My family loved this experience! Joy, our tour guide, was great and so was our driver, Andrew. We were a small group, 15 people and traveled in a smaller bus. We would stop at least every 1.5-2 hours for a break.
As we rode through Greece Joy, would tell us about the area. Then, at our destination, she would walk us through the history of the area and give us more insight into the Greek mythology. The tour included tickets to the various sites and museums, and we were grateful that we didn't have to stand in lines to get the tickets and in one case were allowed special entrance to avoid a really long line.
We chose the 4-star hotel and they we ok. I think the hotel, Amalia, was mainly catering group tours. The one thing I really like is that they delivered our luggage to outside our rooms and in the morning picked the up from outside our doors. At them we received a breakfast and dinner, which were served buffet style. The breakfasts were good and the dinners had many Greek dishes. You were on your own for lunch and that occurred while we traveled to our next destination and so, between our tour guide and driver, the lunch place was usually chosen. We were happy with their choices and there was something for everyone on the menu, even a 7-year-old, that was acceptable.

Fantastic experience! One trip covering all the key sites outside Athens. Very knowledgeable guide and very skillful driver! Highly recommended!
Margo_H, Apr 2026
The stops, the history, the guide, were all fantastic. Joy, our guide, was a wealth of information and knowledge about each location as wells as all the questions we asked.
We paid for the upgraded room, but did not get the upgraded room on any night. The only thing that could be improved upon was the food and the rooms.

Everything about this tour was top notch! Jordan, the guide, was so knowledgeable about the history and culture of Greece, and Costas, our driver was skilled. Hotels were nicer than I imagined, and the dinners (included) were delicious.

The tour is very well organized. The guide speaks good English and is very knowledgeable. We learned a lot about Greek history and Greek mythology.

We signed up for a 4 star hotel. We did not get it. I was the same hotel as those that signed up for a 3 star hotel. The food was not good and was more of a 1 star instead of 4 star food. 2 of the nights we had to stay in separate twin dice beds. Definitely not a 4 star room. We were very disappointed on this. However the tour guide was great. Don't pay for a 4 star option when you are really getting a 2 star stay

Dear Michael,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding your recent participation in our 4-day Classical Tour. We sincerely appreciate hearing from our guests, as it allows us to continually improve our services.
After reviewing your comments and investigating the matter, we would like to clarify a few points:
On the dates of your tour, in the bus all guests—including yourself—were accommodated in first-class hotels, as stated in the tour description as we had a separate bus for guests with tourist class accommodation.
The accommodations provided were at Amalia Hotels, all of which are officially classified as 4-star properties. These hotels offer private bathrooms and full hotel facilities.
Your package included buffet dinners, featuring a variety of options such as meat, fish, chicken, salads, and traditional Greek dishes. Please note that tourist-class (2-star) hotels do not offer buffet service and provide only a set menu.
We are genuinely sorry if the hotel experience did not meet your personal expectations, despite matching the category and services advertised. We hope that the historical sites visited and the knowledge shared by your guide made your journey through Greece memorable.
Thank you once again for your feedback.
Warm regards,
Hara

The tour was great! Seeing every important place that is needed to see from ancient Greece perspective. Absolutely amazing were the tour guide and driver! They made the trip better
Cheryl_T, Oct 2025
Very well organised, 4 star Hotels amazing. Sophia the travel guide and Socrates the driver were amazing team and very thoughtful. Lunch restaurants had a good choice of food and dinners were buffet, as was breakfast.

We loved the amount of information we were given on the bus and the tours of the various places. Definitely worth the investment in learning about Classical Greece.
Lo_H, Oct 2025
Good arrangement, nice food, excellent hotel. The tour guide is very knowledgeable. His knowledge of Athen is incredible. Me and my family really enjoyed the tour. Thank you.

What a fantastic trip to see a little bit of Greece (over 2500km), learn so much of the history & myths, and with a small group of travellers.

We had a great experience with this company, CHAT tours for our 4-day tour. It was a small group of about 14 and we had a smaller bus which was great. It was very well organized and the driver was excellent. Our tour guide Jordan was VERY knowledgeable and seemed to love to share his knowledge with the group. It moves quickly and you can expect to be leaving around 8am and returning to a hotel about 7pm. You get a good overview of each place and a small amount of free time at each place. The bus stops often enough for bathroom and snack breaks. Lunches are a bit of a tourist trap and many bus companies go to the same spots. They were ok but a tad expensive. The hotels were all Amelia brand hotels which were likely very grand in their time 40 yrs ago. They are not 4 star hotels by North American standards. More like 2-3 star. They were clean but basic. The one in Delphi had stunning views. The breakfasts and dinners are buffet style at the hotel and they had lots of options and were good. We met lots of great people and had a great time. Highly recommend.

We booked 4-day small group tour. Everything was great. Found that we were mixed with 3-day customers. Okay. Seamless transition? No. Were handed off to another tour company with 4 large buses. Mostly not in English. Little personal attention & in depth commentary. So, not a small group tour. I reached out to CHAT tours and they never responded.

This is a fantastic 4 day land tour of the major ancient sites on the main land of Greece. We did this tour before going on a cruise of the Greek islands. It is well planned out and organized. Our tour guide for the whole 4 days, Xenia, was Amazing! She was a walking scholar on Ancient Greek civilization providing in-depth insights to all the places we visited. We had a small group of 9 people which made moving around places easy. I was unsure about booking a 4 day tour with an unknown tour company but the reviews we read before booking were positive and our experience on the CHAT tour was very positive from the sites we saw, Xenia our awesome tour guide, accommodations, bus driver, Fanasis a kind and safe driver, food and overall great experience. Would highly recommend this tour.

The tour was good and the locations of the sites were truly impressive. Long driving times were tedious. The tour guide worked diligently but was not well informed and not easy to deal with. Rest stops were well timed but the lunch places served their hot food cold. This was not the fault of the tour but was an unfortunate feature. The hotels and and breakfasts and dinners in them were excellent.
Jane_R, Sep 2025
Very informative guide. Lots of walking, cobblestones, marble & rocks. Really interesting sites. Our guide would say “let’s walk & talk”. We followed.
Michelle_M, Sep 2025
I absolutely loved this tour! Our guide, Joy, and driver,Peter, were absolutely fabulous. I learned so much at each stop and they made this solo traveler very comfortable. The accommodations were nice and having the meals included were great as well. The lunch locations chosen were always a hit
10/10 recommend!
GABRIELE_W, Sep 2025
The tour was led by Dimitra a very good Tour Guide who really knew everything about all the ancient sites we visited. This is an excellent way of learning about Greek mythology and the ancient ways
William_C, Sep 2025
This tour was truly the highlight of our vacation! Our guide, Foteini, was absolutely incredible. She kept everything on schedule while being so warm and accommodating. Her knowledge of each site was outstanding—her talks were always engaging, informative, and never boring.
Our driver, Costa, was equally impressive. His skills behind the wheel were unbelievable—navigating narrow roads, sharp hairpin turns, and backing into the tightest parking spots with ease and confidence.
We not only enjoyed the historical sites but also loved the bus rides between them, where we could take in Greece’s beautiful farmland, endless olive trees, and charming seaside towns.
The three hotels we stayed at were comfortable, with traditional Greek breakfasts and dinners. The local restaurants chosen for lunch were wonderful, and for the most part, the food was excellent.
My wife and I highly recommend this tour—it’s worth every bit of the time and cost!

To our family of six, this was an immersive tour in history of Greece and cradle of civilization. Most amazing archiological sites; including: Epidaurus, Mycenae, Olympia, Delphi, Meteora, and a handful of quick yet amazing stops/drive-bys; including monument to Thermopylae, Salamis, Corinthian canal, Nafplion (awesome), etc. The full-tour guide, Joy, was by far the best tour guide/manager we have ever had. Her knowledge, communication, experience, and group-management are superb. While English was the primary language of the group, she was fluent in multiple languages. Beyond the tour sites, and tour guide, the hotels, Amalia Hotels, we stayed on were equally great, super clean, and provided great breakfasts and dinners. Even the stops where we paid for our own lunches were superb. We HIGHLY recommend this tour!! And if by chance you get Joy as your tour guide, you will be in for an amazing experience.
Carol_W, Jun 2025
It was incredibly hot in some of the sites. I brought an umbrella for shade. Although at Mycenae there was thunder and lightning and rain!
Robert_C, Jun 2025
The tour was very enjoyable, with a great guide. While there is a lot of driving we had a great time seeing the sites. Having a pool at each hotel was great given how warm the days were.
In general, where we stopped for lunch was good.
Dario_B, Jun 2025
Great trip! We saw most of Greece. Good balance of touring and driving. Locations were fantastic! Make sure to take a taxi into the towns you stay in, the locals are nice, plenty of shopping, bars and restaurants. The small towns made the trip even better. Hotels have a lot of “character,” they are older but clean. For the price you get a ton of value, but the air conditioning pretty consistent barely kept the rooms cool. Food wise, they do a good job for sure. The food is good, not great, but again value wise, very good. Our tour guide Fotina was amazing. Our driver was great as well. All in all highly - highly recommend, if you want value. If you are looking for luxury this might not be your choice. Expectations were met based on previous reviews we read.
Sandra_P, Jun 2025
Eleni was very knowledgeable and spoke English very well. She was wonderful with all the guests and treated the group like family. We had a wonderful time at each of the sites. Very important to stay hydrated, wear comfortable walking shoes and a hat! The views were spectacular! I would highly recommend the tour!
Anastasios_S, Jun 2025
My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed the tour. Pick up and drop off was simple and the trip itself was fantastic. We were treated to many highlights of the modern and Ancient Greek world. Special mention to our driver Nick and tour guide Maria, who made it a very memorable time. Maria was extremely lovely, knowledgeable, and full of anecdotes relating to the sights we saw. Would definitely recommend!
Ruell_B, Jun 2025
We stayed in a AMALIE hotels for every night and they were clean and comfortable beds. The buffet dinners gave us a great opportunity to try many Greek foods.
Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and never hesitated to answer the many questions we all had.
Randall_A, May 2025
After 2-1/2 great days on a small bus (17 English-speaking passengers in our case) and a great guide, we were piled into a giant 63-seat bus with 54 passengers and one overworked tour guide for the final day-and-a-half. She had to deliver everything (sounded memorized and not necessarily understood) in French and English. Suddenly we were eating in gigantic, loud buffets instead of local restaurants, and stopping at rip-off rest stops. In short we went from being guided, informed and escorted to being herded around. Not fun.
Response from Host, May 2025
Dear Randall,
Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We're truly sorry to hear that the latter part of your tour did not meet your expectations after what began as a positive experience.
We’d like to clarify a few important details that may help explain the change in your experience. As noted on your voucher—under the section preceding “Know Before You Go”—it is clearly stated that on Mondays, the tour operates as a bilingual service (French and English). Your tour on Monday, May 26th, followed this format.
Additionally, as part of the scheduled itinerary, the group transitions in Delphi for the onward journey to Meteora. This change often includes a larger group and a larger bus due to the high demand for this segment.
Regarding the stops and rest breaks: all are scheduled in accordance with Greek law, which regulates mandatory driving hours and rest periods for professional drivers. While we strive to provide authentic and comfortable experiences wherever possible, these stops are not only necessary but required for everyone’s safety.
We genuinely regret that these operational necessities affected your enjoyment of the tour. Our team is constantly working to balance logistics with a high-quality guest experience, and your feedback helps us in this effort.
Thank you again for traveling with us,
Warm regards,
Hara

It was absolutely wonderful in every way. Maria was our guide and she was very passionate about the history of each place we visited. Yannis the driver was a so accommodating but mostly a very safe driver. The scenery was breathtaking! A full 4 days of adventure and dropped right back to our hotel in Athens. The food was great and they stop for comfort breaks as well! Everyone enjoyed themselves. Maria and Yannis make a great team and gave us the tour of a lifetime. I will miss them both! Colleen Flanagan Ormsby
Susan_B, May 2025
All in all our trip was great but there were certain things were lacking.
The tour guide Emelia was very knowledgeable about each area we visited.
Absolutely loved each location. The bus was comfortable especially since it was only 12 people in our group. The Amelia hotels was a 3 star even though we paid for a 4 star hotel!
The food the first not was ok the 2 other nights it was not good! Also no variety each hotel had the same food no.
Since it was a small group it would have been nicer to have stayed in smaller boutique hotels with better food or not include dinner!
