Glen the owner and his son Sander were the best hosts. They arranged a private transport from the cruise port to their facility. My son got to roll his own cigar at their facility. The cigars are blended nicely with premium tobacco and they were consistent throughout the entire smoke. A small boutique cigar maker but definitely worth visiting. Highly recommend.

Magnificent Cigar experience!!! Very nice cigar lounge downstairs with walk in humidor and cigar production upstairs. The tour took about 30 minutes and we got to roll our own cigars. Highly recommended!!

We pickup from all locations in Puerto Plata Province, including Sosua and Cabarete. Our transportation rates are usually half the cost of rates offered by local taxis who also want to divert you to receive commission from other vendors.

If you take a taxi to the store, the visit is free. The ride provided meant we had to walk about 3/4 of a mile to get to the driver. Taxis are closer.

If you are into the world of cigars or just a little bit curious, this is a good experience. It’s close to port and reasonably priced. The people at Vivonte are very friendly and welcoming. We were treated very well and made to feel at home. Immediately greeted with smiles and wine and beer. Complimentary cigars to enjoy while being escorted through the boutique cigar manufacturing facility. We even got to have a little hands on experience making cigars. Our guide Vayron was knowledgeable and kind. In all, it was a great experience and I would happily take friends and family there again.

Beware! Swindled by the driver to/ from excursion

The cigar factory tour was great. The driver to and from the excursion was a nice guy and very informative but when he dropped us at our hotel and the end of the tour he said we owed him $110 usd for the transportation. The transportation was included with the price of the tour. My husband paid him but we both thought this was very deceiving as nothing was mentioned about the travel cost. The Viator app advertised that cigar tour was for Cabarete and in fact it was in Peurto Plata. The driver was over an hour late because he when to the wrong hotel and had to drive to Cabarete in rush hour traffic. Again at this point nothing was mentioned about the price of travel and I offered to change to another day and he said it was fine. When we got to the cigar factory, only the manager was there so we got a very short tour cut in half. It was 7 o clock at night and we offered to buy the driver the dinner because it was so late. Of course he accepted a free dinner as well.

Was interesting, nice to see how they make them however I felt I was asking many of the questions and didn’t feel compared to other tours it was as informative. Your guide was friendly however. Not worth the money. Plus you can go next door in another factory and see it for free!

Great way to spend a day on Puerto Plata DR

What a great day. The communication from Austin was great. Then add in Carlos (our driver) was clear, easy. Our tour was very knowledgeable. We were able to roll our own cigar. Learned a lot! Hanging out afterwards with a cigar and a cocktail just made it all a great day. We took our driver Carlos out for coffee afterwards. Just do it! Get to know the locals as well. THANKS for a very memorable day!!!!

If you like cigars or want to buy cigars as a gift for someone who does, then this is the place to come. We had a factory tour and the owner, Austin passionately explained the whole process from beginning to end to us. He took two hours out of his day to spend with us and make sure we were happy. The cigars are the best I’ve tried (better than most of the well known Cubans out there). They have a range to suit most tastes and they are all hand rolled with meticulous attention to detail. Would recommend to anyone. Thank you for an amazing experience Austin!

I wish I could comment on the actual cigar factory tour, but thanks to this company’s complete lack of communication, my mom and I never even made it there. From the beginning, getting answers about transportation was like shouting into an empty room they simply stopped responding when we needed the most basic information about pickup time and location. We were left waiting, confused, and totally stranded because they ghosted us right when we were trying to confirm how to get to the tour. Nothing, no updates, no messages just radio silence. For an excursion company, you’d think reliable communication would be the bare minimum. This was supposed to be a special experience for my mom and me, and instead it turned into a frustrating waste of our time. Based on my experience, I absolutely do not recommend booking with them. There are plenty of companies in the Caribbean that actually care about their customers—this is not one of them.

Must Do Cigar Factory Tour!

We recently went on a cruise that stopped in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic—on the very day of our 25th wedding anniversary! Knowing how much my husband loves his cigars, I decided to book this tour, and let me tell you—we had the BEST time! Glen and his son are truly wonderful people. We ended up sitting and chatting with them for quite a while as we enjoyed some amazing cigars. Glen arranged a personal driver for us, and his son even walked us to a local restaurant so we could enjoy some authentic Dominican food before we left—he knew I was on a mission for some local flavor! We’re already hoping to fly back to the area just to visit them again. That’s how much we loved our experience!

Glen was a great host! The mamajuana shots were delicious. their coffee as well was spectacular! The cigars were so smooth and very high quality! Our tour guide, unfortunately I forgot his name, was so knowledgeable and taught us very great tips about cigars ! He recommended nothing but the best and they definitely were the best selections. Rolling our own cigar was also a neat experience! I will definitely visit again as it all felt very welcoming. Thank you !

Very friendly welcome, although we were a bit late. Guided tour of the cigar production in the house was very impressive. We were allowed to wrap our own cigar and learn a lot about the seeds, fermentation, storage of the leaves and subsequent production. Everyone received their own cigar. Highly recommended.

My husband and I had such a wonderful time at Vivonte Cigar. Glen, the owner, spent several hours chatting sharing stories. It felt like meeting a friend. I really enjoyed the tour of his factory and even rolled a cigar! His hospitality along with his staff is top notch! Immediately upon arrival we were provided with amazing cigars suited to our own preference and severed amazing Dominican coffee. Try the Canadian whiskey, Dominican coffee, and mamajuana! His cigars are extremely high quality and the prices are very reasonable. One tip, bring cash to purchase the cigars that way you can avoid the high taxes on credit card purchases in the Dominican Republic. Also, arrange travel through Glen. Taxis in the DR can be very expensive and not the most reliable to take you where you want to go. Glen contracts out with a gentleman named Miguel. He was prompt, reasonable, and reliable.

My wife and I had a great time. At first we discussed the type of cigars I liked. I like a full bodied to madero smoke. After some discussion we lit one up and started the tour. The best part was watching my wife being shown how to roll cigars. She did pretty good job and even though she does not smoke she enjoyed the experience. I would recommend this tour to any one. We finished our cigars and got a taxi ride back to the ship. I should mention as part of the tour the taxi ride to and from the ship was included The driver also made a couple of short stops on the way back to the ship. We found this cigar factory tour on the Viator website in Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic. I really wanted to take my husband on the tour as he is a cigar enthusiast. Vivonte Cigars provided an exceptional tour experience. We had a very nice driver Jonathan pick us up from the port and took us to the factory. We were greeted by employees and offered delicious fresh brewed delicious coffee. Glenn the owner met us and started us off with our own cigar! Glenn was very friendly and knowledgeable about the cigar industry. He shared with us the history on the plantations, seed origins, process of drying, blending, aging, storing, the humidor room and the rolling room. This was a very personable experience and we absolutely loved it. I have never smoked anything in my entire life and I honestly enjoyed the cigar Glenn recommended so much that I smoked the whole thing! The cigars are all hand rolled with the best top quality leaves! We learned a few great tips as well. This was such a fun and educational tour! We enjoyed our time with Glenn so much and hope to stay in touch and get back there again. I would urge anyone whether smoker or not to go on this specific tour. This is a smaller operation but THE BEST hand rolled cigars you are going to find in the D.R. as they have so many quality control checks to insure these are an amazing smoking experience! You learn so much in a friendly and fun environment! We did purchase a collection of 24 hand picked cigars by Glenn which he carefully packaged for us to take back to the states. Thanks for a memorable enjoyable experience. Viva Vivonte!

The trip was very well planed out in advance great communication from the tour operator with advance taxi planning, answering all questions and helpful in explaining all steps from acquiring the tobacco to aging and rolling with offers at hands on experience.
