We would do this again. We beat the cruise ship crowds. Just be sure to meet up early otherwise others will have to wait for you and you’ll get caught in the crowds. Jordan was awesome professional outfit. Great family activity.

This was such an amazing experience!! Would 10/10 do again. Xander was our guide and was great!! We had a pretty active group and made the hike on no time which allowed us to spend a little extra time jumping and swimming.

Itinerary

Make the most of your time onshore in Puerto Plata with a group shore excursion to Damajagua Waterfalls, a series of 27 cascading falls. Relax with transfers, national park fees, bottled water, snacks, and rum punch included, plus a guaranteed full refund if your cruise ship cancels the port of call.

Once your ship docks in Amber Cove or Taino Bay, make your way to the meeting point outside the main gate of the cruise terminal for your narrated transfer through the countryside to the base camp for waterfalls.

After receiving your equipment and safety instructions, trek across a suspension bridge and streams before hiking approximately 30 minutes uphill through the tropical forest. Your return to base camp is by jumping and sliding down seven of the waterfalls, as well as swimming through canyons, alongside your dedicated jump coach and guide.

Afterwards, enjoy a festive return to the port complete with Merengue music and complimentary rum punch.

Thrilling and educational experience

This small group tour was an excellent way to visit one of the areas biggest attractions and learn some local culture along the way. The guide was super friendly and informative. The waterfalls themselves were very adventurous. I would not recommend if you do not like walking up and down hills/steps. However, if you're in a decent amount of shape it should be right for you.

This was a tour that I'm glad I took but would not need to do again. You need to be relatively fit to do the hike up the mountain. Going down the slides was fun but it is very crowded when there are a lot of ships in port. There were 4 ships in port when we went, so the Falls were super-busy and a lot of time was spent waiting to go down slides or jumping down. Note that we didn't see actual waterfalls, it was really sliding down slides. I believe the tour typically goes down 7 'falls', but we only did 5 due to the drought. Our group was 18 people but we had to join another group with the official Fall guides. We had a personal photographer with our group and you could buy the photos on a zip drive for $45. I did not bring that much in cash with me, or any credit cards. If you're a group of friends, its worth buying 1 and splitting the cost. Angel was a fun tour guide. We stopped after the Falls for some local snacks and Angel gave us some rum punch in the van.

It was a very fun and adventurous excursion. I would be aware that since the water level was low there were fewer areas to slide and jump. It still was very fun but something to be aware of. I really liked how our specific tour guide stayed with our group because it’s very chaotic and lots of groups of people. Our guide gave detailed instructions and I would definitely use them again.

Great experience! The tour was perfect. Pickup from the cruise port was easy. Transportation just as described. I travelled with my family of 6, 3 being under the age of 18. The hike was easily manageable and the guides stopped multiple times to allow those that needed it to rest. Slides and jumps were safe with guides to help all along the way. Woudl 100% recommend.

We had an INCREDIBLE experience! Our tour guides that picked us up from the Celebrity Cruise Ship were very helpful and entertaining as well as informative! They kept us on track with time but never felt rushed! Please read the description on Strenuous Activity. There was a younger child on this excursion that should not have been. Otherwise, this was a great excursion with my husband and 22 y/o daughter! The Waterfall slides and jump were exciting! The guides were professional and maintained control, feeling secure at all times. (It began to rain and some parts could have been slippery if not paying attention and reminders from the guides). All the staff working this site were polite and friendly. It was a wonderful experience! And a small local market area that had great prices!

This was a wonderful excursion for my family of four. My kids, 13 and 16, had a blast and were thrilled to have the option to jump rather than just slide. 4 waterfalls were available, we slid down 3 and jumped one. Puerta Plata Adventures took great care of us, from ensuring we knew how to find them just outside the cruise center, getting us to the park with a DR overview in the way, and run punch and merengue on the way back. Tony, Antony, and Ernesto were great fun! Book this one for your DR stop- you will not regret it!

It was a lot of fun, lots of walking which was expected. We went on 4 slides and one cliff or platform jump. Water was cool but refreshing. A bit confusing as multiple groups blended and different direction from different guides. Overall fun experience

Best experience on a tour! Got there, hike was about 40 minutes to the waterfalls, but we had plenty of water and stops to rest. Cold water, but worth it after the hike. So much encouragement to jump and slide down the waterfall. Getting out of your comfort zone for this one is a must. Not to mention the samples of Mama Juana and lots of Rum Punch at the end! What a party on the bus afterwards! Props to our tour guides. 🎉

The tour guides are amazing! Very friendly and accommodating to any needs you may have. The hike is a a variety of flat areas, stairs (lots) and inclines. You don’t have to be physically fit but definitely be prepared to sweat and be winded. I wore shoes which were ok but I’d suggest a good pair with a hard sole. There were lots of rocks on the trails and in the waterfalls. I highly recommend this excursion and company!

This was an amazing excursion! The guys who took us on the hike and down the falls were outstanding. The drivers of the shuttle were amazing as well. My fiance, daughter, and I chose this experience and could not be happier about it! We paid $20 less a person than Carnival offered, the transportation was quick, and we even got local bananas and rum punch! Our second port day was Amber Cove, Dominican Republic. I chose to do an adventurous excursion with my family and after reading through lots of options, my choice was the Original Damajagua Waterfalls Adventure Amber Cove & Taino Bay. And, this excursion did not disappoint!! I followed the directions to the “T” and was able to find the company right outside of the port gates. However, I will say you do have to walk a little ways to find them. Walk past the parking area which I think are taxis and they are actually in a van parked on the side of road. There will be signs that different companies are holding up to locate others so just know the title of the company……Puerto Plato Adventures. Now on to JORDAN. What an Amazing young man and just so knowledgeable about the island!! He was with us the entire time and we never felt unsafe. On the ride there, he explained what we would be doing on the excursion and explained so much about the local living style. He was very personable on the excursion talking with all four of the family members. Jordan as the jump coach definitely made the experience so special. He even offered each time to assist with helping across the streams and rocks as well as the jumps. I am old enough to be his mom but he taught me so much as a young adult about mangos, sweet potatoes, mahogany trees, poison ivy, and even aloe on the island. I will forever be grateful for this awesome experience and for Jordan. God Bless You, Jordan!!

Involves a 40 minute hike to the top of the 7th waterfall and then sliding and jumping back down a series of waterfalls in the Dominican jungle. Staff is great about watching and making sure everyone is safe. Not for the faint of heart as the waterfalls/slides are quick moving. Great experience!

4/5 stars as we unfortunately did not get to do the scheduled waterfalls excursion due to weather. HOWEVER, what we did end up doing was a whole lot of fun! Xander toured us around the main area of Puerto Plata, a few other sites, and then we spent some time on the beach in a fairly private area. Amazing rum punch and other alcohol was provided. I do wish we had been notified of the change prior to literally walking up to the transportation outside the cruise port, but the day turned out great regardless.
