I did a full-day tour with Amigo Tours today, visiting a cenote, a colonial town, and Chichen Itza, and overall I really enjoyed the experience — even though it was a very long day!
We started at the cenote. We spent around 20–30 minutes with Paul, who explained the layout of the site, shared some interesting insights about Mayan culture, and gave us time to look around the gift shop. After that, we were free to swim and enjoy the cenote at our own pace, which was lovely. Locker and Life vest are 200 Pesos.
Lunch was a good buffet and at the end we had a small tequila tasting, which was okay — not the highlight for me, but still a nice addition.
We then stopped at a nearby town which looked very pretty. Unfortunately, it was raining heavily, so most people stayed on the bus.
After that, we headed to Chichen Itza, where we had about an hour-long guided tour. Kevin explained the main central areas and key points of the site very clearly and after that we had another hour to explore alone.
Be aware that the archaeological site is surrounded by many souvenir sellers, so if you're planning to shop, make sure you bring some cash.
One important tip: the entrance fee to Chichen Itza is 697 MXN. The day before the tour, we were sent a link to pay 44 USD for entry.
With the exchange rate, it would have been cheaper to pay directly at the entrance in pesos. If I had known, I would have done that instead.
A big thank you to Kevin, Ricardo, and Paul for the day. They were caring, funny, and shared lots of information about Mayan culture.
Ricardo, our driver, made us feel very safe, and everything ran on time.
The only slightly stressful part was the pickup. I had requested hotel pickup, but instead I was asked to go to a bus stop about 15 minutes’ walk away. There were many buses there, and I didn’t know which one was mine. In the end, they did arrive on time with a big bus — so don’t worry, they will show up — but it would be helpful if they sent clearer information about how to identify the correct bus.
I had a really enjoyable day and would recommend the tour.

Beto was hands down the most amazing tour guide we've ever had. His passion for the Mayan culture and history is contagious and I found myself hanging on to his every word. His explanations made the stories come to life and he simplified complex ideas with fun examples to share the amazement of Mayan scientific achievements and astronomical discoveries with us, making the experience so much more valuable than just a photo op at the temple. Make sure to pick his brain about all the amazing things he has experienced and learned firsthand on his adventures. His depth of knowledge is astounding and he is a hidden treasure. Beto was an absolute joy and a pleasure to meet. I wish him and the crew nothing but the best in their future endeavors!
The excursion is quite long, so make sure you are prepared with sunblock, sunscreen, hat, plenty of water and maybe a book to read on the ~2.5hr bus ride there and back. The history and cultural details Marcela shared with us made the long drive feel short and she kept our spirits high despite the heat bearing down on us. The extra stops were definitely a bonus -- listen to Marcela and get ice cream while in Valladolid. Delicious.
Carlos was an excellent driver and navigated us safely and comfortably there and back. Thank you all for a wonderful experience!

If you want to know more about the Mayan civilization, this tour is highly recommended. Three claps and the name of the Gods whispers to you.

It was a long day but worth it. We had a driver and 2 guides who were Rodrigos and Alberto. They were very informative about everything. It was an early start which was good because when at the ruins it soon became very hot. We all wore lanyards so it was easy too identify the group.
Lovely cool swim in a Cenote then lunch and tequila tasting . Good value

Tour was amazing. Everything was planned very well and went smoothly. Our tour guide Frank with Amigos Tours is Mayan himself and had great knowledge of all our locations. He was very helpful and funny too.

Our guide Kevin, and our driver Nue were friendly, informative, and timely with our excursion. I booked a 5am staring time (got told pick up was 520am the day before our trip due to pick ups at other hotels), and they were there on the dot. The rest of the trip was very much the same in keeping us on time and making the 10 hours we had as efficient yet fulfilling as possible. We managed to get back to our hotel around 4pm too which was nice. Kevin also made sure our travel time on the bus was filled with extra local information as well which was nice in that we had more time to just explore the places we were brought to. The lunch buffet was fairly limited in options, but filling after two hours in the sun at the pyramid site. Cenote was amazing and the limpia ritual we were surprised with was relaxing. Valladolid was an extremely short trip, but an amazing town with great coffee at Antigua- we wish we could’ve stayed longer but I understand that stopping a large shuttle bus in those narrow streets for hours is not possible. Overall, a fun (but long and tiring- in a good way!) trip. Highly recommend. Shout out to our guide Kevin and driver Nue once again!

My sisters and I loved this tour! We got the VIP tour which included pick up from where we stayed and drop off. The entire tour was well managed! The tour guides and bus driver did a fabulous job. I was thoroughly impressed with how much I learned about the Mayan culture from our tour guide Kevin. I would 100% recommend this tour to anyone.

We enjoyed the variety of experiences. It made the longer tour time more enjoyable as it broke down the travel time. The coach bus was comfortable and I appreciated that it had a washroom. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and gave us helpful tips for avoiding tourist traps. The pricing at the cenote was different than the pricing listed online for life jackets and lockers (double). The lunch did not feel worth the $25 CAD per person that was added to our ticket price. Especially since it did not include drinks (not even water). Our transportation from our resort was on time both ways and every aspect of the tour felt very safe and organized.

The trip was absolutely amazing and covers the big sight seeing musts whilst visiting! We visited the Chichen Itza first, went onto visit a Cenote - had tequila tasting and lunch and finally visited a small village and had lovely ice cream! Marcela and Rae, are informative and so upbeat you will struggle not to smile on this trip!

This tour was the highlight of our Cancun holiday. Amigo Tours ran everything smoothly, and the team made the day special. Gustavo kept us comfortable on the road, while Audi and Johnny Cash brought the sites to life with their knowledge and energy. Chichen Itza was incredible, and swimming in the cenote was pure fun. If you’re in Cancun, book this tour—and don’t forget to tip the guides, they truly deserve it.

We waited for an hour and a half and noone came to pick us up. I emailed Viator but never heard back. This was from Amigo tours. Totally sucked waking up that early and waiting forever while so any other tour busses came and picked people up. Threw a huge wrench into our plans for the week. Just Boo

Really good experience, very busy day. Beto was a brilliant guide with the help of Daniel and Rodrigo. Would definitely advise the 5am pick up as it was good to get to Chichen Itza before it got to hot and busy.

Here’s a clean, short version that still feels warm and genuine:
Great tour overall. Kevin was an excellent guide, knowledgeable, organized, and engaging throughout the day. Our driver Noel kept everything smooth and safe on the long trip. Really well‑run experience and definitely worth it.

We had such a great day on this tour! Juam was super funny and got the energy up on the bus and was super informative about the Mayan history of Cancun.
Ricardo was amazing taking us around Chichén Itzá and detailing the mythology and the histories of the site.
The food at the cenote was also super tasty, which we were pleasantly surprised by. It is a long day out, but definitely worth it thanks to the amazing team. Would definitely recommend!

Great trip, with 99%of the trip was successful, perfect timing and schedule with good guides for english.
Niladri_S, Mar 2026
Best part of our tour was the guide (Ricardo) and the driver. Ricardo was immaculate with every little detail from beginning till the end, taking care of our group like we were family. Overall, it was a great experience- I will just suggest that the lunch be improved a little bit with at least water included.
Shalan_B, Mar 2026
The experience was nice. The guides were funny but did too much talking and took up a lot of time while in Chichén Itzá. Lunch and the Cenote was rushed. The tour needs to cut out additional stops and give more time at the Cenote and for lunch.
Atchaporn_F, Mar 2026
Superrrrr awesome tour! A great mix of guided tour and the freedom to explore on our own! Tour guides Juam, Frank, and Armando worked as a great team to keep us safe, shared their cultural knowledge with us, and were generally helpful and funny!
Angelina_K, Mar 2026
We had so much fun !! Absolutely loved it. Fabian kept it a very smooth drive. Alberto and Rodrigo were amazing guides, sharing very interesting information and were also very funny. The sites were so cool, cenote was gorgeous, and overall the day was perfect ! I do recommend bringing snacks for the day.

Great experience, but felt a little rushed. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and entertaining. The ruins was our favorite place and wish we had more time there.

Tomas is an excellent tour guide, very knowledgeable about the site and its cultural history. Rene is a great driver.

Thomas’s stellar performance in producing a clean and uninterrupted understanding of the culture and history of chichen itza was truly remarkable and he is honestly the best tour guide you could possibly ask for.

Very nice and informative tour. Our tour guide, Rey, took good care of everyone. We really enjoyed and highly recommend.
Wenqian_H, Mar 2026
The tour was a wonderful experience. The tour guide Carlos was very knowledgeable about the Mayan history and entertaining to make the three hour drive feel short. The cenote and Mayan ceremony were also very fun and enlightening. We also appreciate our driver Jibran's dedication and patience. We would recommend the tour to anybody wanting to learn about Mayan history in an immersive experience.
Claire_T, Mar 2026
Juam was very friendly and was a knowledgeable guide. Transportation was great as well, considering that my friends and I had extra transportation arranged from our hotel since it was further than the hotels of the rest of the guests on the tour. Activities had a good balance of guided tour and free time as well. Got to see so many great sights in a single day so definitely recommend!
ManTo_L, Mar 2026
The staff are professional. Everything went smoothly. Everyone is having fun and enjoying themselves.
Aravind_A, Mar 2026
It was a great experience with Ramiro and Diego the driver. Ramiro explained the process and next steps throughout the trip. We went early to Chichen Itza before the crowd came. Overall we enjoyed the trip. Ramiro knows lots about the historical place and the community around it.
Matthew_G, Mar 2026
We booked the VIP option for the advertised “pick-up at your hotel in Cancun or Riviera Maya.” However, the booking system only allowed selection from a limited list of hotels and did not allow us to enter our actual accommodation. We selected the closest option, which was a 25-minute walk away.
Immediately after booking (3 days before), we contacted the operator to request pickup from our accommodation, as included in the VIP ticket. They asked for our address that day and we provided it straight away, assuming this was confirmed. They then wrote back the afternoon before the tour to advise they do not pick up from Airbnbs. We then asked to be picked up from a well-known hotel next door, but were told it was not on their list and could not be done.
Because this was only clarified <24 hours before, we had no opportunity to cancel or make alternative arrangements. On the day, we walked 25 minutes to the pickup hotel, only to be driven to a central meeting point that was actually closer to our accommodation. It was disappointing to pay extra for a “hotel pickup” service that was not meaningfully provided and actually further inconvenienced us.
Despite requesting a partial refund and multiple attempts to resolve this with both the operator and Viator, this was declined.
Frank, our guide, was friendly and informative, and the tour itself was enjoyable. However, the pickup issue impacted the overall experience.
Those with mobility concerns, or expecting direct accommodation pickup, should be aware this may not be suitable.
Response from Host, Mar 2026
Dear Matthew,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We sincerely regret the inconvenience caused regarding the pickup arrangements. Please note that all information related to pickup locations and conditions is clearly detailed on the website prior to booking, and we always recommend reviewing this information carefully.
Due to company policies, pickups are not always conducted directly at each accommodation; however, this is specified in a clear and transparent manner on the platform before confirming any reservation.
We appreciate your kind words about Frank and are glad to know you enjoyed the tour overall. Your comments are valuable and will help us continue improving our service.
Best Regards from the Quality Department of amigo tours- Claudia
