We had a thoroughly enjoyable time on our quadbike tour. The journey to and from Rainbow Mountain enabled us to see more of Peru. Our guide, Cristian, ensured that we were informed of pick up details before the day and, throughout the excursion, checked that we were coping with the elevation. Itinerary

Your Rainbow Mountain ATV tour begins with convenient pickup from your Cusco hotel or residence for a ride to Japura.

After a filling breakfast buffet, hop on your ATV for your ride up the mountain. Riding an ATV cuts down on time and allows you to reach the top before the crowds. This option is also suitable for those who find it too difficult to hike at high altitudes.

After an hour-long ride, walk the rest of the way—one mile (1.5 kilometers)—to the viewpoint, arriving before the crowds since you skipped the hike. Here, you can take in the views of the colorful mountain and snap photos to your heart’s content.

Ride back down to the ATV pickup point where a delicious lunch awaits. Then, enjoy the scenery on your ride back to Cusco, where you are dropped off at your original departure point.

Roy was great. He was very attentive. I'd never been on an ATV before, and we were provided instructions and time to practice. On the ride up we passed lama, alpacas, and lakes. The colors on the mountains were beautiful. *Roy's name is longer in Spanish, but he said we could call him Roy.

It was a long day but Valerio was a great guide. The mountains were beautiful! The lunch stop was ok. Doing this the day after Machu Picchu was maybe not the best idea. So much time traveling in 2 days.

If you don’t mind sitting in a cramped shuttle van for 8 hours with 14 other people some of whom smell like an old motel room that allowed smoking for 40 years and never changed their bedding or curtains, then this will be a 5-star experience. The ATV ride up Rainbow Mountain was beautiful. Despite it snowing and most of Rainbow Mountain muted due to cloud cover, the 2 hours spent riding up and at the peak were fun. Then there was the 8 hour ride from Cusco and back. Single lane Peruvian roads with ample speed bumps and potholes. Drivers constantly swerving back and forth. It’s amazing no one got car sick.

Actually driving the ATV and rainbow mountain was great. The 3 hours there with lunch and 3 hours back without a stop was too long. Definitely needed a stretch break with Cusco traffic.

Great Tour, went all the way to the summit to have a great view of rainbow mountain and the surrounding snow capped peaks. Our guide Roy was awesome, he made sure everybody was ok and kept us informed of everything. I did not have my phone with me, but Roy let me borrow his phone to take all the pictures I wanted. That’s awesome customer Service. Take altitude meds if you’re feeling off prior to this tour 🥴

Without a doubt, take this tour, it’s the best one out there. It leaves earlier than the rest, so you reach the mountain when there’s no one else around. They’re punctual and very professional. Everything is perfectly organized. Honestly, it’s the best tour I’ve done in all of Peru. José Luis, the guide, explains everything clearly—what you’ll do, when, and how long each part takes (about 2 hours to breakfast, then another hour to the base of the mountain where the quads are). He also takes photos for you… 10/10.

Everyone should just take this way up the mountain. Being able to ride thru Peru on a quad is an epic experience we will never forget. The guides took care of us the whole way. Worth it!!

My wife and I did the quad bike tour to Rainbow Mountain and it was honestly an incredible experience from start to finish. Riding the quads through the landscape was a lot of fun and made the journey itself just as memorable as the destination. The scenery along the way is beautiful, and reaching Rainbow Mountain in person is even more impressive than the photos. Everything was very well organized and run smoothly. The guides were friendly, professional, and made sure everyone was comfortable and safe while still keeping the day fun and relaxed. The pace was just right, with plenty of time to enjoy the views, take photos, and really take it all in. This ended up being one of the highlights of our trip. It’s a fantastic way to experience Rainbow Mountain, and I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone looking for something a bit more adventurous and memorable than the standard trip.

Can’t stress altitude acclimation enough. This activity is at 15,000ft elevation. Be prepared for cold wet weather, at this altitude weather can change in a minute. The mountain was beautiful and the guides were very attentive. Lunch was a little subpar but everything else was fine.

This was a very fun tour and great for anyone who is nervous about doing the full hike at Rainbow mountain. Arturo and Yadira were our tour guides and they made us feel very safe and were clear with instructions when teaching us how operate the ATV. Riding the rest of the way up the mountain on the back of the motor cycle was a little scary but also thrilling. Highly recommend this tour to anyone.

Just a wonderful experience. Communication was clear and they answered all questions. We picked the 6:30 am pickup time. At 6:15 we were picked up from our hotel. Drove for two hours and stopped for breakfast. Breakfast place was clean but breakfast options were ok. Then we drove for another one hour to the base where ATV ready for us. Arturo and Yadira helped us get comfortable with the ATV. After couple of practice rounds off we went. The landscapes are just amazing. The ride lasted around 20 mins or so, where we reached the rainbow mountain base. From there we were put on a bikes which took each one of us to the top of the mountain in 5 mins. ATV and bike ride were safe and comfortable. From the base it was just a short walk to the mountain. Rainbow mountain itself was beautiful but the views of the landscapes around were just phenomenal. Yadira and Arturo constantly checked on us if we were ok and if needed any assistance like oxygen, etc. Yadira also showed us the best spot for pictures and even took our pictures. After we were done with the mountain we headed back to base on bikes. We got on our ATVs to go back. This time we took a different route and we went off the trail to another viewing point to see the Cusco Glacier. That was a real fun adventure though it was foggy n we couldn’t see the glacier but it was fun. We headed back to the van which took us to the same location for lunch and back to Cusco. Lunch was ok some vegetarian options were good. All in all it was a wonderful day and I would recommend it to anyone who wants to experience this without any hiking. Not just the destination the journey itself is wonderful.

Excellent tour! I would highly recommend if you want to see/explore rainbow mountain without doing the strenuous hike! The use of the ATV and the motorbikes were a blessing! They are totally safe. The guides were helpful, patient, professional and friendly! You can operate the ATV on your own or ride with a friend or one of the guides! The motorbike are driven by professionals. We were picked up from our hotel in a timely manner. The guide explained the itinerary. We stopped for breakfast and lunch which was included. The food was satisfactory. The guides took photos for everyone at Rainbow mountain. You had sufficient time to explore. Be advised that to use the restroom at the location where you get your ATV's cost two Solis. At Rainbow mountain the cost to use the restroom is 2 solis. You need to have Solis currency with you at Rainbow mountain as the natives will only accept that currency as payment. The guide explained to us that it's very difficult for the natives to exchange foreign currency as they would have to go to Cusco to do so.

Great panoramic views of the mountains. It was good to have the option to self-drive the ATV or getting an experienced driver, so that you feel safe. There was a bit of confusion stopping for lunch at 10.30 am - 2 hrs from departure, after we were told to make sure we had breakfast before leaving. We got a snacks bag upon return, which was good.

I recently did the Rainbow Mountain ATV tour, and it was absolutely incredible! From start to finish, everything was well organized and full of fun. Our guides, Arturo and Yadira, made the experience even better — they were professional, friendly, and full of energy. The ATV ride through the Andes was breathtaking, surrounded by snow-capped peaks, colorful valleys, and stunning views all along the route. Arturo and Yadira made sure everyone felt safe and confident on the ATVs, as well as saved me multiple times from altitude sickness. What really stood out to me was how caring and thoughtful they both were. My boyfriend accidentally left his jacket behind at a restaurant after the tour, and Arturo went out of his way to retrieve it the next day — he even managed to get it back to us just in time for our next tour! That level of kindness and dedication truly went above and beyond. When we reached the top of Rainbow Mountain, Yadira and Arturo helped us capture incredible photos and made sure everyone had time to enjoy the view. The combination of adventure, scenery, and their genuine hospitality made this experience one of the highlights of our trip. If you’re visiting Cusco and want to experience Rainbow Mountain in a fun and memorable way, I can’t recommend the ATV tour with Arturo and Yadira!

The ATV ride to the beautiful Rainbow Mountain was fantastic! It was such a unique experience, and we also got to visit another viewpoint — Mirador Ausangate. Overall, it was amazing! We were picked up directly from our hotel, enjoyed breakfast and lunch, and were dropped off back at the hotel afterward.

Unprepared, Unsafe, and Unprofessional Experience

We booked this tour expecting an exciting ride to Rainbow Mountain, but it turned out to be poorly organized and unsafe. No one told us beforehand that we would have to drive ATVs for a full hour each way on very dangerous mountain roads with steep drops. It was nerve-wracking. When we finally reached Rainbow Mountain, it was completely covered in snow, but we still managed to enjoy the experience and make the best of it. The real problems started on the way back. We had to walk for about 30 minutes, and then it began to rain and thunder. Despite the weather, the guides expected us to ride the ATVs back in heavy rain and lightning for nearly an hour. At one point, one of the riders lost control and fell into a cliff and had to jump off to save his life. Instead of showing any concern for his safety, the guides only cared about recovering their ATV. They made all ten of us wait in the rain while they tried to pull it out, instead of having one guide lead the group back safely. When we finally got to the restaurant, we were not allowed to leave until they finished pulling the ATV out, which took hours, and forced the injured rider to pay for the damage. The guides were rude, uncommunicative, and clearly prioritized their equipment over people’s safety. Overall, the organization was a complete mess. If you want to see Rainbow Mountain or ride ATVs, find another company. This one does not care about your experience, time, or safety.

We had the best time! We were picked up right on time at our hotel, driven out to the starting point, given a great ATV tutorial, and then we were off. The driving was safe and the views were incredible! At the top, we hopped off and took a 5 minute motorcycle ride up, with a quick walk up to the very top. The colors were amazing, and the views somehow got even better. We had lots of time to explore and take pictures and drink in the experience, then walked back down to the ATVs and headed back to the start. Lunch was provided and was absolutely delicious, then we headed back to Cusco! I absolutely recommend going with this group, we were well taken care of the entire time by a friendly and professional staff of locals who have been successfully guiding this trip for a long time.
