We had a great time seeing the sights. Xander was awesome and Larique got us around safely and we were very well taken care of at the beach we spent time at. Sorry I can't remember his name said we could call him (sexy :) ) can't say enough about how friendly and professional they all were.

Alex was great, very friendly, took us to reasonably priced souvenier shops, and customized the tour to our preferences

You must walk outside security gate then another 200 yds. to meet the Viator tour group. The total walk time is about 15 min. The walk was well worth it: we had a tour guide for the three of us while similar Carnival cruise was packed with 50 people.

Great tour through the city with a beautiful beach stop. Rosie was a wonderful guide and her helper and driver did a fantastic job. We felt safe touring with them and they did a great job keeping the time and getting us back to the port in plenty of time. We spent just enough time at each spot in the city. The van was nice and air conditioned and they also provided us with cold water. The restaurant at the beach had great food. A little pricier, but it is at a resort so we expected that. It was a beautiful beach and not over crowded since it was at a resort. Would definitely recommend this tour.

Great Way to See Puerto Plata and Enjoy the Beach

Only downside was, because the Cruise Company owns Amber Cove, you have to walk outside the gates to get to non-cruise tours. It is almost half a mile, but great on a nice morning to walk off the cruise food. Xander was an energetic and informative guide. First stop was downtown at the main square. We visited the church, walked down the avenue of flags, saw the umbrella street and Pink street and other shops, with time for some shopping and hot chocolate sample. Although we don't drink, there were rum samples too for those who partake. You do need to be able to walk without assistance. We were downtown about an hour and then spent pleasant two hours at beautiful Dorado Beach - loungers provided. On the way back to the ship Xander hosted a party with music, local bananas, rum samples and slightly laced fruit punch for those who were interested.

We had the unique experience of visiting the Dominican Republic as they were celebrating their independence day. There was a lot going on but our guide, WInston, made sure we were able to see the highlights of the city. We then went to Playa Dorado Beach and Leury, another guide, stayed with us while we were at the beach to make sure we had everything we needed and to answer any questions. The beach was beautiful and we had lounge chairs, umbrellas, restrooms, and restaurants all available. The time at the beach went by quickly because it was so lovely. We were delivered back to our cruise ship right on time. It was a great way to see the highlights of the city and enjoy some pleasant beach time too.

Great crew and very professional. They were informative and gave us a chance to do some things on our own. Instructions given to find them at the port were clear. We were back in plenty of time to reboard our boat. Would definitely book this tour company again!

Wow wow wow! Alex and Rosie made our day SO special and fantastic! It was my FIL’s 70th birthday and they treated him like a king! Not to mention all of the fun activities (walking tour of town, beach club, drinks, etc etc). The day was incredible! We have traveled all over the world and they were the best tour guides we’ve ever worked with! Thanks so much for a fantastic day!!!

Wonderful tour of Puerto Plata

Once we were clear to get off the ship we followed the wonderful instructions on how to find the meeting point outside the cruise port. They provided a photo with arrows showing how to walk to the meeting point as well as written instructions. It is quite a walk but was fairly level and we found it easily. Once we got checked in we met our tour guide Alex, assistant Anthony, and driver Daniel. The mini bus was very comfortable and they explained what we would be doing on the tour. We visited the town Puerto Plata and went to the Golden Beach area for a couple of hours. The beach had quite a few day beds and loungers and we enjoyed some drinks before heading back to the cruise port. On the way back they provided us rum punch and some freshly picked bananas. Alex, who spoke very good English, provided us with lots of information about his country and was very proud of it. We would highly recommend the tour if visiting Amber Cove.

Winston is the best!!!

This was our first time here in the DR. My wife and I came to the DR on the Carnival Celebration. I have used Viator in the past and was very pleased with their reputation. We did have to walk quite a distance to get to the van, however, we needed it, (all the cruise ship food). Winston was our tour guide. Wow! He is a wealth of history and information. He is very nice, easy-going, and funny! Anyone coming to the Dominican Republic should take this tour! Don't forget to ask for Winston!!

It was so interesting to learn how Dominicans live. Jordan was very knowledgeable and personable. We ended up with a private tour because a second couple never showed. The beach was beautiful and not crowded at all, and this excursion included chairs and an umbrella. Jordan's homemade rum punch was tasty, too! Robinson did a terrific job driving us around.

The perfect tour!

We had a great time on this tour! We received perfect instructions on how to navigate to the tour outside of the cruise terminal. It is a little bit of a walk, so be sure you are waiting to get off the ship first! We were taken to the town of Puerto Plata where we had a short walking tour and learned the history of the city. We were able to stop in some shops where we were offered to try Mamajuana and learned the history of Larimar. We also stopped at a cafe where we were able to try hot chocolate and coffee; it was the best I’ve had! We also saw Pink St and Umbrella St. Our tour guide then stopped us by an overlook, and then we headed to Playa Dorada for two hours. Free water was offered along the entire tour. On the way back, they gave us rum punch, and our tour guide even stopped and picked us up some fresh, ripe bananas! Overall a 10/10 experience. Perfect for families. Can’t wait to come back!

The city tour was nice. Umbrella street was so pretty. Loved all the people in their colorful outfits throughout the town. The beach resort was wonderful! Chairs were so comfy and loved having an umbrella. Tour guides were very nice.

This Excursion was definitely a wonderful experience. Xander was very knowledgeable and accommodating. Only challenging thing was the walk to the meeting spot but I wouldn't hold it against them as the cruise lines have monopolized who can come into the port to pick up passengers. We were a family of 5 and definitely enjoyed every bit of the excursion.

We enjoyed our Puerto Plata Adventure Tours. I love that it is in a smaller van so we have just the right amount of people in our group. The city is beautiful. Our trip there was timed right so that we can spend more time in the Blue Tar Beach which was beautiful. I highly recommend this tour!

We stopped here on a cruise and the tour was the perfect way to spend the time here. We explored the town, had chance to buy coffee for souvenirs to bring home and spent time at a nice beach to relax. I enjoyed the small group. The vans were very nice and clean. Puerta Plata...long walk to pickup but nice tour

Pretty long walk getting to pickup. They allowed us to change from beach time experience to ride to top of mountain. No added expense for them, but charged us additional $30 each seemed very excessive. Host Alex was very good.

Thank you for your review! We are pleased you decided to experience the highest point on our northern coast (3000 feet) and that you enjoyed your time with your host, Alex. Regarding the tour change cost, the additional expense is the exact difference between the posted rates is what we charge. The added expense for us is significant. The transportation cost ascending to the highest point on the Dominican Republic's north coast - Mount Isabella de Torres (and that is saying something as the Dom. Rep. is mountainous - we even have the highest point in the entire Caribbean - Pico Duarte). Also, the mountain summit is a National Monument and we are charged for every guest who visits. Additionally, the guide association rate varies and increases depending upon the experience. I hope that this information helps with understanding the cost differences between our experiences! Great tour of Puerto Plata !

I love Viator I found out about it from reading a review that said Viator had the most choices and was much cheaper than the ship excursions. So I've been taking Viator ever since, but I will say they are very hard to find but when you do find them it's always a great experience please make it easier for us to find you guys at Viator. Alex was our tour guide and he was wonderful. If I'm going to visit an island I want to know all about it and Alex took us everywhere the Dominican Republic Puerto playa was beautiful and then we went to the beach for 2 hours and it was so nice and secluded and quiet the whole experience was very lovely.

Worth every penny.

Great shore excursion!

This was a great shore excursion that showed us all the history and architecture of the island. Winston was a wonderful tour guide giving us the history and culture of his country. The van was clean and enjoyable for our small group to travel between locations. The gorgeous private resort offered an unexpected ending on a pristine beach. AWESOME shore excursion!
