller) are also available (SMART OPTION)
- For the double Vespa two persons are required (1 driver & 1 passenger)
- RAIN POLICY: The tour runs rain or shine (but please see below). The tour departure will never be cancelled due to rain. We will do our best to proceed with the tour, avoiding the rain and thus possibly carrying out the tour with our minivan until and if the rain should stop and street conditions will guarantee a safe ride. If it does not stop raining, the entire tour will be conducted in the safety and comfort of the minivan. Guest options on rainy days: 1) Proceed with the tour hoping for clearing weather – PARTIAL RIDE or NO RIDE due to heavy RAIN Customers can decide to proceed with the tour hoping for clearing weather with the understanding that if scooters are not ridden at all due to rain, or if the Vespa tour is dramatically abbreviated due to rain, customers will NOT be granted any refund or discount. We will do our best to get you on a scooter, weather permitting. Please note that clients' safety and comfort are of utmost priority, and proper rain gear is mandatory for guests choosing to "ride in the rain". We ask clients to be at the meeting point 15 minutes before the tour departure, to check the weather conditions and choose accordingly. No-shows will not be refunded.
- To preserve the authentic open-air feel of your eco-friendly ride, our Topolino e-cars do not have traditional air conditioning. Two small fans are provided in each car to keep you comfortable while you enjoy the Tuscan breeze. Operative also in spring and autumn, our vehicles ensure the comfort of always traveling warm and dry, so you can fully enjoy the ride in every season.

This was a once in a lifetime experience. We had so much fun on the Vespa tour. Our guide, Ela, was everything that you can ask for. The entire staff was very helpful, knowledgeable, and a pleasure to be around. They made sure that everyone was comfortable on the Vespa's before we hit the road. We saw way more than I thought that we would. We highly recommend this tour.

This trip was incredibly well-organized, Yo and Chiara and Luciano are saints for taking non-locals on scooters around the countryside! Due to the understandable time restrictions of the day, the scooter lesson is quite short and you need to be able to decide quickly if you're comfortable with the driving — all of the staff were wonderful about providing equally fun alternatives to the Vespas if you didn't feel up to it (I ended up riding along with my partner but part of me wishes I'd taken a Topolino, they're so cool!) We felt very cared for throughout the day, including when our Vespa started to act up (the only one in the group that did) and a guide stayed with us to make sure things were ok and our scooter was switched out later on in the visit. This was a fun and unique way to experience a bit of the Chianti area and we're so glad we booked, it was absolutely a highlight of our trip. Thanks again to the team!

An unbelievable way to experience the countryside outside Florence on Vespas. The staff was attentive, provided detailed instructions on how to properly drive the Vespa and how we would navigate the roads. Sarah and Yo were great guides who shared a lot information about the area and also made us feel safe even as we sped down the countryside roads. Finishing the day off with a delicious lunch at the winery (in the air conditioning on a hot day) and then an informative wine and olive oil tasting. My adult children said best experience on trip. Van ride to and from Florence was in a nice large van. Perfect day experiencing Italy outside of the city.

We loved this experience for the Vespa tour! We got to ride it a lot longer than we had expected! Be warned - you will have to pass a driving test in order to drive! It’s not hard, but plan on someone being able to pass it! The Tuscan meal we had at a winery was delicious! I wish we could have tried more wines, but that’s a personal preference! It was a great day!

Best activity we booked while visiting Florence! We went 2 adults and 2 teens and had an absolute blast. The tour is SUPER complete, and worth every peny. The guides were friendly and the views food and drinks were are AMAZING! 100% Recommend!

This was probably my favorite tour during my trip. So much fun driving the fiat e-car. The tour guides ( Chiara and Yo) were amazing.
So fun and knowledgeable. Our lunch at the winery was delicious as were the wines. Beautiful scenery and great photo ops. I would highly recommend this tour for a fun day in Tuscany

We were late to this tour because our transfer driver was 40 minutes late picking is up from port. We arrived 20 minutes after the group departed.
I understand that the group couldn’t wait nor would I expect them to.
My hope was that another person would have been able to meet them at one of the spots to reconnect us with the group.
Us missing the tour was not their fault, but I wish they could have rescheduled us for the later time or had someone catch us up. I communicated to them early and often about what was going on with our pick up and drive.
The most disappointing thing is this was the experience I was looking forward to most.

At the same time, as this was a shared group tour, we do have to follow a very precise schedule and departure time, out of respect for all the other guests taking part in the experience. Unfortunately, the delay caused by your transfer from the port was beyond our control, and once the group had departed, it was not possible to arrange for someone else to reconnect you with the tour.
We are genuinely sorry that this situation, which was not caused by our team, led to such a disappointing experience and to a two-star review. Nevertheless, we appreciate you taking the time to write to us and share your thoughts.

Tour guides and driver were great. Scenery was beautiful, Food and wine were amazing. Read all the info they send. I unfortunately hadn’t needed my license for two weeks and only carried my passport so was not able to drive. I was able to take some amazing pictures.

Tomas was a great guide and had amazing energy. I appreciate that we had a Vespa driving test before we took it out on the roads. Both my husband and I struggled and we were able to switch to driving a topolino instead for no extra cost. I’m grateful for the flexibility! The lunch and wine tasting afterward was short but a fun time.

This was incredibly fun and driving through the countryside is amazing. If you have zero Vespa/motorcycle experience be aware you will be going 25 mph on roads with cars whizzing by. I didn’t mind but it wasn’t my partners favorite. If it sounds like you’ll be nervous you might struggle. If you’re excited to do it, it’ll be great.

Working out the logistics of the Vespa may take some time, but I promise that the entire tour is worth it no matter your outcome. By the time you get to the winery, everything is set up to replenish you, raise your spirits even higher, and ease into the afternoon with a full stomach and a full heart!

Our fault we arrived late but didn’t recognize the group immediately as our Viator group. No signs or any identification. By the time we realized it was our group the bus was pulling away. I would highly suggest some type of identifying signage

Cool riding Vespas in Tuscany, not an experience you have every day. It was nice stopping for the view of Tuscany, and having a dinner where we tried prosciutto with cantaloupe. The staff could have been more enthusiastic and happy to be with us. However the were very attentive on our training and safety throughout the day.

We got rained out the first day, so do this tour with a day or two to spare during your time in Florence. the operators saved the day for us. We booked the Vespa tour and our teen girls were extremely anxious to be passengers. It’s fairly easy to learn to ride after the training solo. With a passenger, it really scared me the hills and cars passing you. During the training, an 18 year old crashed and my girls flat out refused to be passengers. Thankfully, there was space and the operators lets us change to Topolinos. The girls were sooo happy and relieved. I am extremely grateful because it ended up being my favorite thing we did in Italy! My recommendation for families with no Vespa/motorcycle experience is book topolinos (tiny cars) with “Towns of Italy tours” from the start. For solo riders, we watched pretty nervous people become quick pros!!

Definitely a beautiful ride thru Tuscany! The crew was fantastic!! Being comfortable on a motorcycle or vespa is best but we had novices that did well also! The winery was so interesting and lunch was delicious!

We were conveniently picked up in town and driven to the Vespa rental place. The tour guide made sure everyone in the group was comfortable and tested out on the Vespas. We took a long drive though the countryside and spent time at a 1000 year old church on a hill. This was the perfect spot to capture photos safely of the bikes and the countryside. We made another stop in a small town for gelato before ending back at the Vespa rental place. Afterward, we took a short walk to a beautiful boutique hotel and winery where we sampled wines and enjoyed a lovely dinner with the group. Our tour manager regaled us with stories and fun music on the way back to town. Overall, I’m so glad we ended our stay in Florence with such a fun and typical Tuscan adventure! Highly recommend!!!

This was definitely the best thing we did in Italy. Everything was so well organized and safety was definitely their number one priority. But having fun and was definitely second. The tour guides were funny and friendly and driving a Vespa is maybe the coolest thing you can do. There was a lot of fun activities. Of course the ride was the best but we also had wine tasting and lunch and stopping for some beautiful scenery and an 11th century church. Highly recommend.

Meet up location was very easy to get to. transit bus was clean and roomy. Both tour guides VERY knowledgable about the Tuscan region. Felt very safe riding the along the winding roads. Stopping along the way and getting a glimpse of how they produce olive oil and wine was wonderful. The Tuscan lunch was the perfect ending to the day.

My boyfriend and I booked the Topolino for what ended up being a rainy November day. It also ended up being just us two, so Francesco alone led our tour and it was phenomenal, even in the rain! Francesco is so kind and engaging and showed us some really amazing spots but also left time for us to explore on our own! After dropping off our vehicles, we ended the tour with the wine & olive oil tasting (and bought some for home) and lunch was a delicious pasta and dessert pastry. All in all, the sights were gorgeous, the driving was fun, and the food was great. Cannot recommend enough!

I had an absolutely unforgettable experience taking a tour around the Chianti area. Even though I was unable to pass the exam to drive a Vespa and ended up driving a charming little Topolino car instead, the tour exceeded every expectation. The scenery in Tuscany is breathtaking, and exploring it in such a fun and unique way made the experience truly magical.
What made the tour so special was how much you get to learn about the area. Our guide shared fascinating stories about the history, culture, and traditions of Tuscany, which made every stop even more meaningful. We visited multiple picturesque towns, winding through scenic vineyards and olive groves, and had the chance to do wine and olive oil tastings, complete with tours of both production sites. We even explored a small authentic Italian town, which gave a real sense of local life and charm that you cannot experience from a car or bus.
Every moment of the tour was thoughtfully planned, and our guide ensured it was fun, safe, and effortless. This was by far the highlight of our trip and one of the most immersive experiences I have ever had in Italy. I cannot recommend this tour highly enough to anyone visiting the Tuscany region. Whether you ride a Vespa or drive one of the classic cars, it is an incredible way to see the heart of Chianti, taste the local flavors, and truly experience Tuscany.
