Great experience, well organized and good guides. The trip to the ruins from the port is over an hour so the air conditioned bus is try only way to travel it.
This was super awesome, I loved the history and the tour guide was really knowledgeable. It was super far from the port, so we lost a lot of time at the beach. It was very pleasant.
Bus had issues but was quickly replaced with a bus with working AC! Restaurant place was nice with great service!
Meeting location easy to get to. Guide was knowledgeable about the culture and entertaining. Kept us in the shaded areas as much as possible which was helpful. Bus had AC and cold drinks provided. Lunch was simple but perfect right before beach.

Great experience. Carlos was our tour guide. Carlos was great!!! Very knowledgeable, respectful and very funny!!! He made us laugh the whole way and gave us a lot of history from the place.

The pre departure process was smooth right from meeting location at the cruise port and the transport to where the Toucan Tour office is located. We were provided cold refreshments and we boarded a nice Mercedes Sprinter van to the ruins. It took an hour to get there and we were greeted by our tour guide Carlos upon arrival and we toured the place for an hour. Carlos was really an awesome tour guide and we really had a blast at Chacchoben ruins. Now things got really interesting with this lunch at the beach combo as it turned out to be nightmare. Our driver took us to Mazamao restaurant at Mahahual fishing village. Please note you can only have 1 food selection and 2 drinks. Their service was awful. The manager was smoking inside the restaurant. The appetizer chip was terrible, my beef fajita was undercooked and minimally portioned. The 2 mango margaritas that I ordered didn’t have any kick and also smaller portion. One of our orders arrived 30 minutes later and yet they were quick to place the tip jar on each table for gratuity. We were only given 1.5 hrs to eat there so some scrambled to get a massage or soaked at the beach. It wasn’t relaxing at all thus I would recommend just sticking to the Mayan ruins tour and skip the beach as it definitely not worth the extra price.

This tour was good once we figured out were to go. I'd not done a tour not booked thru the cruiseline before and hadn't paid close attention to the fact that I needed to look for Tucan Tours and not Viator at the port. Once we found the group, the tour guide, JC, was good and I could hear and understand him. He was great at telling us exactly what to expect and where we need to be. We were also provided bottled water. Lunch was good. I wish we could have had more time at the beach.

The tour was great and our tour guide was amazing, the driver was also good…the restaurant wasn’t good though, the food was bland and a waste of time… I would have just preferred to hang around on the beach or something

Tour was a must do at least once. Our tour guide, JC, was super informative, friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. The lunch at the beach was hands down, a 5+. Delicious steak tacos and a couple beers. The beach itself is what brought our review down to a 4, but really we didn’t have time for the beach after we ate anyway. Would definitely recommend this tour!

The local tour company waited for the other tourists that they collected from other locations (not from ship). We waited for almost 2 hours before our bus arrived, loaded the additional passengers, and left. It took an hour drive to the Chaccohoben Mayan ruins. The bus was full and the temperature inside the bus was 33C. It took 30 min for the AC to work but only dropped to 26C 30 min later and stayed that way. The tour is supposed to take 5 hours but since we already lost 2 hours (waiting for other tourists), we canceled the Beach part where we were supposed to have lunch and traveled back to the port for another hour so we don't miss our cruise ship's departure.

One thing we are certain of: we never make our customers wait more than 20 minutes, much less 2 hours. Definitely not!
The ride to and from the ruins is about 1 hour each way. Although they are amazing, we spent about one hour there. Lots of transportation time

This was an amazing trip!! The chacchoben ruins were so amazing and the tour guide Daniel (Danny) was great, very knowledgeable. Very interesting learning the Myan history. We saw monkeys playing in the trees. Definitely recommend. Lunch was delicious and Beach was very nice and relaxing!!

Ruins were great. Tour guide, driver, and staff were great. I would definitely skip the beach. That particular beach spot was gross. Also, Viator did not make it clear what the name of the local company was that I was looking for. It was a bit confusing. I had to search around for where to go.

The restaurant was not worth the price and staff not friendly. The beach was not nice. You would be better served eating at the port and not stress about missing the departure time of the ship. Otherwise it was worth the price. Would book again without the lunch on the beach fiasco. The owner of the restaurant was combative and argumentative about orders. I would have walked out but had to wait for the tour bus!!

Learning about the Mayan Ruins was ok but paying for lunch and beach time and not getting it was a huge let down. We paid a lot of money and to not get what we paid for was quite the blow. The tour should be shorter and include lunch on the bus and no beach or shorter and more beach time.

It was good for those who like historical trips. For our family it was a little boring since you’re not allowed to climb up the steps in some of the ruins. The guide, Eliseo, was amazing. We did not complete the lunch at the beach because some of the people had to come back to the ship because they did not buy the lunch at the beach part of the excursion. so, we ended up missing that part of the Excursion, because even though the driver went back to the beach, we first had to take some of the people back to the ship and because we waited forever for two people who never showed up to leave the ruins.

Excellent tour! Enjoyed hearing the history and the tour guide not shying away from the complete history of the Mayans particularly the human sacrifices. Our tour guide, Carlos was very knowledgeable and accommodating. They kept us hydrated the entire time. We also stopped for fresh mangos and pineapples. We loved the souvenir and snack shop. Unfortunately, there was not enough time to head to the beach. The waters were rough that day anyway, but we missed getting the lunch we paid for. Maybe consider taking the lunch portion out of the package knowing that there will never be enough time to go.

The pickup process was smooth – and they offered a nice place to wait for our bus, with free bottled water, soda, and beer. The bus was great, and the tour guide kept us informed and entertained during the hour-long drive to the Mayan ruins. The park was very well laid out and maintained, and just as nicely as any U.S. National Park. We sweated a lot walking through the park, but the tour kept us hydrated very well. Great experience with the Mayan temple ruins. We were there for about an hour and 20 minutes before buying some snacks and water and getting back on the bus. The only downside of the day was that we left a little late to head back for the second half of the excursion, which was to be beach, food & drinks. We had one straggler returning to the bus, plus the guide offered an extra stop for local pineapples. That was another 10-15 minutes. By the time we returned to port to drop the non-beach folks off, we realized we'd have at most 90 minutes at the beach. So we opted out of the second half and went back to the ship. That means we wasted the extra money we'd paid for the second half of the excursion. But better than that than worry about being late back to the ship.

This was a beautiful experience and the staff were very friendly and attentive. Eliseo, Manuel and Gabriela did a fantastic job getting us to and from each place on time and efficiently. Great ruins sight and history , and good lunch on the beach. They also got us back to the cruise on time! Highly recommended!

The tour was excellent.. START TO FINISH! When we arrived from our short walk from the ship.. we were greeted and driven to the outside location. The staff there went above and beyond to make sure we got water, beer or soda. Very clean establishment.. great people. We also happened to take the tour with two lovely families that we made friends with. We've traeled a bit and done quite a few excursions.. this was top of the line. OUR GUIDE was phenomenal. He had so much knowledge and share amazing amounts of history with us regarding the area.. it's past presnet and future. He also talked extensively about the Mayan culture and its history and origins. When were then taken to the most amazing beach restaurant! The food was excellent and the beach was feet away!! I've don't leave many reviews.. however this was really a special excursion!! So happy we chose it!! THANKS VIATOR!!
