Very nice. Elli was our tour guide and she was fabulous! Gave us more facts than one could remember but was not over bearing!
She made sure our needs were met at all times.
The tour should be an hour longer to allow time for hiking, shopping and eating. Found this to be a shortcoming.
For the priced paid the tour ought to provide small samples of cheese, nuts and perhaps very small bottle of local wine for one to taste. It can highlight the vendors so we can go there and buy their products.
Other than that, it is highly recommended!
Beautiful experience must see one thing should of happen that the tour lady should of mentioned the ticket bout the black madana statue and get them ready

The bus ride out to Monserrat and the rail ride up to the monastery was very convenient. The tour guide was informative and organized. There was also sufficient free time to walk around, take in the sights and visit the museum. We were also able to hear the boy’s choir’s enchanting performance (15 minutes or so). Note that this tour does not include seeing the black madonna.
When I bought the Montserrat tickets, you said the choir would be performing; you sell tickets by lying to customers—the choir is on break from June to September, and that’s how you make money, by deceiving people. This is the first time I’ve bought through Viator, but it’s also the last; you are shameless
Absolutely fantastic day trip. Our guide was exceptional in knowledge, amount of sharing, and genuine friendliness. Only problem is we thought we booked the inclusion of a boys choir concert but they are in school holiday…
This tour is very misleading. I booked with the sole purpose of experiencing the Children’s choir. But the children aren’t doing performances during the summer months. This page does not say anything about no summer performances, it only specifies unavailability on the weekends. How is a foreigner supposed to know when the choir schedule is? If a tour is being offered, I assume it is because it is available. Aside from acknowledging the wording is misleading, Catalunya Bus Turistic did not do anything to make this right. They told me they have tried to contact Viator to update choir availability specifications but Viator won’t do it. Not sure I believe that. I believe I had a valid reason to be refunded but was denied by both Viator and the Catalunya Bus Turistic company.
The tour itself was fine but very basic. I felt the tour guide had a very surface level of information. I have already been to Montserrat with a different tour company and enjoyed the experience much more then. In this tour…They will get you from point A to B, you get to see monastery and basilica, etc. But the first tour I did with a different company, the tour guides included so many more details and interesting pieces of information.
Wow, what a holy place. We felt filled with emotion when we went into the church sitting watching a choir practice. The choir’s voices were beautiful and sounded throughout the basilica. Our guide Mark was so knowledgeable about Montserrat and Barcelona. He also invited us to ask about other parts of Spain and Europe we may be interested in. It was apparent that he loves what he’s doing! Thank you Mark! Thank you Francisco for getting us safely everywhere!
I'll start by saying that my family and I have booked many Viator trips in the past without incident. However the trip we booked to Monserrat was a disaster. We booked a 9 a.m. trip, we typically arrive early to eeach tour we book, however there have been times where we were a few minutes late and never had an issue. That said this was not one of those times. We arrived via taxi by about 8:45 or 8:50 a.m. at the latest and proceeded to the designated stall to find no bus, just two cones. We looked around for a couple of minutes to see if the bus we were supposed to take was at a different stall. No luck so we went inside the depot to ask an agent if they knew where the bus may be. No one knew so at this point we called the contact number for the company. We were informed that the bus had left (mind you we are a family of four spending over $300 for this tour and did not receive a call or text asking where we were). He then asks us why we were calling for the first time at 9:05. We explained we were looking for the bus, no one at the depot could help and we called as soon as we realized that there was a problem. The agent we talked to from the tour company (not viatour) told us we were supposed to be at the bus 20 minutes prior to departure (this was nowhere to be found on the confirmation email, regardless we were still at least 10 minutes early). He did offer to reschedule to the next day. Unfortunately we had other tours lined up for the rest of our time in Barcelona and asked for a refund. We were denied and were told because we called after the departure time they would not refund even partially. We planned to call viatour after we got back to our hotel later that day. We talked to an agent and explained what happened and were put on hold while they spoke to the tour operator. When the viatpur representative came back on the line we were told that the tour operator received a phone call from us stating that we were running 10 minutes late and they told us they had to leave. This was either a complete fabrication or they were confusing our fsmily with someone else becasue a. We never called saying we were running late (as we were at least 10 minutes early) and b. That morning they had questioned us as to why we called at 9:05 for the first time. So which was it? We called early or late?? We asked Viatour if they would provide the exact time the bus departed and they could not or would not tell us. We asked Viatour for a refund but had to upload documents proving we were early (we took a cab and paid cash with no receipt or time stamp) and subsequently received an email denying even a partial refund. Again the fact that the tour would depart without four guests and not reach out via phone or text boggles my mind. We know for a fact that the bus left early and we could not ve more dissapointed that even a partial refund was not issued. If I could give this 0 stars I would
Recommend that Montserrat be a must-visit activity for anyone visiting Barcelona. We particularly enjoyed the boys’ choir.
Do not expect to actually see the Boy's Choir. They travel all the time.
It is a long day. Expect lines for lunch and limited seating except at the Cafeteria.

Disappointed the Boys choir was not there to sing. The tour overall could be shortened by at least an hour.
Walking and stairs are significant. Can be very crowded. Boy's Choir is a must. Food options available on site.
Nuri was fantastic! Very knowledgeable, took the time to get to know the participants of the tour. I have mobility issues and she pointed out the less strenuous paths. Frank the driver was also very courteous and made sure I got on and off the bus safely. Would most definitely recommend the tour and Nuri and Frank.
We showed up at the bus station early but found our experience cancelled due to nobody signed up. We presented our confirmation from Viator!! The tour company personnel at the station immediately booked us for the following day instead-very helpful. The tour itself was very good and our guide was outstanding. Luckily we he’d time to switch our schedules around. I recommend you contact the local tour company that Viator books with to make certain there is no communication issue!

Fabulous experience with Nuri as our guide. She was well prepared and knowledgeable about Spain, Barcelona, and Montserrat. She gave us plenty of free time to explore on our own following a detailed orientation and introduction to the monastery. Highly recommend!
It was a bit hard to find the bus. The bay number was changed and we were not notified. Glad we arrived early! The guide was excellent. Tour was structured for plenty of free time. Attending the Boys Choir was the highlight.

Our guide Nuryi was wonderful and very knowledgeable. We did the “complete” tour. After a bus ride and short train ride, you arrive at Montserrat. We had time to do the museum, walk to St Michael’s cross, and see the local farmer’s market. Our tour included the basilica and boy’s choir (which was very nice). As stated in other reviews, it gets quite crowded during the performance. While in the Basilica, you can see the black Madonna at a distance, but you don’t have the opportunity to go behind the altar area and view it. Other than that detail, it was a pleasant way to spend a 1/2 day.
This was a magnificent place to visit. We signed up for English tour but ended up having to listen to dual descriptions on the bus ride. The only change I would make is to distribute tickets to the choir event in advance to allow going earlier for seating. We had to wait for tour guide and by the time we entered there were only scattered seats in the last 3 rows. The audience stands for 2 of the 3 songs so we didn’t really see any of the performance. It sounded great.
The bus trip was relaxing and Marta, the guide, gave us a lot of information. Montserrat is a beautiful place. The Basilica was lovely and we were happy to get to hear the Boys Choir. We also enjoyed our time visiting the art museum.
This is the tour to take for Monserrat! So thankful we heard the boys choir. Their voices were angelic. You will have time to take the funicular after the choir and basilica. We also went to the museum which was mostly art. Our driver John was excellent as Barcelona had heavy rain in the AM. Guide gave us the option to rebook but we’d checked the weather and d Monserrat was to be fine. It was cold in November so bring layers. Guide Alva was knowledgeable and very kind to my husband and I. He is 94 and walks slowly. As we had been here in 2013 for basilica and Madonna this was a nice change. Strongly recommend this tour
Be aware of the this tour. Boy choir event cancellation was informed when we reached at the bus stand. Going near black Madonna was canceled too and was told to us when we went inside the church.
We felt cheated because 2 of the key events were cancelled and Information was shared with us at last moment.
Please book other cheap tours instead of this one.

When I complained to Viator about my experience their response was Sorry.
