Great time

Our tour guide, Philipe, was wonderful. The climb to the top of Machu Picchu is steep and we were very slow. Philipe gracefully stopped at numerous spots to tell us about the plants and animals while giving us time to breathe. The only reason I’m giving the overall tour a four rather than a five is because the transportation was a bit confusing. We didn’t meet our guide until we arrived at Aguas Calientes, four hours after we departed the hotel. Navigating the train station and bus pickup locations in the dark, without help, made us a bit nervous. Apart from that, however, we loved the tour and would recommend it to friends and family.

This company is horrible

This company had no communication. They picked us up at 3:30 to wait for the train for an hour. When we got to aguas calientes, it took them 45 minutes to buy bus ticket. Then they scheduled the wrong entry time for the park. Lack of communication and didn't even do hotel drop-off as promised. I was highly disappointed by this company.

Worst tour - it makes you feel as if Machu Picchu isn't worth the hassle

I typically take tours so I don't need to worry about things when traveling and know everything will be handled. This was not one of those tours and left me much more stressed out than if I had just organized everything myself. First off, the tour company did not reach out or communicate until about 12 hours before the trip was supposed to start despite me emailing 2 days prior to ask for confirmation that they would pick us up at the hotel. They did pick us up at 3:30 am and we were crammed into a shuttle van for the next 90 minutes (even the middle seat next to the driver was taken). Someone came on board and quickly said the itinerary in Spanish which we could not understand so we hoped for the best. Once we arrived at agua calientes we had to wait 2 hours until the guide lead us to the same line everyone else waiting to take the bus. There was no skipping any lines as was stated on the tour. That was a complete lie and we were in the same line as anyone who bought a regular bus ticket. Once we arrived at Machu Picchu it was discovered that the tour company bought the ticket for the wrong gate. The tour guides started without us and we were left to deal with the tour company over the phone trying to sort out the mess. They finally texted a picture of the tickets over with the correct date but then for a time an hour later than the original ticket. We had to argue with the ticket guy to let us in so we could join the tour. Once we got in we had to hustle up to catch up which is not easy at altitude and the immediate climb. At the point we were able to join we had already missed more than 25% of the tour and also noticed it was well over 20 people which did not make listening easy or organizing the group efficient. Once it was done we had 5 hours to kill till our train was leaving. Sometime during this time, the tour company wrote to ask what time my train ticket voucher was (not sure why they didn't have this on file since they booked it). When we finally did get back to the van, again it was packed and it seems we picked up a few friends of the driver. We stopped on the side of the road as well to pick up another. Once in the Cusco, the driver dropped off his friends at their place and the tour guests all at one place at a plaza. We hopped off happy to get away from this terrible company while the other tour guests were arguing with the driver to bring them closer to home. Save yourself time and stress and just book the trip yourself.
