This tour, hosted by Carolina, was a food & history & cultural walking tour all rolled into one! Carolina was so informative and engaged the whole time, we learned so much and, despite Carolina’s warning not to eat lunch, we were still too full for dinner! And yes…we tried the herring! And it was delicious, not fishy at all!! A great way to see a bit of Amsterdam and learn a little, especially if you don’t have a lot of time in the city.
I cannot say enough good things about this tour with Barni. I’ve been on many walking food tours in many cities and they rarely disappoint… this didn’t either. SO MUCH FOOD and he brought us to places we actually sought out to go back before the end of our trip. Go hungry! We got great views of the city, lots of different neighborhoods. Just a fantastic time.
My only issues: the group was too big. We had 15? I think 10 is better but our group was great and kept up. Also, he seemed a little annoyed with us by the end but perhaps having a long day. Really big recommendation on this one if you want to try a little of everything and don’t know where to start.
A great experience to sample some of the specialities of Amsterdam. Plenty of food so come hungry. . The guide Barni was friendly and very knowledgeable. A great way to spend the afternoon
Barni was great. Very knowledgeable about history and the food. My only complaint is we were constantly standing to eat the foods.
This is an excellent and comprehensive tour of 10 stops of different local and delicious food options and multiple mini stops of various notable areas rloaded wirh history and cultural significance. Leo was an extremely knowledgeable and kind tour guide, full of fun and historical facts, tips about what to do in the city, and just a solid vibe. He took us to so many places that our group would probably never would have thought of visiting. I felt like a local. One of my friends had never liked seafood, and became a seafood lover after the herring and cod stop which was such a quaint little stand in the middle of the city. Delicious fries, butterballs, even a TikTok trendy crookie. But the best part was walking all over the city and seeing such unique sites. This is a “can’t miss” kind of excursion…and I really hope you get Leo as a guide. So knowledgeable and such a sweet spirit! I highly recommend.
We had a great experience. Our guide, Leo was born and raised in Amsterdam, and was very knowledgeable. Besides the food choices being great, he took us to some out-of-the-way places that we would not have known about on our own. The sample portions were generous. We had a small group of seven people which made the experience that much more personal. I would definitely recommend this tour.
Our guide Barni was knowlegable, witty, fun and personable. He lead our group around the city giving us not only history of the city but special insider tipz and quips all while leading I s to taste 10 different gypes of local foods. We had a great time and the tour was well worth the price.
Leo, who was our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. Shared a lot if history and behind the scenes info. The food was a mixed variety and a good sampling of Dutch food. Delicious!
Great tour. Danielle was informative and the tour was an excellent value. We went to many food tasting but also got a tour of the city during the food tour.
Roman did a fabulous job of sharing Dutch culture and history with us while we enjoyed one Dutch food after another on our private tour. He accommodated our slower walking pace very nicely. Thank you so very much, Roman!
Myself and 3 other friends went into this tour, it was OK, but nothing really special; so I am not sure how this was chosen as the best one. The guide was very nice, engaging, and made the tour bearable. But the type of food, its quality, and portions were NOT good, thus making this tour overpriced for what it offers.
We had such a good time! Barni was a wonderful guide. The tour went beyond just food; it included a bit of history and architecture. We sampled 10 items, all delicious (even the herring). We didn’t need to eat anything else the entire day.
We had Leo as our guide. He was knowledgeable and fun. Would highly recommend this food tasting tour
Lots of walking. Great cultural knowledge. Food was fantastic too! Roman showed us unique things about the city and shared things we never would have known. So fun!
Our guide Barney was absolutely great. Fun, very knowledgeable but more, with the perfect mix of humor and information.
David was a great tour guide - he was informative and made the tour fun. The food samples were a tasty way to get a taste of authentic Netherlands dishes!
Our tour guide, Barni, was wonderful. He took his time learning everyone's name. And his knowledge of Amsterdam was excellent.
And the food...it was amazing!!!
Danielle was an incredibly knowledgeable, fun, interesting, passionate guide for the food tour. She showed us so many hidden gems and explained so much about Amsterdam, the people, history and food. We must have had 10-12 different food stops which was both tasty and interesting. It was a fabulous way to see the city, explore little side streets and try the food. We thoroughly enjoyed every minute. I never write reviews but felt compelled to share about my experience!
Don’t eat before you go. Lots of great food. Wear comfortable shoes. Bathroom stop near beginning and at end only.
This was our first day in Amsterdam. Roman was an excellent tour guide. He wasn’t kidding when he said not to eat before the tour. The cultural side of the tour was great too. We had booked another walking tour and decided to cancel it because most of it was a duplication of this tour.
When they say don't eat anything, they are serious! There is plenty of delicious food and you will be full!
David was incredible. Remembered all of our names and shared great details, background and history of the food origin, and local connection. Loved this and would highly reccomend it
Ask for David. He was awesome!
Our guide Leo was great! So knowledgable and friendly, plus he gave us many little surprises and treats along the way.
We loved this food tour! It was well paced with a great mix of history and food, generous tastings and interesting selections we wouldn't have found on our own. Our guide, Leo, is a local with a masters in history. He was interesting and knowledgeable. We highly recommend!
Brilliant tour. Good pace, informative and interesting with local facts and insights. Covered a good area so you were exposed to a lot of the main attraction with some hidden Gems. Food was delicious! We did the 2.30pm - 5.30pm tour and have no need for dinner. I highly recommend this tour. LEO was the best tour guide.
Nothing short of outstanding. We learned we ate and we had fun. Don’t miss this Amsterdam tour We would do it again
Fantastic, fun and informative was to get introduced to Amsterdam. Roman was very informative, helpful and safe (used his bike and body ever time we crossed a road). The food was really good was well. We’ve been on many food tours to get acclimated to a new city and this was by far the best. Cannot recommend high enough
Great for a solo traveler! I enjoyed all the food and learned about history and culture too. Would recommend to a friend
Danielle did her best to work with our very large “small group” tour. 15 people, two of which had a lot of requests and questions, throwing Dani off her rhythm. And we only stopped for 8 tastings rather than the 10 advertised.
Yet another fantastic excursion we've joined via Viator! Roman provided us with one of the most informative and delicious culture experiences - an excellent introduction to Amsterdam.
Great way to learn about Amsterdam culture and food. Our tour guide was great and very knowledgeable.
