Better to do it on your own

Alessandro_Z, Mar 2026
The timing for this tour is off. You can do this on your own for a similar cost and go about your day in a more enjoyable and efficient way. We were not in the Hotel Zone which meant getting picked up first and dropped off last which added 2 hours to an already long day. The first 1.5 hours of the tour is picking up people. The first cenote was fine, just a quick stop to take a photo, see it, and swim a little. I found this to be an ok amount of time at this particular cenote. Then we went for lunch where most of the day went. We got welcomed by a Mayan Shaman who then just tried to sell us little statues for 8750 MXN each, after saying no, we got promptly escorted out and to the shop where we spent another 30 minutes waiting for the tables to be ready. Once at the tables you must wait another 5 minutes to be explained how a buffet works (rolls eyes) and we got just under an hour. given the 45 minute drive from the cenote, I expected a quick welcome and off for food. From there you go to Chichen Itza, but we were running a bit late so the tour cut into the walking around time and eventually into the last cenote. We arrived at the last cenote (Ik-Kil) with just 1 hour to closure. By the time you get your life jacket and go down, you will have about 20 minutes to enjoy the swim where you could easily spend an hours enjoying the water. The only saving grace of the tour is the ability to have a beer at the stops while everyone gets back on, and the positive attitude of the guides.

Major Communication, Pricing Transparency, and Basic Courtesy Issues Ruined Great Tour

Nicholas_Z, Jan 2026
It's unfortunate that a great tour was soiled by poor communication, a complete lack of price transparency, and an inconsiderate end to the trip. My group and I were excited to see Chichen Itza, swim in Cenotes, and enjoy authentic Yucatan culture. Unfortunately, in the days preceding the excursion, we were met with a complete lack of responsiveness regarding our questions about the tour. We were willing to write this off however in the case of an excellent tour. The good news is that the actual contents of the tour were great! The cenotes, Chichen Itza, and the Mayan Village were interesting and engaging places to visit. The food at the Mayan Village was also delicious. What followed the second half of the day completely ruined our experience. I was told that I still needed to pay "taxes" on the tour which was said to only be a 5% increase. Knowing that this was not a large amount I was okay with it. When I gave my card away I was met with a $200+ bill on top of the $300+ I had spent for my group to go on the tour. When we asked why this was such a high amount, we were ignored and not given a clear answer. This lack of pricing transparency was a really bad look. The crazy thing is that if that pricing was provided up front, I don't think many of us would have felt it was unreasonable. The complete lack of transparency is what felt very unfair. The drop-off sequence that ended our tour is what solidified our unfortunate experience. We were told we would be dropped off at the same spot we were picked up (Yellow Capsule), but instead we were left at a random bus stop in Cancun far from our AirBnB. This was a very unprofessional act from the tour agency. I hope others do not have the experience we did with Baktun tours because the lack of communication, pricing transparency, and general courtesy ruined a wonderful day exploring Yucatan culture.

Impressive and fun trip!...

Impressive and fun trip! Swimming in the Cenotes is a must-have experience. Our guide is very informative, humorous, and speaks good English.

Good day at the Cenotes

Angela_F, Dec 2025
So the Cenotes that we visited were breathtaking and amazing, just wish we had more time at Chichen Itza because there is a lot to see there. But the Valaloid stop was kinda unnecessary, we stayed for 20 minutes only and there is not much there at the square to see. So the tour bus picked us up 10 minutes after they were suppose to (7:10am not a big deal) then we had to pick up other passengers at different hotels and that took 2h. So the tour really started at 9:30am, and only then the tour guide let us know it was a 12h tour which we were a little surprised, cuz when we were looking online for a day tour we didn’t see or notice it was gonna be that long. The tour guide was knowledgeable yes, but definitely exaggerated on some comments (again not a big deal) and he did speak too fast at times trying to speak Spanish and English at the same time.. they also gave us a sandwich for lunch but we totally missed dinner at the resort because we got back around 10:30pm. But other than this observations it was a great day.

Scam Alert: Do not book a tour with this operator nor Viator, a company helping scammers use and operate on its platform

Viral_M, Dec 2025
Scam Alert: Beware of booking tour with this scammer of an operator. We booked Chichen Itza, Cenote Suytun and Ikkil tour and paid in full in advance. On the day of the trip, we were ready and waiting before 7am time. These fraud people never showed up. When contact, they never replied. We complained about this to Viator people but to no avail. We trusted Viator given it's part of TripAdvisor but they failed us. My family was keen to visit the places instead we were duped and not helped by Viator to our disappointment.

Overall good, but long and rushed

Shreya_S, Nov 2025
I chose this tour because it covered 2 cenotes along with Chichen Itza. And specifically Suytun and Ik kil were on my list. The cenotes were really beautiful, I am glad I chose this tour. Because there are multiple places, be prepared for a long day. We were picked up at 7:30 am from our hotel lobby. There was a bus change and quite a bit of waiting time, we eventually left for the tour at 9 am. This was something that the tour can improve on. The tour guide, Daniel, seems knowledgeable and passionate. But because we had an early morning, and the wait time to get started, we felt quite drowsy to listen to the tour guide. Also, the continuous switch between Spanish and English was really hard to follow. Yeri, who was also assisting the tour, was really sweet and helpful throughout the tour. Our driver, Charlie made sure the ride was smooth. The tour started with Cenote Suytun. It’s a beautiful cenote, a must-see. But be prepared to have very less time, as you need to take a shower before going in / taking picture on the platform. Next was Mayan experience: Shaman cleansing, followed by a buffet lunch. I would rate this average as I didn’t get much context on the Shaman practice and the food was also ok, since I don’t eat red meat, so there were not many options for me and my friends. After this, it was time to Chichen Itza.. we had another guide for this. Unfortunately, because it was a long day, we couldn’t follow the details of the Mayan history that the guide was saying. It left us with very little time to take pictures and shop for souvenir. Then was my favorite spot- Cenote Ik kil.. this is so mesmerizing. Be sure to give yourself time to get in the water! We ended with the town of Vallodolid .. but it was dark and late by the time we came here. Didn’t get enough time to explore. Overall, it was an extremely long day but I had amazing experiences at the cenotes. With a few improvements, this tour would be even more amazing.

AFFORDABLE and AMAZING Experience in Mexico!

Jerrica_T, Sep 2025
Our trip to Mexico was excellent because of them! We stayed in Playa del Carmen but rode 2 different buses, we we're concerned at first because pick-up was supposed to be 6:45am but the bus arrived at our hotel at 7:05am lol. We we're the first ones to get picked up, it took about 1h and 30 mins before we could officially depart as we had to pick up other guests in different hotels from Playa del Carmen to Tulum. The 2-3 hours drive from Playa to Tulum to Cenote Suytun was with Eduardo and Roberto as tour guides. Eduardo was excellent as he translated everything to English and made sure we were comfortable and taken care of! He takes his time to explain multiple times how the tour will work for us as we had to switch buses. There's also unlimited drinks/liquor in the bus! lol as well as free breakfast sandwiches. From Suytun we switched buses for the rest of the tour. Jimmy and Baruc we're our tour guides. We had about 20-30 mins in Cenote Suytun, they also have lockers for your things for $3 USD. We headed to Cooperativa Maya Ixchel y Restaurante Yaxkin in Xocempich, the lunch buffet, it was about a 45-minute drive. The entire time, Jimmy only spoke Spanish, because according to him, there we're only 7 English speaking people in the bus, the rest are Spanish speaking. Other guests we're kind enough and translated for us, Jimmy was talking about the Mayan calendar and baptism etc. The lunch lasted 1-2 hours and includes a Mayan ceremony before buffet lunch. They have a cafe that sells cold drinks and frozen shakes and coffees as well as a gift and souvenir shop that costs hella expensive and branding it "handcrafted by local Mayans who live in the next door village". We started off with a lesson and a demonstration of how the Mayan's work with their healing magic and their energy involving an Obsidian stone. The Mayan ceremony was complicated as the shaman only chose who to volunteer to open and close the ceremony and left the rest of us dealing for ourselves in their gift shop while waiting for the buffet tables to clear. Everything costs very expensive, i paid about $200 USD for 2 bracelets and an obsidian stone and when i think back about it, i think i was scammed. It was then followed by a tour and tasting of their cacao in the shop. And then the buffet lunch. Drinks are not included and cost extra, around $20 USD for 2 people. THE FOOD: I recommend trying the liver tacos!! It is to die for!! Also, watch out for the bees flying around their restrooms. I had to bust out of the toilet stall with my pants down because of bees lol. After lunch we headed to Chichen Itza pyramid, a 15-minute drive. Tip: Make sure not to lose your ticket because it cost extra to buy a new one. Jimmy gives out Umbrellas to those who need it. Once you get in, Jimmy assigns you to your tour guides, all 7 english-speaking tourists we're assigned a separate tour guide. We stayed about 45 minutes. PAY ATTENTION to the time that Jimmy tells you to come back to the bus, as the bus will leave you and you will have to pay for a very expensive taxi to go home. After the pyramid, we headed to Cenote Ik-kil, a 5-10 minute drive. They have an already paid for locker included in your tour to leave your things. It's mandatory to go bare-foot inside the Cenote, be aware it is VERY slippery and has steep stairs. We stayed about 45-minutes. After Ik-kil, we headed to our last stop, a plaza in Valladolid, Parque Principal Francisco Cantón Rosado, a 40-minute drive. The plaza has mexican street snacks and souvenirs which is CASH ONLY. We stayed about 20 minutes. This is also where we switched buses back to Eduardo and Roberto. MAKE SURE to bring all your stuff. The drive from Valladolid back to our hotel took about 4 hours instead of less than 2 hours because we had to stop to Tulum again before Playa del Carmen and drop off almost all the passengers. We were the last ones to be dropped off. In total, the trip lasted from 7:05am to 11:15pm, thats 16+ hours total. We paid about $60 each for this tour. I think that's a very affordable one!!! I would very much 100% recommend getting this tour again to friends and family. BIG SHOUTOUT to Jimmy for accommodating my hangover and making me sit in front of the bus so I don't get car sick! <3

This tour was a complete trap

Joyce_L, Jul 2025
We started the trip at 7:45 AM after picking up everyone. The first stop wasn’t a cenote or a historical site—it was a Mexican souvenir store, where we got were told to pay 765 MXN per person (cash in USD/MXN or card with an 8% fee) for what they called a “maintenance, care, and preservation fee.” We spent 40 minutes in the store just to pay this fee. This could have easily been collected when booking the tour, but of course, they want you at the store to encourage you to buy something. The tour description stated: * 3 hours at Cenote Ik Kil * 3 hours at Cenote Suytun * 3 hours at Chichen Itza * 1 hour in Valladolid Naturally, we assumed the first stop would be Chichen Itza. But no—the first stop was Cenote Suytun, and we only had 50 minutes there. When I asked our guide Jorge (from BK Mayan Tours) about the schedule, he got upset and told me he didn’t know about the itinerary on Viator, and that I should contact Viator, not him. His company planned the trip, not the Viator. He laughed at me when I asked about 3 hrs cenote instead of 50 mins. When I asked him what the next stop was, he said we were going to eat. I asked again what comes after lunch, and he ignored me and walked away. He later blamed us for "sleeping on the bus" and not paying attention when he was talking. But he mostly spoke in Spanish—maybe 10 sentences in total, with only 1 or 2 in English. How can we pay attention if we don't understand the language? He would say vague things like: “My friend… local cuisine… don’t freak out, I’ll help you… what does Chichen Itza mean… mouth…” and never completed a full thought in either language. When another woman on the bus asked him to speak English, he also told her to “pay attention when I talk.” Are you serious? He spoke all Spanish and wanted non-Spanish speaker to pay attention at all time, are you kidding me? At Cenote Suytun, we had to figure things out on our own. Jorge didn’t mention anything about lockers or payment. Thankfully, someone in our group stayed behind and watched our stuff so the rest of us could go down. But with such limited time, we only had about 2 minutes to swim, 10–15 minutes to wait in line for a photo, and then it was already time to leave. Rushed and frustrating. At 1:35 PM, we were told to go eat lunch—but first, we wasted another 45 minutes listening to Jorge talk about Mayan culture inside another souvenir store, which of course wasn’t mentioned in the tour description. Then we finally went to the restaurant. A photographer took photos of every group. When it was our turn and we refused, we were told the picture was “required,” so we had no choice. We finished lunch around 2:45 PM and finally headed to Chichen Itza. No issues there. Afterward, we went to Cenote Ik Kil, where we were supposed to have 3 hours. In reality? Only 50 minutes. And we lost at least 20 minutes just getl—lining up to check tickets, get lockers, use the bathroom, and pick up life vests. By the time we swam, we had maybe 10–15 minutes before heading back. Finally, we had only 20 minutes in Valladolid—barely enough to see anything. Bottom line: this tour is a scam.
They used our time for: * 45 minutes at a souvenir store under the guise of a “cultural introduction” * 35 minutes at the start of the tour just to pay fees * Barely any time to enjoy the actual cenotes I was skeptical about booking this tour because they only had 30 reviews, but I went for it because of the promise of visiting two cenotes. Big mistake. This was the worst tour I’ve experienced in 5 years of traveling the world—and the first one that made me write such a long review.

Tour offers great variety of places to see!

Gianelle_E, Jul 2025
Good value for money considering you get to go to 2 cenotes, Chichen Itza, Valladolid, plus a fantastic buffet lunch. The bus actually came from Tulum and we were picked up at Playa del Carmen around 730am. They gave us a sandwich which was a little bland but appreciate that we got a snack to start pir trip. We got to our 1st stop at around 10am. In the itinerary it says first stop is Chichen Itza, but they actually changed it to Cenotr Suytun which was not practical since you’ll be wet already at the beginning of the trip. It was also just 45min for the first cenote which felt super rushed coz there’s also a line for taking pictures. After, we went to a Mayan culture area. You get to have a Mayan Interpretation (?) transcript of a date of your choice, which I regret not doing. There’s also a small Choko Coffee outpost where we bought delicious (very refreshing!) fruit shakes. Then you get to partake in a shaman ritual. There’s a large souvenir area also. Then the buffet lunch, which was amazing!! Lots of food variety and they were all delicious. Drinks are not included, but the fruit shakes were very big! Of course the servers will ask for tips afterward. There will also be some performers while you’re eating. By the time we got to Chichen Itza, it was already close to 3pm. There were dark clouds but thankfully it didn’t rain. There were still a lot of people but it was still very enjoyable. There’s a tour guide that will give a very in-depth history of the Mayan culture. Very informative and interesting! This was the longest stop in the itinerary. We then went to Cenote Ik-kil. We had a longer time here so you actually get the chance to swim. Honestly, both cenotes on this trip were gorgeous! Last stop was Valladolid. Only 20mins to literally walk around the main plaza and take quick pictures. They then gave us concha bread after our last stop. This was such a sweet treat to end the tour! They also offered refreshments between each stop and they’re also generous in giving bottled water. Then back on the road to drop off people, first in Tulum area then Playa del Carmen. We got back at around 10pm. It was a very long day! This tour def packs a lot but I think the included stops offers a good variety compared to other tours. Plus all the food and drinks you get were very much worth it. As a side note, it was mostly Spanish-speaking tourists in our group, but the main tour guide did his very best to switch between Spanish and English. I didn’t feel lost at all and understood what was happening and what was being said. Props to our guide, his job is hard but he delivered! Unfortunately, I forgot his name. The driver also did a safe job of getting us to all our destinations. Stacey was the one who served food and drinks in the bus and the one who met us at the meeting place. All in all, I highly recommend this tour!

The team was fantastic. Carlos , Gabriel and Daniel . We enjoyed the whole day of activity. The only thing is they need to be organized with seat numbers , other than that AMAZING!

Dipan_S, Jun 2025
It was a pleasant guided tour. We would enjoyed the tour as it was, but tour guides made it ever special. They were not only knowledgeable but also engaging with their sense of humor and little extra activities. Few things: read all the details carefully and take plenty of fluid as it is a long, hot, and humid trip depending on when you take the tour, we took it in early June.

I booked the option to...

Adam_N, Apr 2025
I booked the option to include the hotel pickup from the Cancun Hotel Zone. I did this to avoid having to rent a car. I was picked up in a bus that had air conditioning, trays, USB chargers at every seat, and closable storage above every seat where you can safely store your belongings similarly to what a plane has. The bus also included a restroom. I am grateful for this because this option requires a lot of travel time in the bus as you visit each location. The travel time was well worth it because the views were breathtaking. Cenote Ik Kil and Cenote Suytun were beautiful and the water was refreshing. Bringing a waterproof phone case is highly recommended because you won't want to miss out on capturing these views. Free life jackets were included at both cenotes. Free lockers were provided only at cenote Ik Kil. At cenote Suytun, our belongings stayed on the bus and we brought down only what we needed. Both cenotes had life guards there to manage the area. The lifeguards were friendly and would often take pictures for the visitors. Chichen Itza was iconic and the tour guide gave knowledgeable info on the pyramid and it's history. The buffet was good and had a wide variety of options. There is a coffee/ice cream shop outside of the buffet area. It is not included in the tour so it cost extra. I got the mocha Frappuccino and it hit the spot. It was like an ice cream shake coffee drink. My tour guides were George and Beto. They were both very friendly and did an wonderful job managing the tour. I'm happy I got to experience this tour.

Horrible Tour guy

John_Y, Feb 2025
Throughout the whole tour (14 hours) , The tour guy spoke 10 sentence of Spanish and one sentence of English on every subject without stoping, pause common. Period. It was like listening to a typewriter in Spanish. I complained twice and other English speaking tours complained without any change. He even said majority of the people on the bus were Spanish I even asked him you could speak Spanish first then explain in English afterwards, but please do not mix your Spanish English altogether like a typewriter, but he ignored. all my requests.

Dont care in customer safety and situation

Thatchawut_P, Dec 2024
Good tour leader but worst admin. I try to send the location of my hotel to pick me up and return(which has big parking lots) but they just keep choose the spot that not the same even its late time (midnight) and admin keep throwing a problems to each other.

Take into account

Rosalia_C, Nov 2025
1.- It is not a good idea to take a tour that includes many activities. They are long distances and little time in each place. 2.- Ask how much quality time you will be at each site you visit 3.- There are too many extra expenses that encourage you to do, among tips ,extra services and tourism articles. 4.- In general the buffets are very good and varied but most meals for foreigners can be spicy. 5.- The staff in general are very friendly, well prepared and always willing to help. 6.- Take into account the date so you don't find everything crowded.

Very nice experience, well organized, you do not have much time to stay in the various places but on the other hand it is full of things, I would have avoided the meeting with the shaman and I would have been more time in Valladolid. The good and hearty lunch. I recommend being on time because they have no margin for delay being very full of stages. Recommended!
