Itinerary

The full-day tour begins with pickup at your Barcelona accommodation and a drive south along the Costa Dorada to the ancient city of Tarragona. Called Tarraco during the days of the Roman Empire, this was one of the main cities of ancient Hispania and bears archaeological traces of its stately past through well-preserved ruins.

Explore the UNESCO World Heritage–listed complex with your guide, listening to tales of power and glory as you visit the ancient city walls, Roman Forum, and shoreline amphitheater that dates back to the 2nd century.

Travel back into the modern era as you head up the coast to Sitges, a charming fishing town that was once a popular health tourism destination thanks to its proximity to both sea and mountains. Take a walking tour through the winding streets of the old town center, passing landmarks including the church of San Bartolomé and Santa Tecla, and Modernist gems such as Casa Bacardi.

Unique shops, restaurants, and live music lend Sitges a bohemian and artistic atmosphere that spills out onto the sandy shores of San Sebastian Beach. Spend some time admiring the view from a beachside terrace or perhaps taking a dip in the Mediterranean waters before the return drive to Barcelona.

Our guide (Diego) was extremely friendly and a very interesting man, but he talked incessantly. Like literally an hour and twenty minutes nonstop from Badalona to Tarragona. Time management was also questionable - we left Tarragona at 2:45 and drive an hour to Sitges without having had an opportunity to eat lunch first. That's late even by Spanish standards.

Tarragona and Sitges

Patricia_D, Jul 2026
Tarragona was my favorite!!! What a beautiful town with amazing history and warm, bright energy. Sitges and the old church at the seaside beautiful also. Our tour guide Diego was so positive, passionate to teach us about each place that we stopped. I would definitely recommend this tour ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

It was a very nice experience outside of Barcelona, the tour guide handled the driving and guiding very well. Lluis was very knowledgeable. The only thing that I wasn't thrilled about was the early pick up while we drove around for almost an hour to pick up 2 others.

Tarragona

WILLIAM_E, Jul 2026
The only criticism I have for this tour is that although it was a small group of six people and a very nicely sized van, the driver did not have a speaker in the van and was speaking to us with a very soft voice. We did ask him to speak louder but he was not able to. When we were able to hear him, the content was excellent, however, it seemed that he could have easily had a microphone in the van. This is our only criticism of otherwise a very complete and comprehensive tour of the sites on our itinerary. We could have easily organized for ourselves walking tours of these sites and would have had the ability to hear from a guide, however, we chose this route and we hope that in the future the tour operator provides the driver with the ability to converse at a volume which will allow all the riders in the van to hear his content.

Excellent Tour with Excellent Customer service!

Giona_C, Jul 2026
Was called the night before for pickup instructions. On the day of pickup, was very punctual. Our tour guide Diego was very knowledgeable, our tour was in English but he also knows Spanish and Catalan. Very kind and warm, the tour felt very personal although it was a group tour, Diego went above and beyond navigating through places, giving us information of the sites and history. We even went inside a church at Terragona and one of the locals even gave Diego and us more info on they're small town and church history. The tour was definitely worth it. Will recommend to future travelers.

Little Rome in Spain

Annette_p, Jun 2026
Lluis made Tarragona come alive. From the ancient Roman sites to modern Tarragona you could see yourself living there. Sitges was beautiful and the expanded lunch break was awesome. Thanks

Our guide was funny and friendly. The tour was 8 people mixed Spanish and English. The only issue is the description says entrance to 2 of the Tarragona attractions and we did not go into those as part of the tour. Tour was about 8-9 hours total with traffic on the way back.

Beautiful tour south of areas south Barcelona

charles_b, May 2026
Very informative, beautiful scenery, moved at a reasonable pace. Be prepared to do a bit of walking. Bring sun protection.

Lluis was a great guide!

Diana_H, May 2026
Great tour, full of history and lots of information shared by our guide Lluis. I was part of a mini group and really felt like a personalized tour. You can tell Lluis is passionate about the history of Spain and he shared with us lots of interesting facts about Tarragona, this city was the highlight of the tour! I recommend it!

You get a better experience with a small tour group. Miquel was full of knowledge and extremely pleasant. He had a great personality as well. We learned a lot about this old city and enjoyed his recommendation for a great Italian restaurant in Sitges!

Do not miss this trip

William_M, May 2026
We had a wonderful time on mother's day and it made the holiday for my wife. Eduardo was AMAZING! He knew so much of the history of the cities and how to get in and out of things efficiently while keeping it both informative and exciting. Gave us great tips for lunch and knew every restroom stop around. He even stopped at an Aqueduct that is better than most we have seen in Italy. Book this for a fun day and ask for Eduardo

Day Trip out of Barcelona

April_C, May 2026
Had a fun day with Eduardo as our guide. People I met on the tour were nice. Enjoyed visiting both Tarragon and Sitges.

Ruins and the Sea

BONNIE_T, May 2026
This tour involved more walking than we expected at the ruins-which was a little exhausting as a start. Wish that we had had more free time at Stiges to just enjoy the sea and beauty. Knowledgeable guide but in 3-seater van hard to hear. A microphone would have helped immensely.

Nice day tour from Barcelona

Experience places & sights with Miquel

SandraJ_C, Apr 2026
Get ready for small group fantastic packed tour. Wear some comfortable shoe, I would not suggest sandals because of the rocky terrain; but you will see the aqueduct up close. Miquel lead us with amazing information throughout our trip. Ask him about the “Humphrey” joke lol! He’s a pretty good photographer too. Thanks Uncle Mike

Great day trip to Tarragona and Sitges.

Venu_R, Apr 2026
Eduardo was a really good guide, kept the whole day fun and interesting. He is a good story teller on top of being a very good guide. Wish we had more time in Tarragona.

Awesome time. Would definitely recommend

Sherry_W, Apr 2026
Tour was fantastic. Vincent, our tour guide was a total gem. Picked us up on time and was very knowledgeable about the area. There was only 5 people in our group. The pace of the day was spot on. We were not rushed and saw amazing architecture and sights. I highly recommend Vincent - we could not have asked for a better experience. Lunch and the gelato by the sea in Sitiges was great as well.

Great day out with a wonderful driver!

Geof_J, Apr 2026
Such a glorious day out of Barcelona city. Our guide, Miquel - an exemplary driver by the way - was fun, very knowledgeable and didn’t tire once, despite having to chaperone eight of us. Thoroughly recommend this trip.

A little history a little beach.

Christine_M, Apr 2026
This tour was wonderful. A great day away from the city to see the Roman influence in Spain and an afternoon by the coast. Our guide Lluis was laid back and very informative about the history.

Great day out

Catherine_A, Apr 2026
Great day out, very well organized, driving in quality van with knowledgeable guide Luis. The day was well paced with interesting stops, time to eat, sightseeing and learning. Tarragona was beautiful and a nice change from Barcelona. The aqueduct is fascinating and the amphitheater was awesome. Sitges by the sea was great to wander around and explore. It has a quaint atmosphere with a mix of beaches and old town houses and shopping.

E(xcepcional )duardo! You’re gonna love it❤️

Candice_D, Apr 2026
I’m 70 and was a bit timid to head out alone but I am SO HAPPY I did. And even more happy to have gotten Eduardo for our guide! Aside from the standard historical information, he provided translations , taught us popular dichos, gently encouraged our Spanish and was preciously attentive to everyone ( from this “vintage” [Eduardo’s adjective, ha!]) to the wee girl in the group. It was an informative, entertaining, delicious and delightful day!! (and, Eduardo, Mick would be sooo impressed!) Thank you, thank you… er, I mean, Muchisimas gracias!!

This tour was the BEST!

Karen_T, Apr 2026
We loved every minute of this tour with Ramón! He was very professional and had so much pride in his heritage. He clearly knew just about everything there was to know about the history of each site and was eager to share and answer our questions. We were awestruck by the opportunity to see ancient Roman aqueducts and amphitheaters in the same day trip with a visit to a beautiful beachside community. I cannot recommend Ramón and this tour highly enough! It was truly amazing from beginning to end thanks to Ramón.

Boston here! Highly recommend!!

We had an absolutely fantastic full-day tour with our guide, Diego! Our day began with an 8:00 AM pickup in El Born, and from start to finish everything was seamless, engaging, and beautifully paced. We explored the stunning coastal history of Tarragona and the charm and relaxed seaside vibe of Sitges before returning to our original pickup spot at 8:45 PM — tired in the best possible way after such a memorable day. Along the way, we visited the incredible Ferreres Aqueduct, the fascinating Roman Circus of Tarragona, and the breathtaking Tarragona Amphitheatre. We also strolled along La Rambla Nova, learned of the cultural tradition of Castellers, and wandered through the beautiful old town, including a visit to the stunning Tarragona Cathedral. Our group was wonderful and truly made the experience even more special — Roman from Germany, Kathie from the Philippines, Michele and Beth from Boston, Francesca and Brandon from New York, and a lovely couple from Limerick, Ireland. One of the highlights was an amazing lunch at Toful where we enjoyed an incredible variety of tapas. The sepia (fried squid) and cod were absolutely delicious — we highly recommend! Diego was knowledgeable, personable, and made sure everyone felt included throughout the day. This was truly one of the highlights of our trip!
