-We pickup from all accommodations in Athens. For the area of airport pickup/drop off there is extra charge, please contact us. -Recommended outfit for women is long skirt or long dress. If you do not have, they will give you there a scarf to put on your waist, ( 3€ charge ) or if you have one you can do the same. For men is advisable to wear long pants. Also the monasteries do not accept cards so please have cash with you. It is 5€ per person per monastery.

Long drive, but our driver Harry made it go by quickly! The Monasteries are well worth the drive and beautiful. Be aware there ate are a crazy amount of stairs.

100/10 recommend this Tour! Our guide Theo went above and beyond. He was lovely to talk to and I had messaged the couple letting them know I was planning to propose to my partner, they relayed the message to my guide and Theo found the perfect spot for it and took photos of the proposal! Couldn’t have been a more perfect day!

We could not ask for a better guide. In addition to being so knowledgeable about the area, Theo was so thoughtful. Went above and beyond to help with my fear of heights and was an absolute pleasure to spend our day with.

I was nervous about being in a car for three plus hours each way. Melina immediately changed that for me as we had such an engaging conversation about Greek history, Meteora, and the places we saw along the way. I barely noticed how long the drive was. Melina is knowledgeable and prepare me and my cousin very well for what we would see in the monasteries. Melina also had an unusual experience as my Greek family showed up and took us out for lunch. She blended right into that experience. I am very glad I did this tour with Melina as it cut the long commute into a very enjoyable day.

We had a fantastic experience touring the Meteora monasteries with our driver, Dimitris Kakokefalos.
The wonderful experience started with Dimitris. He met us on time with a clean, comfortable vehicle and immediately made us feel welcome. During the three-hour drive to Meteora, he shared a wealth of interesting information about the area, the history, and the places we would be visiting.
Dimitris was not only knowledgeable, but also exceptionally attentive to our needs. He went out of his way to make sure our group of four adults was comfortable and well looked after, providing extra assistance whenever needed.
His driving was excellent—smooth, safe, and comfortable—which made the long journey to Meteora feel surprisingly relaxing. His professionalism, kindness, and attention to detail contributed greatly to what was a memorable day.
We would highly recommend Dimitris to anyone visiting Meteora. He was an excellent driver and a wonderful companion throughout the journey.

From beginning to end, our day trip was a very pleasant and educational experience!

It was approximately a little less than a four hour car ride each way, but the experience was totally worth it. Our driver Georgios was friendly and very informative, and his car was quite comfortable. He was very accommodating as far as stopping whenever we wanted for food or photo shoots at scenic locations. We visited three different monasteries, and while we had a favorite, each one was most enjoyable. The views were terrific and the monasteries were so interesting. It was a once in a lifetime experience for us, and we are very happy we decided to include this trip in our itinerary'

Going to Meteora from Athens is a time commitment, but we would say it's well worth the journey. The monasteries focus on a period of Greek history -- the 14th c. on -- that gives visitors a look at something different from the ancient. Perched on high rocks cliffs, the monasteries are spirtual and otherworldly. Any photos you or anyone takes will be a completely inadequate representation of what you see with your own eyes.
Yes, the drive there and back takes a long time, but the countryside reminded us a lot of Southern California and is pretty to look at.

It was a long day but it was worth it! The trip/tour was a great experience. We were picked up and dropped off at our hotel which made it really easy. The car was very comfortable and our driver was great. Dimitris was extremely knowledgeable regarding the history, economy and daily life in Greece. We definitely learned a lot during our tour. Meteora is so beautiful! It was an amazing, unforgettable experience. It was so worth it!

For a day trip to Meteora Monasteries from Athens, engaging a private driver is highly recommended. Our experience was exceptional, with Jason arriving punctually and proving to be a courteous and knowledgeable guide. He facilitated engaging conversations, ensured safe transportation, and adhered to a leisurely schedule, allowing us to visit three monasteries and a prominent viewing platform with breathtaking views of five of the six operational monasteries. The lunch arrangement at a local restaurant was commendable, serving traditional Greek cuisine at a reasonable price. On our return to Athens, we made a memorable stop at the iconic King Leonidas statue. Despite the lengthy journey, we felt relaxed upon arrival, underscoring the benefits of private transportation for long distances, particularly for travelers with limited time in Athens who wish to explore key attractions without the fatigue associated with public or group transport. A valuable tip for prospective visitors is to conduct prior research on the sites to optimize their time and experience at each landmark.

This was a perfect day to Meteora! Drive was long but Theo made it great! He treated us like family and made the long drive fun. Meteora is like a whole other world! It is beautiful and amazing! The lunch spot he recommended was fantastic!!

Wow, a very long travel day from Athens but, oh so worth it! Got to see 2 monasteries and a nunnery. Had lunch and then drove back to Athens! Spectacular scenery-unlike anything I’ve ever seen before!

Our private tour excursion to Meteora was a highlight of our trip. Although it was a long day trip from Athens, we were all happy to have chosen this option. George, our very capable driver and guide, picked us up promptly at our hotel at the scheduled time. The vehicle was a very comfortable Mercedes van. George was engaging, and informative during the trip to and from Meteora, sharing his historical and cultural knowledge. He was attentive to us and made appropriate stops en route. The drive to Meteora was beautiful, and it was a welcome diversion from the busyness of Athens. George was a very pleasant and enjoyable companion with over 20 years experience with this particular tour.
Meteora itself is breathtaking. It is inconceivable how the monasteries and convents were built into the otherworldly landscape.
The area was rife with tourists, even at the shoulder season, but George, being so familiar with the area, navigated us well, and maximized the time we had. We were able to visit each site on our own time which was so relaxed as opposed to a scheduled large group tour.
After our tour was complete we enjoyed a delicious meal at a local restaurant. It was one of the best meals we had in Greece.
It was an unforgettable day, and well worth the expense and time. Highly recommended and not to be missed.

What a wonderful tour. Saw three monasteries, all of which were exceptional. Our driver picked the three with the best ease of access, but that does mean easy climbs. Very well maintained paths and stairs. Our driver, Dimitri was exceptional. He knew his history, the area, and the monasteries. Excellent communication. We highly recommend him.

Fantastic experience visiting the monasteries and Thermopylae with Melina! My wife and our 22 YO daughter thoroughly enjoyed the day, learning the history if the epic Spartan battle, seeing the amazing geological features of Meteora and the monasteries build into the rock formations. This was our first trip to Greece and we couldn’t be happier that we chose this tour. The views of the monasteries were incredible and the tour guide (Nathan) was excellent!
The views of the monasteries, including the caves, were jaw dropping. Nathan’s professionalism, knowledge of Greek history, and sense of humor made this tour even more enjoyable. Take note that you will do steps on this tour. Comfy shoes, extra water bottles, and ‘modest’ dress per the monastery rules are a must. Note that when we were there, all of the monasteries had scarves and skirts to borrow.
Nathan’s lunch suggestion was terrific and we have to agree that the lamb is delicious.
All in all this was a great day and definitely a bucket list tour.
