I travel a lot and have had a mix of experiences when it comes to tours, but truly this tour was fantastic! The national park was definitely crowded so be prepared for that, but sliding downtown the waterfalls was such a unique experience…and it was beautiful. I read reviews about the strenuous hike, and while my family hikes a lot, I found it to be no more than a moderate hike. The guides give MANY stops for people to rest so it does not feel overwhelming at all. Our guides Fernando and Werbe were awesome. At the end of the waterfall, the Dominican lunch was served at a local restaurant and was delicious. My son and I are gluten free and my daughter is vegetarian, and all was able to be accommodated for our diet. Everyone tore up lunch! You will not leave hungry. Next was a cigar rolling demonstration, including being able to pick and smoke a cigar if desired. Cigars were available for purchase. There was rum to try and purchase, as well as coffee and chocolate. The shop had some very unique souvenirs. The prices were more affordable than what you would find at the port. I’ve never been on a tour that included so much for an extremely affordable price. I would 100% recommend this tour. We had a small issue with not being able to do the zip lines because of the timing and the crowds, but the company notified me immediately and wanted to make sure I was happy with only doing the waterfalls. After all was said and done, I really don’t know that I missed the zip lining at all. Anyway, They refunded me immediately for the difference and were just overall amazing to work with. I appreciated their integrity. Their communication was fantastic prior to arrival and instructions very clear. Both our guides were super hospitable and fun to talk to. They also provided some great information about the island and it’s history, culture, and agriculture! Really, don’t miss this adventure!

A great day at Damajagua Falls and zip lining. Our driver Fernando and “Paparazzi Chocolatte” were excellent hosts. Pickup at Taino Bay cruise port was easy but be aware that it is about a 15 min walk from the ship to the Gate 5 pickup area. A 30 min drive in a well appointed and cool van led us to the Damajagua park. We were soon outfitted with life jacket, harness, helmet and water and we were on our way.
The hike up to the Zip Line area is strenuous in places. There are built in break spots and the group travels at a moderate pace. Zip Lines were fun and fast, and the suspension bridges were cool.
But the best part of the excursion is the Falls. The rock slides are short but quick, the water refreshing and cool. Lots of cheering on for the timid in the group and everyone ended up having a great time.
A 15-20 min walk back to the entrance drops you at the restaurant where a nice Dominican lunch is served. Fresh hot food and good flavors of the local culture.
39 mins later back on the bus toward the port, you stop at a small plantation where we got schooled on several Dominican facts about the wildlife, plants, animals, and coffee, cocoa, and tobacco farming. We got a demo of fresh cigar rolling, a taste of wonderful Dominican coffee (hand harvested, dried, ground and brewed on site), and a couple shots of Mamajuana, the local spirit made from herb root, honey, rhum and red wine. We also learned about Larimar, the local stone from which beautiful jewelry is made (and sold on site). A couple hundred bucks later and we were well equipped with Hemingway cigars, jewelry, and some mamajuana.
Another 20 mins and we were dropped back at the port. About a 5 hour total excursion, it was well worth the price and we’d recommend it to anyone enjoying adventure, agriculture, and local Dominican food and culture.

Experience requires hike to zip lines and water falls but is well worth it! Our guides were Elvis and Jonathan was our paparazzi! They were fun and the photos were phenomenal. Highly recommend!!

Wanted to give an honest review of my experience and things I wish I would have known:
1. From cruise port was about a 20 minute walk - people are helpful along the way to make sure you are headed in the correct direction - it was basically a spot on side of highway where they were allowed to pick up (but it was safe)
2. Van with 2 tour guides was very good - nice and cool and bottle of water given upon arrival
3. Once you get to the location to do excursion you will leave all belongings in the van (they were safe) but really you are encouraged to not take anything with you! Our money and everything was safe. You get helmet and life jacket there and are able to use the restroom real quick
4. Water shoes - I would suggest good hiking water shoes - not the cheap ones - so thankful I saw this on a post and got newer ones with support! the hike is rocky and unsteady a
5. The hike! I was a little taken back by the hike - it wasn't just a hike it was A LOT (like around 20'ish) flights of stairs. I was not prepared for this and am currently out of shape to be honest - so this was more challenging for me. I made it but a few things: Be sure to hydrate prior to this excursion (this would have helped me) and I didn't eat much for breakfast and that didn't help either > Thankfully it was shaded so the blazing sun was not on us - which was good!. The guides are VERY understanding and helpful. At one point I felt like was going to throw up and the guide pulled off a tree branch and was fanning me! It was very nice and helpful - I ended up being fine -
4. zip lines - safe and good -
5. Waterfalls- the slides for waterfalls you MUST do (all except one) I mean you have to do them , there is not an option to bypass this -but it was totally worth it and better than I expected! The last waterfall was one you had to jump in or could take the stairs down, but this was the only one you had that option
6. Lunch - our group felt lunch was ok - none of us were crazy about our meal that day
7. Plantation stop on the way back was informing and we weren't there very long - little shop and restrooms there if you need to buy something or use restroom.
**You can pay $100 (they took Credit Card) to purchase a guide to take pics of your group through the excursion and they give you a flash drive with everything on it- and we chose to do that! I feel like this is well worth the money.

Our experience was amazing. Driver and tour guide picked us up right on time in the designated place. The tour guide, Daniella spoke great English and was a delight.
Our guide, Justin, at the zip lines and waterfalls was also really great!

Ah-mazing. Highly recommend. When you get off the ship, it’s a very long walk to the bus. You have to walk out of the port area to the main road. Daniella, Jonathan, and everyone else are wonderful. I’m almost 60 and overweight. If I can do this YOU can. It’s so much fun and you’ll make great memories. Lunch is yummy and you go to a different site for the tastings. We had plenty of time for shopping when we returned. Have fun. This is a must do excursion and much cheaper than the ship excursions.

This excursion was extremely difficult even for the fitness guru. The videos and descriptions do not show or tell the whole story. Be very sure you have the right shoes and can sustain the hike.
Savya_T, Jun 2026
This zip-lining and waterfall hike experience was absolutely worth it. The waterfall slides were the highlight — so much fun and such a unique experience. The guides were amazing from start to finish: professional, energetic, and made everyone feel safe while still keeping the adventure exciting.
Transportation was very accessible and organized, which made everything stress-free. One thing I really appreciated was how mindful they were about cruise ship schedules. They got us back in plenty of time before sailing, so we could enjoy the excursion without worrying about missing the ship.
If you want adventure, beautiful scenery, and a smooth experience all around, I highly recommend this excursion.
Craig_K, Jun 2026
Driver William was fantastic and gave us great instructions from start to finish. Once at the Zip line/waterfall destination he handed us off to the tour guides seamlessly and we were on our way for an incredible experience. The tour ran longer than the stated 3-4 hours but we got back to the ship with plenty of time to spare. Had a great included lunch and a stop at a local goods store for chocolate, jewelry, Mamajuana and cigars. Viator has always been our go to when we travel and will continue to use them always. Saved about 40% from the ship tour cost!!

Thank You Prime Tours!
Loved every minute of the waterfall adventure at Amber Cove!
William and Becksy were extremely helpful, guiding and supporting us throughout. Highly recommend the Prime Tours team — and a great way to support local guides too. Thank you all!
Justin_W, May 2026
We had amazing tour guides, both Danielle and William we amazing there and back. For the zip line and waterfall tour ask for Carlos and Brayan. Both were hilarious and made the kids feel totally confident the whole time. I was traveling with a 11 and 8 year old and they got them to jump off the waterfall! Highly suggest this excursion over the cruise option. We had AC van, food and multiple cultural stops. The cruise option had an open top safari style truck without AC and no food option for more money… Go this route if you have the option.
Madison_W, May 2026
Amazing excursion that is well worth the price! My family had lots of fun and got plenty of souvenirs as well. There is a long hike at the beginning to get to zip lines/waterfalls so I would recommend being able to handle longer walks uphill. Additionally, the water can get decently deep but lifejackets are provided. 10/10 excursion.
Pamela_C, May 2026
Our driver Luis, photographer chocolate and the coordinator William were awesome answered all questions and were very informative. It is about a 45min hike uphill, you will be sweating! Once you get to the top and come down the zip lines you will have so much fun! The waterfalls were beautiful!! Amazing excursion 100/10 recommend!
Angel_Z, Apr 2026
everyone was extremely nice and welcoming. Food was amazing & pictures are taken aswell. zip lines are a plus & water was amazing
Sara_M, Apr 2026
I would highly recommend this excursion!! Our tour guide Daniella, driver Marteen, and paparazzi/photographer Chocolata were the best!! They were friendly, knowledgeable and professional!! We booked this excursion with another family and we're the only ones in our tour group! Chocolata took great pictures of us the whole experience! While on the hike up to the zip lines he informed us all about the types of trees, land around the area and all about the Dominican culture. He was so funny cracking jokes along the way! He fully immersed himself in the experience with us while ziplining and sliding down the rocky waterfalls. He stopped us along the way to capture these priceless memories with photos of the families and friends. After the ziplining and waterfalls, we took a tour though the countryside to visit a real plantation where they shared more of their culture, coffee, rum, chocolate, cigars with samples! We would highly recommend tbis tour! Family friendly and for all ages!
Aimee_F, Apr 2026
What a fun filled adventure! Lots of zip lines and waterfalls, with a personal guide, and a free lunch! We had a great time and felt truly immersed in the nature surrounding us. The only few things to note are that you absolutely must bring your own water shoes or sneakers and it is a rather strenuous very steep hike for at least 30-40 minutes so you really need to be quite active and fit, would not recommend for those who are not used to that activity level. While our tour got lucky and was a very small group, there are many tours together with groups as large as 30-40 plus people so when you finally get to the waterfalls in particular it can be very backed up and crowded. Our tour guide did take a large number of pictures for us, but then wanted to charge us $75 for them. Would have appreciated it more if this was negotiable or included or disclosed of at the beginning and not the end. But overall had a wonderful experience and would definitely recommend Tami and Jonathan for any future tours.
Heather_H, Apr 2026
We expected a smaller tour group, but were unfortunately added to a group of about 80. The lines were ridiculously long for the zip lines and the waterfalls, and they pushed so many people through it felt unsafe. What was supposed to be a couple hours took us six hours, and we did not have enough time for the plantation visit. We arrived back at our drop off with about 4 minutes to run to our ship (the pier was a minimum of a 10 minute walk). Had this been as advertised, with a small group, and all the promised events, it likely would have been a 4-5 star. But as it was, it felt like hours of waiting for a few moments of fun, and the added stress of almost missing our ship. If they knew the location was going to be overbooked, I would have preferred an opportunity to decide if we still wanted to do it or cancel for a refund.
Andrea_O, Apr 2026
We had so much fun and our team was amazing. They definitely are well organized and know how to navigate the experience from pick-up to drop off. Our guides made it a fun day and I am so happy we booked through them vs the cruise. It was much more enjoyable than a large group. It felt like a personal experience. I recommend this experience 100%.
Lindsay_G, Mar 2026
This was the most incredible day! What an adventure. Tami was the best friendliest driver. Luis was the most wonderful paparazzi who adventured with us to get the most amazing photographs. William was so helpful and accommodating. Followed by a delicious Domenican buffet. It was truly a magical day we will never forget
Kim_G, Mar 2026
William, Carmen, Francis, Anderson and Angelo were awesome!!! What an awesome adventure. Picked up in an AC car and driven to zip lines with waterfalls and ending at a plantation where you can visit the squirrel monkeys and native plants. It was EPIC! Thank you
Scott_C, Mar 2026
Perfect way to experience the natural beauty of DR and get some steps in. William made sure we knew exactly how to find him before we even left the cruise ship. He made sure we were on schedule and safely drove us to our stops along the way. Daniella was a fantastic young tour guide who engaged with all of us, answered questions, and helped us get situated at every stop. Her love for her culture shines through. Couldn’t ask for a better guide. Jonathan “Paparazzi” provided excellent dedicated photography services for our small group since we couldn’t take cameras into the waterfalls and swim areas. His photo and video package at the end was well worth the reasonable cost. The zip line and waterfall parts were phenomenal thanks to Tony and Brian and the whole staff. They looked out for our safety but also made sure my family and friends had the time of our lives. Lots of laughter and good times. The climb up the mountain was just enough to get the heart pumping and warm up. The zip lines were exhilarating. Sliding down and jumping from waterfalls down into the gorge was unforgettable. Take this tour if you get the chance. Our final stop was a plantation with homegrown tobacco, cocoa, and coffee among other crops. Super wonderful people and nice selection of goods available for purchase. So happy we could support locals vs the cruise terminal.
Michael_H, Mar 2026
This was an absolutely wonderful excursion! You will have to walk completely outside of the cruise port to meet your tour guide. Our tour guide was Werbe and Tammie. It was just the two of us so the tour was very personal. The vehicle was clean and comfortable and they were very knowledgeable and friendly. We got to the location and Tammie made sure all of our belongings were safe. We met up with our other guides and we joined a group of about 20 people and then we were off. It is important that you know that there will be at least two other guides so bring enough tip money. I ran a bit low on tip money and did not have enough to make everything even, but I made it work. The hike to the falls and zip line is mostly on an upward incline and it takes about 40-45 minutes. So this is an excursion for people that are at least moderately fit. We did zip line first. Tremendous fun and very safe. The guides cover the safety with you. Next we did the falls. The water cutting through the rocks was gorgeous. There is walking, slides and a platform to jump off. Even if you cannot swim the guides will assist you through the water way. Make sure you bring your water shoes and leave anything you don't want to get wet or drop on the zip line in the car. Werbe my guide took over a 100 pics and some action videos, so all we had to do is enjoy the time on the excursion. The cost of the pics and video are well worth the price to capture the memories of the experience. Next we had a great lunch, buffet style local food. Next we went to a shop. We like the presentation and purchased chocolate and coffee. We felt no pressure. If you are a cigar smoker you would really enjoy the selection. We do not smoke but we love coffee. Next we met up with Tammie and was taken back to the cruise port with plenty of time. I highly recommend this excursion Marino and the other guide at the falls were great and Tammie and Werbe were excellent guides. You will not be disappointed.

This was really fun, beautiful scenery. Recommended to go in the afternoon for less crowding. Our driver William was nice and helpful. Alvaro was a good guide and the "paparazzi" took good photos. The lunch provided was yummy!
Carol_G, Mar 2026
Daniella Valentino and Charly were great tour guides! Very helpful and informative, made the day so much fun!
Richard_C, Feb 2026
JB (our paparazi) was an AWESOME, photographer and tour guide, we could not have had a better experience! Tiffany / Tami was an amazing driver, navigating us through the port and countryside, and making sure we were always taken care of, and in a clean car!
DR. Prime tours was an overall amazing experience, we loved it all!!
Andre_L, Feb 2026
Be prepared to walk a lot getting to the different zip lines and the waterfall slides. Most everyone is wearing water shoes. I would suggest putting some soft insole (Dr Scholl gels) in your shoes before this trip as walking on rocks a lot is a bit painful on your feet
Thomas_M, Feb 2026
Great trip. Private car to Falls. Avoided crowded cruise buses. Had private photographer for extra fee. Zipline was fun. I would highly recommend.
Nathan_H, Feb 2026
I would definitely book this trip again! The hike up the hill was a little more challenging for my 65y mother in law but she made it. You are going to get 100% wet on the way down you can skip some of the bigger slides/jumps but not the smaller first ones that will get you completely submerged in the water. Overall the trip was great!
Cher_K, Feb 2026
This was hands-down one of the best days of our trip to the Dominican Republic! We booked this zip lining and waterfall adventure, and it exceeded every expectation.
From the moment we were picked up, the kindness of the hosts shone through. They provided a clean, comfortable van, and our group was small and intimate—just the four of us plus two others—which made everything feel personal and relaxed. Because of the smaller size, we breezed past all the larger tours without any waiting at the slides or platforms. It was such a smooth, stress-free experience.
The jungle itself was breathtakingly beautiful, lush and vibrant in every direction. Seeing it from the air while zip lining was truly magical—gliding high above the canopy felt like flying through a postcard.
The adventure part was pure fun and adrenaline: jumping off platforms into refreshing pools, sliding down natural rock waterslides, and splashing into roaring pools. It was priceless and exhilarating, with just the right mix of thrill and natural beauty.
After all that excitement, they took us to a private, gorgeous buffet lunch that hit the spot perfectly—fresh, delicious, and in such a serene setting.
But the day didn’t end there! As an added bonus, we got to learn how to make authentic Dominican cigars, harvest cocoa beans, and experience the coffee process firsthand. It was fascinating, interactive, and the perfect cultural cherry on top.
If you’re visiting the Dominican Republic, do yourself a favor and book with these amazing people—you won’t regret it. This tour turned an ordinary day into an unforgettable adventure filled with kindness, beauty, and joy. Highly recommend—10/10!
Josh_C, Feb 2026
This was WAY better than I could have hoped for. We opted for this tour instead of the tours offered by our cruise line. We ended up in a group of six (us + a family of four). It really felt like a private tour. The guides were helpful and answered any questions we had about the island. The best part was that our guide, Piro, walked us ahead of all the large groups. It felt like we had a fast pass. The waterfalls were beautiful and the ziplines were so much fun. I’d recommend this to anyone feeling adventurous.
Jordan_S, Feb 2026
“Chocolate” (Cool photographer and guide) and William (Forgave us for being seven minutes late. Thank you) treated us like family throughout our jungle experience in the Damajagua National Park which included cruising down seven zip lines, sliding down three waterfalls and exploring the jungle while it rained. Chocolate was affable, knowledgeable, friendly and fun during the adventure. They both made sure we experienced all that was to be explored on this tour including dining with the locals at their favorite eatery (Delicious local food🤤) and stopping off at local shop which produces the best chocolate, coffee and cigars. Special treatment indeed. 😉
Thank you both and Daniela for a memorable experience!! We will recommend you to others and if we should return, will look for your Dr. Prime Tours again.
Have a blessed day and beyond!🤩
