The stories and food are memorable!!

Gladys_S, Mar 2026
Even though it’s a shared, set menu, the portions are very generous with enough variety to suit any palette. Alex was entertaining and thoughtful. Loved the way she captivated us with the inside historical drama of the area.

Excellent Tour. Our guide Alex was extremely knowledgeable of both food and NZ. We had landed that morning and it was a perfect way to start our trip. HIGHLY recommend.

Excellent food experience! Thanks Alex!

This is an excellent food tour! Not too much, so you didn't feel bloated...the food was delicious especially the meat pie...and our guide, Alex, was outstanding! Her passion for food and 5th generation history of New Zealand helps make it an outstanding food tour! Thank you Alex!

Response from Host, Jan 2026

Nga mihi, thank you Henry. Alex started her career as a chef so loves sharing the NZ food story on this yummy Aucky Walky tour. All our guides just happen to be NZ-born which adds an authentic flavour to every tour.

The Best Food Tour in Auckland!

Grace_D, Mar 2025
Debbie was our tour guide for the Auckland Food Walking Tour. My family and I have tried food tours all over the world; this was one of our favorites. Debbie is very knowledgeable about Auckland’s history, Māori culture, and the best quality food the city has to offer. We learned a lot. had the best time, and ate the most delicious food made with the freshest ingredients. We had yummy lamb kabobs, fish, venison pie, mussels, ice cream, and chocolate. We learned something interesting at each of the stops. Debbie even took us to two grocery shops to pick up Auckland candies and drinks we wanted to try. I highly recommend this food tour and guide.

Response from Host, Mar 2025

Wow Grace, such an awesome recap of your private Taste Auckland food tour. Thank you, nga mihi for discovering the yummy side of the city with our friendly guide, Debbie. She enjoyed your company too.

Do this one!

Jean_E, Mar 2025
This tour was fantastic! Our tour guide (I think her name was Alex?) used to be a chef and knew the places to go! The food was incredible! We were in a food coma the rest of the evening! Would rate this higher if I could!

Response from Host, Mar 2025

That's awesome Jean, yes Alex loves what she does. As a passionate foody, former Chef and local Aucklander, she is the ideal guide to unlock the city's delicious food scene for visitors. Thanks for "'coma-ing"our way! :)

Great food tour

Ellen_A, Mar 2025
Did the Auckland food tour with Alex as our guide. We visited some local favorites and sampled their amazing sea food and other favorites. We also had their famous Hokey Pokey ice cream. Absolutely delicious! Alex gave us history and showed us the neighborhood sights. She was a former chef. The food was delicious and plentiful.

Response from Host, Mar 2025

Nice one Ellen! We're so pleased you enjoyed our yummy 'food safari'' with food-lover Alex. With a large dose of history, culture and insider information the icing on the cake! Thanks for doing an Aucky Walky on your visit.

A great and easy way to orient yourself to the city with many insider tips and info

Mary_P, Mar 2025
We learned so much about Auckland's history & food culture on this tour! It was an excellent way to orient ourselves in the downtown / CBD area and our guide was AMAZING! I would do this tour again if I'm in Auckland.

Response from Host, Mar 2025

Thank you Mary, all our Aucky Walky guides are amazing because they love showing off the beauty and hidden secrets of central Auckland. Which so many visitors miss. We hope to host you again soon and that NZ has been an enjoyable destination.

Upscale food tour in auckland

Lyndee_S, Feb 2025
I’ve been on food tours all over the world, and this was one of the most delicious. Debbie was a fantastic host and provided just enough context about what we were eating, how it related to New Zealand specifically, and the purveyor. We enjoyed upscale bites of lamb, fish, mussels, venison pie, chocolate and gelato! We had a nice time chatting with the fellow travelers and got great tips from all from their South Island travels. Highly recommended!

Response from Host, Feb 2025

Awesome Lyndee, such kind words thank you. 'World leading' foody experience woo hoo! Our food tours aren't posh fine dining but good hearty NZ fare which us locals love. And we love looking after our guests. Safe travels to you.

Great Food and Conversation!

Benjamin_E, Mar 2024
My wife and I had a great time learning about the Auckland food scene with Liz. She took us to some off-the-beaten path places that were excellent. She also threw in detour stops to make sure we checked off some New Zealand favorites. It was a great way to spend the day and learn about other things to do in Auckland as well.

Fantastic, informative, delicious food tour

Debbie_D, Feb 2024
What a fantastic food tour! Liz picked wonderful locally owned restaurants to visit. The food was delicious and quite plentiful. Not only did we get plenty of good food, but lots of great information about Aukland and New Zealand- the history, recommendations of things to see, do and eat. I would highly recommend this trip to those who want a relaxed, delicious, informative introduction to Auckland - the food, history and culture.

Great tour

Elizabeth_H, Jan 2024
Liz was fantastic!!!! The places she took us and the information she shared were all great. I learned not only about Aukland but specific food.

Liz was amazing and the food was too!

Chase_G, Jul 2023
Liz was phenomenal. It was a lot of fun, awesome variety of food and it was all good!!! Got to try some Auckland staples which turned out perfect! I can’t emphasize how much we liked Liz!

Wonderful food and company

ChristinaMunro, Mar 2023
Liz was absolutely amazing. My mother and I thoroughly enjoyed it. She quickly adjusted some of the foods to fit my mom's palette which was not expected but very appreciated. She's very passionate about her city and its heritage. A definite must.

Response from Host, Mar 2023

Hey you two lovely Canadians, hope the cruise is going well with plenty of bangers & mash :) Thanks C for posting a review - it was our pleasure looking after you both. The beauty of keeping our tours small and our in-depth city knowledge is the ability to tailor tours on the spot. No 'same ole, same ole' here! Wishing you a memorable time with your Mum, plus safe and fun travels. L x

Great way to find out about the city

M8030UIpatricias, Jan 2020
Fabulous food and wonderful guide! History and geography included...and the food was wonderful! Thank-you so much!

Response from Host, Jan 2020

Our pleasure, thank you for coming and posting your review. Agree that this tour includes so much more than Auckland's delicious food. We love helping visitors find their feet on arrival - do this the first day in town, others say!

Delicious way to see Auckland!

Kelly_A, Nov 2019
Great tour guide, saw Auckland attractions while sampling food along the way. Went to out of the way eateries and had a choice of food so it appealed to everyone

Aucky Walky Tour

Janet_P, Apr 2019
We thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Liz was friendly, informative and gave us a lot of history about the area and culture as well as trying good food I would have never found on my own! It made for a great first day in Auckland and we got good ideas for other restaurants to try in the area. I would highly recommend!

Nice tour of the...

Norbert_F, Nov 2025
Nice tour of the city with general explanations. The food in the 2 restaurants was ok.. The 2 chocolates at the chocolatier and the ice cream in the ice cream parlor was very good. However, the exquisite and very good restaurants were only described in passing. Would have liked to try a small mixed plate here too. Drinks had to be paid extra. Price quality ratio a bit poor. The guide had tried very hard.

Response from Host, Nov 2025

We're glad you enjoyed the professionalism of both our expert guides and the tasty dishes on your small-group food tour. Rather than 5-star fine dining, we focus on the tucked-away, locally owned restaurants which Aucklanders love. These delicious eateries in the heart of the city, often miss out on the visitor dollar. And open their kitchens for our mid-afternoon tour. Supporting the little guys, also keeps our tours affordable relative to similar top-rated food tours in large European cities. (We internationally benchmark our pricing, after allowing for this booking engine's sizable cut and NZ government sales tax.) Guests typically review that they leave full to the brim with great NZ kai/food. We state that drinks are excluded (at time of booking) to keep our tour price affordable and also appeal to non-drinkers. Wishing your safe travels in NZ and thanks for booking our Aucky Walky food tour.
