We will start our excursion by picking you up at your hotel and we will go to our stable in the Fundo Molleray, which is located 15 minutes from the Cusco airport, we will show you our horses and give you a safe talk and explain some details of the route during trip. We will descend to cross some streams and a eucalyptus forest. We will continue along a path that will take us to the top of the hills where we will have a view of the south side of the Cusco Valley, we will continue riding all over the upper part until we reach the highest hill, which is a natural viewpoint. We will get off our horses to rest and enjoy our lunch while we appreciate and contemplate the view of the entire Cusco Valley. Must do activity!

Our family of 4, including 2 teens, enjoyed this horseback riding adventure. Our guide, Diego, was professional, knowledgeable, and ensured our safety throughout the experience. He explained each horse’s personality which allowed us to choose the one that was the best fit for us. He also showed us how to introduce ourselves to the horses so that we could form a bond with them before the ride. We stopped at 4 different points along the trail and Diego shared the history and story behind each site which was interesting and educational. Most of the ride followed a gentle trail and at times we got to trot which made the experience more fun. Our ride was in the afternoon so we got to see the beautiful sunset towards the end of the ride. We’ve done a few horseback riding activities over the years and this experience was by far the best one.

Perfect way to acclimate to the altitude

This was hands down the best tour we took while in Cusco. Gabriel is an absolute gem. If you have the opportunity to learn from him about the local culture, the Inca people, and life in the region, you'll leave both happier and more knowledgeable. He guided us on a wonderful ride through the mountains and hills, sharing fascinating information while allowing plenty of time to take in the breathtaking scenery. The horses were well cared for, gentle, and easy to ride, and we felt safe and comfortable throughout the entire experience. This tour was the perfect way to acclimate to the altitude while enjoying some of the most beautiful views around Cusco. We only wish we had booked another tour with Gabriel during our trip. I cannot recommend this horseback riding tour highly enough.

Amazing experience, Amazing Guide Heber, Incredible value

The weather was not too good, it was raining and actually the mountain was covered with snow. However, it makes the experience even more unique. I was picked up in front of my hotel, and then a long ride to the restaurant for breakfast (it was excellent). We continued the ride to the trail head. Heber, our guide, gave us some info and help us decide if we need a horse ride. I chose the horse, and it was the right decision, given the weather and the altitude, I won't be able to walk up even I am fit enough to run a half marathon. When I got off the horse, there was still around an hour of hike at high altitude. It was tough. Different groups are identified by the color of the walking stick. At the top Heber actually looked for us (as the group got scattered) and made sure we are OK, and took some amazing picture of me. The hike down was fine, and it took a bit more than an hour. After the hike we went to the same restaurant for lunch. Excellent food. Then we rode back to Cusco and got dropped off at the main square. Overall, incredible experience and I still can't believe I paid such a low price.

I had an amazing time touring Machu Picchu with the Happy Gringo company. First off I want to give a HUGE shout out and thanks to Frank for helping me make this tour happen. My first 3 attempts of scheduling a tour were all canceled for a variety of reasons. Frank was amazing in helping me with a last minute booking to visit the site especially since I only had one day I could do it. Frank you are amazing!!! Secondly I want to thank Ruben my guide for an amazing and informative tour. Ruben gave me the history at each location and even helped take some fantastic photos during the tour. Afterwards, he made a wonderful restaurant recommendation where I got to try some delicious local peruvian food. If you ever plan to visit Machu Picchu, I highly recommend you use these guys. The guide, “Benni”, was exceptional! Confident in her knowledge of Inca history, she was extremely adept in her responses to even our poorly worded questions and was professional enough use words and phrases that made understanding her explanations easier. She was very engaging, but personable and courteous. Having traveled extensively worldwide, I can confidently say, this was the most engaging and educational tour I have ever taken. Don’t lose her!
