This was an excellent excursion for our big family (2 adults 4 kids ranging from 8-16). We travelled in a nice van with a fantastic guide and we arrived at the lagoon and boarded a well maintained boat driven by a boat captain who drive us all around the lagoon. Our guide was with us and she explained so many interesting facts and information! We had two swimming stops in the gorgeous blue water. We wore life jackets while on the boat but swam without them. After the lagoon we were taken to a local taco shop and had a delicious lunch off the beaten path, which was a highlight. The entire team was so kind, hospitable, made sure we were comfortable and having a great time. The tour communicated well ahead of time. It was a really amazing experience. If you’re willing to spend a little time driving to the lagoon, this excursion is so worth it! One of the most gorgeous places on the planet, led by a fantastic group of local people.

We had such a fun day on the Bacalar Lagoon 7 Colors excursion! Our guide picked us up near the cruise port, and after about an hour drive, we arrived at the lagoon and boarded a boat.
The water in Bacalar was absolutely beautiful. We visited three different cenotes by boat, and it was really interesting to see how each one had its own unique characteristics. We also stopped in shallow areas where we could get out of the boat, swim, and just hang out in the gorgeous water.
One of my favorite parts was something our guide did for us on the way there. We stopped in Pineapple Town, where he bought us a fresh honey pineapple. Later, while we were swimming, our boat driver cut it up and served it to us right there in the water! It was one of the most delicious pineapples I've ever had. I'm definitely going to be looking for honey pineapples when we get home!
After the boat ride, we had lunch beside another cenote. Lunch included three tacos each. I had the fish tacos and my husband had the chicken, and they were both delicious.
Between the beautiful lagoon, the cenotes, swimming, fresh pineapple in the water, and delicious lunch, this was such a fun and memorable experience. We really enjoyed our day and would definitely recommend this excursion to anyone visiting Costa Maya! 🌴🍍💦
This boat ride and lagoon is worth the hour drive from the port. The tacos at the authentic restaurant were delicious.

The hour + van drive was worth the ride when we arrived Bacalar and saw the amazing water color! The cenotes are incredible. The beef guacamole tacos and passion fruit drink was delicious. Yocelyn and Aquino were great! Thank you for a fantastic day.

ride to pontoon was 90 min in A/C Van. Guide and driver was fun and full of energy. Good was good. Pineapple on pontoon was fabulous. Even got to buy me some fresh coconut. Food was delicious and water was beautiful.

Really wonderful lowkey experience. Jocelyn was a fantastic tour guide, very knowledgeable and friendly. She told us all about the lagoon and surrounding areas. Sharing fresh pineapple that our guides bought from a local family while swimming in the 7 color lagoon was our favorite part of the experience! The tacos we had at the local restaurant they took us to afterward were delicious too. Would recommend if you’re looking for a low effort, relaxing, and informational tour.
Things to note: no sunscreen at all in the lagoon, and it is an hour long drive from the cruise port to the lagoon.

Naturaleza Bacalar tours provided incorrect & misleading departure information for this excursion based on the ships arrival time when I enquired about it, as there is none specified on the activity when booking. On arrival, they made a last minute attempt to contact us about another family waiting / being delayed, & although we rushed to make the transportation, they ended up leaving us at the port. They then arranged for a local taxi company to take us to Bacalar, told me to negatiate cost directly with the taxi driver, and then stopped answering all my calls and messages. The local taxi company asked me to pay an additional $150 to take us to Bacalar, which I ofcourse rejected as it was irresponsible of tour guide operator to put us in that situation. I was travelling with my wife & 3 year old toddler & the stress of dealing with this tour operator left a very bitter taste in our mouths. We will never book anything with them or through Viator in future as there was an impartial, unfair, and rushed ruling on my request to obtain a refund, despite trying to get them both to understand my point of view on the confusing departure information provided. My advice would be to AVOID, AVOID, AVOID, and always book your activities through the cruiseliners even though there may be a small premium attached to it, as this sort of headache which spoilt our Costa Maya experience would have never occur. Also this experience is not cheap, so we've ended up losing quite a bit of money.

Before the excursion, the departure information and meeting instructions were sent to you through the Viator communication system. We have access to the shared Viator inbox, and the correspondence was reviewed and confirmed by Viator during their investigation. The messages clearly provided the necessary information regarding the meeting time and departure arrangements.
Unfortunately, you did not arrive at the designated meeting point at the scheduled time. In fact, you arrived approximately one hour late. We understand that delays can happen, especially when travelling by cruise ship, but we also have a responsibility to the other guests who followed the instructions, monitored their communications, and were present on time. We could not reasonably continue delaying the entire group.
We also want to clarify that Viator reviewed the communication and circumstances before making its decision regarding your refund request. Their decision was based on the information available in the correspondence shared between Viator and our company.
We sincerely regret that this situation affected your experience in Costa Maya. At the same time, we encourage all future guests to carefully monitor their email and Viator messages before and on the day of their excursion, particularly when travelling from a cruise ship. Meeting times and last-minute operational updates are communicated through these channels, and checking them is essential to avoid misunderstandings.
We respect your decision regarding future bookings, but we hope this clarification helps future travelers understand the importance of checking their messages and arriving at the designated meeting point on time.
Soo much fun! We just did this excursion during our cruise trip. My kids still speak about the event and the lagoon was so beautiful. We learn so much during our private tour with our guide. It is about 1 hr and 10 min long. Our driver pick us up at the port and stops midway to pick up a pineapple and for the kids to stretch and get some snack for the road. Love the whole experience.

Bacalar lagoon is absolutely beautiful!! This excursion was 100% worth it. We went on Monday, July 20th, 2026. It's a good 1hr20min ride from Costa Maya port to the lagoon and same time for drive back, but we still arrived back with around 45min to spare before ship departure time to be back on the ship.
The guides were amazing, friendly, and educated us on the culture and areas. Answered all our questions.
The tour itself involved plenty of tequila shots, bottled water, the BEST and SWEETEST pineapple and a good lunch at a local restaurant where we all chose beef, chicken or pork tacos.
If you are cruising, don't miss out on this excursion! My 6yo had a blast swimming in the shallow waters and it was really neat to see the various cenotes and pirates channel.
It is a decent walk from the port as you have to walk around the shops and then behind them. Not a bad walk for us in our 40s and my 6yo, but would've been a little taxing on my parents in their 70s if they would've gone as they have bad knees/hips. They could've made the walk to the meeting point, just would've taken a little longer with a rest break or 2. The actual excursion is minimal walking and a nice gentle boat ride. The only other thing that "may" be difficult for those who don't walk well is getting up/down the pontoon ladder to swim if they choose.
Again, we thoroughly enjoyed this excursion and would 100% do it again! Thank you for such a wonderful time!!

The directions for where to go when you get off the ship are abysmal. We were so stressed trying to find where to go, we were lucky that we found someone who told us where we had to go. Its not how you want to start your day. The bus ride is long and the area is blighted. The lagoon was beautiful, great water. After we went to eat and it was ok. There was no Tequila tasting either. I wouldn't use Viator in Central America again.

I chose this specific excursion because I did not want to stop at different areas that did not interest me. This went to the lagoon and only the lagoon.
Our driver was Aquino and the person doing the explaining was J (I do not remember her name). J was amazing. Aquino got us back to the port with a few minutes to spare.
The lagoon was beautiful and we enjoyed having time to swim. I have been on other excursions in which swimming was only 10 minutes.
When you get to the port do not wait in line with the hundreds of people. Keep walking. The bus is at the very end of the lines of bus and taxis.

The whole experience was amazing! Our tour guide Siomara was amazing and so informative with each place we went and the questions we asked at each location! The logistics, i.e. making sure we got back to port on time, informing us of what we'll be doing next, keeping time checks etc was amazing for peace of mind. Everything was well organized and planned, and a great bang for your buck. we highly recommend for those who are looking to book something outside of the excursions given from the cruise! They are 10000% trustworthy and would book again!!

The tour guide and driver went above and beyond. While we were waiting for the other party to show up at the van, they actually took us to a location near the port we wanted to visit just to make sure we wouldn’t miss it. They provided beer and tequila shots at no extra charge and stopped and got us honey pineapple to try. We will ALWAYS use this company for our tour needs if they offer it.

I cannot say enough about this company and the experience offered, they went out of their way to accommodate us when they didn’t have to. The staff was so incredibly friendly and they made you feel welcome. The lagoon, boat ride and the entire experience was breathtaking. The bacalar lagoon and boat ride were amazing and lunch was quite good. Only downside is the distance to get from the cruise port to the van and the ride to the lagoon. The van is very cramped for the hour plus ride.

The meeting place was quite a distance from the port. The van had ac and took an hour to get to the lagoons. The lagoons were amazingly beautiful! The water was shallow and the temperature was nice. There weren’t really any fish, so no snorkeling. We had a short drive to get tacos, they were okay.

Well organized, guide very friendly, informative, comfortable van transportation, beautiful boat ride. Enjoyed the fresh pineapple and mango on the boat. We were offered many beverages throughout the trip, water, coke, beer, tequila, and cucumber lemon juice. We enjoyed the restaurant meal. Arrived back to the port on time. I highly recommend this excursion.
