Yes, Athens religious tours are worth it, even if the sites you visit aren't active religious sites today. Your guide will provide important context that you may miss if you were to visit on your own. For example, many sites were used by different religions in varying ways. Guides can also translate signs or carvings that aren't in English, and they often know which entrances and restrooms have the shortest lines.

The guide was knowledgeable, engaging, and passionate about the city's rich history, making each stop come alive with fascinating stories. We explored ancient ruins, marveled at the stunning views from the Corinth Canal, and learned so much about Greek culture and heritage. Bring your wallet, as some religious tours stop at museums and sites, but the tour price may not include admission costs. Wear sturdy, closed-toe shoes with good traction, as many religious sites are ruins that feature uneven terrain and marble steps. Make sure you don’t have anything in your bag that won’t make it past security either: don’t pack anything you wouldn’t take through the airport.

Yes, Athens religious tours are suitable for all Christian denominations. You’ll mostly be visiting archaeological sites that are no longer actively used for religious purposes, so you won’t be asked to participate in any rites or rituals. Athens religious tours are also suitable for travelers who aren’t Christian—most tours focus more on sharing history than preaching dogma.

Some religious tours that feature the Acropolis Museum on their itineraries include admission, or at least the option to purchase admission at booking. However, most religious tours don’t include admission, so you’ll have to factor that into your budget and bring a method of payment. Adult tickets in 2026 cost €30.

Athens biblical tours aren’t strictly walking tours, as many involve transportation to and from Corinth. However, they definitely require walking. Expect to walk or stand for around 20–40 minutes at each stop before moving on to the next destination on the itinerary. If you read the fine print, you’ll see that most tours recommend wearing comfortable walking shoes.
